On PredictIt he has lost a few cents while Kamala has surged. I must say, she did very well in the debate. Except her attacks on Biden on race, which were quite unfair.

It’s interesting, I think Both Biden and Sanders really show the differences in energy from the rest of the field strongly. I didn’t expect it to strike me so strongly, but they do appear slower to me.

Harris’ closing statement wasn’t as strong as her debate answers, interestingly.


Biden was the only Blesserizer. So glad to NOT hear the others blesserizing at the end of their speech.

Mayor Pete had a good night too.
Yang could hardly get a word in edgewise - even the weird New Age woman got more speaking time than him.
Bennett has a real good voice. Once he drops out he can always have a career in radio or podcasting.
Hickenlooper mentioned socialism several times and being a scientist (master's in geology) twice, but his answer on climate change was thoughtful.

It really isn't surprising, given their ages, although Biden seems and acts much less old than Bernie. Bernie has never seemed to be anything other than a grumpy old man, which is fine for the movies but not for POTUS. He's all spittle and hot air.

As you said, Bernie is true to self. But Biden seemed off. Either his age is showing or he just had an off night.

Sanders had plenty of substance in 2016.

No, he had very little in concrete proposals. He is big on promises and short on actual policy.

I haven't followed him closely this time around, as Yang now has my support. Did Sanders become another standard platitude robot like the ones we saw tonight?

Harris being a black female has the quadruple edge sword and has to be extremely strategic. She showed why I think she'll be the nominee.

He isn't a politician. So, he won't do well in these sorts of things... or the White House.

To get this pulled out, we need someone who can swing the progressive Bloc. Joe "nothing will change" Biden, or as I like to call him DINO Joe, can't do that. Period. Democrats win elections through turning out the vote, and someone to the right of Obama, who is to the right of Hillary, will inspire young people... To stay home. A Biden candidacy won't just lose us the president, it'll lose us the progress of the Blue Wave in the Senate, too.

I disagree. A big reason Hillary lost is that she lost the moderates in states like Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
Elections are won in the middle. If you try too hard to appease the "progressive bloc", you risk looking like George McDoesn'tGovern.

Re Kamala's busing attack on Biden.

1. She was the "little girl"? She was born a full decade after Brown vs. Board of Education and was only 1 when the Civil Rights Act was passed.

2. There is a big difference between segregation and destroying the concept of neighborhood/community schools by busing students from one end of a county to another. Kamala dishonestly conflated these concepts.

Her attack on Biden was fair, he opposed busing itself, not just over states rights. But his problem was he seemed unprepared for the attack, like he had no idea someone might bring this up (his "not just civil rights for blacks, but LGBT too" at the end was pathetic). If he was better prepared, he could have gone back at Harris for her own record on immigration.

She claimed she was "the little girl" from some desegregation fight. She is way to young for that. She wouldn't have entered school until 1970 or so. Again, there is big difference between separating students by race and busing students from one end of the county to the other to achieve racial balance.

And it's not like she is not making a big deal out of it - she is even selling t-shirts.
