The Offspring - Feelings

Feelings
Nothing more than feelings
Trying to forget my
Feelings of hate
Imagine
Beating on your face
Trying to forget my
Feelings of hate

Paradise By The Dashboard Light, by Meatloaf.

I couldn't take it any longer Lord I was crazed
And when the feeling came upon me like a tidal wave
I started swearing to my god and on my mother's grave
That I would love you to the end of time
I swore, that I would love you to the end of time
So now I'm praying for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
'Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
But god only knows what I can do right now
I'm praying for the end of time
It's all that I can do (oh oh oh)
Praying for the end of time, so I can end my life with you

Pretty funny.

Don't ask about what Meat Loaf WON'T do.
I always thought that was a strange song, until I saw it performed as a duet, which is the way it was written. The girl's lyrics claim he'll soon be cheating on her, and he swears he won't do that. Leaving that out might have been a clever marketing ploy, just to make people ask the obvious question and listen to it again.

Any song that becomes a tag line has to be considered a commercial success.

Actually rumors have been swirling around about that song for many years. Meat finally admitted, early last year iirc, that the rumors were right. His at-the-time girlfriend wanted to do butt stuff and that's what inspired the song.

One of the greatest anti love songs,

George Jones - He stopped loving her today

For me, it's Patty Loveless "You Don't Even Know Who I Am."

Two people who once loved each other grew so far apart that they didn't even hate each other anymore.

You're So Vain by Carley Simon.

Oh, you had me several years ago
When I was still naive
Well, you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved
And one of them was me
I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee
Clouds in my coffee, and
You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you

I'll mention two:

Girlfriend in a Coma and Unhappy Birthday by The Smiths.

Whilst thinking of anti-love songs I came to the suspicion that there are probably as many of those as love songs. Misogyny is rampant, especially in rock music and blues. Funny how it's always the woman who's "running around with every guy in town" (Zeppelin), while the poor oppressed guy sits in a bar and bemoans his ill fortune.

Nick Cave is good for this kind of thing. A good part of his catalog could be classified as anti-love songs.

Nick Cave - I Let Love In

I would count Where the Wild Roses Grow too.

As well as "Henry Lee" (with PJ Harvey) from the same album (Murder Ballads).

Same goes for Rammstein, and probably even more so. Good part of their songs are anti love in some way, usually a very interesting one (if you speak the language)

The next three are in German, but still.

Rammstein - Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen? (Do you want to see the bed go up in flames?)
Includes the line "Sex ist eine Schlacht, Liebe ist Krieg" ("Sex is a battle, love is war")

This is one of my favorite Rammstein songs.
Rammstein - Amour
Includes "Liebe ist ein wildes Tier | In die Falle gehst du ihr | In die Augen starrt sie dir | Verzaubert wenn ihr Blick dich trifft" ("Love is a wild beast | you fall into its trap | it stares into your eyes | you are mesmerized when you catch its eye")

A rather subtle one (by Rammstein standards certainly).
Rammstein - Ohne Dich

From the chorus: "Ohne dich kann ich nicht sein | Ohne dich | Mit dir bin ich auch allein
Without you I cannot be | Without you | With you I am alone too

Rammstein is the greatest band in the last 30 years!

The greatest song ever:

Consolation in sorrow English Translation © Richard Stokes
Husar:
So be it! The time has come,
My horse must now be saddled,
I have decided,
I must to horse.

Away with you, I’ve had my fill,
I love you but from foolishness;
I can live without you,
I can exist without you.

And so I mount my horse,
And drink a glass of cool wine,
And swear by my beard
To be faithful to you forever.

Girl:
You think you are the handsomest man
In all the wide world,
The most agreeable as well,
But you are very much mistaken.

In my father’s garden
There blooms a lovely flower,
And I am only waiting
Till it has grown taller.

Away with you, I’ve had my fill,
I love you but from foolishness;
I can live without you,
I can exist without you.

Husar:
You think I’d take you,
That’s very far from my mind,
I’d be ashamed of you,
When in company.
