Fuck CBS. They bow to trump

Corbett is such a dope.

:picardfacepalm:Holy crap, that was some serious fundy nonsense on Colbert's part. I don't know anything about the guy at all other than what I see on the show's "teasers" earlier in the evening (I crash out at 9pm regularly) , but I sure didn't see that coming. Good thing they had to cut to a commercial before he had a chance to ask RG if evolution is true, why are there still monkeys?

President Trump gloats over Colbert’s cancellation with a very ironic “His talent is lower than his ratings.”

90% of Trump's insults, 'nicknames', and diatribes are what any high school guidance counselor would label projection. Maybe 98%. (He did call McConnell Cocaine Mitch, and I don't think Trump does any controlled substances.)

It’s nice to see the right government taking over the media so we won’t have to suffer anymore propaganda.

Apparently the show was losing a lot of money

“The Late Show,” a fixture of the network for over three decades, was racking up losses of tens of millions of dollars a year, and the gap was growing fast, according to two people familiar with the show’s finances. Like other late-night shows before it, “The Late Show” was canceled when the network could not figure how to make the finances work in an entertainment world increasingly dominated by streaming.

But conspiracy theories are much more interesting.

If their flagship evening show was losing money, the whole network is cooked.

I've been a fan of Colbert for decades, starting when he was on The Daily Show and did the religious satire bit, "This week in God".Cobert is a rather liberal Catholic. He says he believes in god but he's been satirizing religion for many years, so he's no fundie. In the early years that he hosted "The Daily Show", he also did a bit that satirized religion. We recorded lots of Colbert's old religious satire on DVDs and we give out copies to atheist friends. So, please let's not equate him with some crazy fundies. He has even made fun of his own religion. I will miss his show. Maybe he'll go back to Comedy Central. He did great there and even had a show that satirized a right wing pundit.

Late Show host Stephen Colbert introduced a new segment during Monday night’s episode, “Stephen Colbert Gets All Up In Your Faith.” The religiously-themed segment is yet another addition to the post-David Letterman late night program at CBS, but Daily Showand Colbert Report fans will recognized it as something much older.

That’s because “Stephen Colbert Gets All Up In Your Faith” is the direct descendant of Colbert’s “This Week in God,” a popular segment he did as a correspondent for Jon Stewart‘s The Daily Show on Comedy Central. Back then, Colbert would satirically attempt to deconstruct various world religions and faith-based news stories from the Christian standpoint of his pundit character.

Now that The Late Show host is trying to play himself on broadcast television, the new segment introduces a brand new concept to the old gag — honesty. Sure, Colbert offers plenty of comedy — like when he wishes his Jewish viewers a happy Rosh Hashanah, and his gentile audience a Happy National Eat a Hoagie Day — but he uses the platform to discuss current events in world religions with the intent to educate. Or, at least he tries to.

I think all networks are struggling to compete with on demand streaming services.

I like seeing the people here that love the GOP and Project 2025 decry Colbert’s “fundie shit” in an exchange with Gervais.

Corbett is such a dope.

Based on just that video you do have a positive case for such a claim. However, I am sure that he is not such a dope with other guests and issues.

You mean there are other videos of Stephen Colbert??? Surely, Tswizzle wouldn’t base an opinion on just a single observation.

OOps. In my last post, I meant to say in the early year of the Late Night Show, he satirized religion. He did the Daily Show religious satire prior to that. There was an actor who played god. God was in the ceiling of the studio and Steven would ask god some goofy questions. Anyone remember that?
Regardless of what our local Debbie Downer rolling eye member claims, Colbert is a comedic genius. It must be a drag always being so negative.

Colbert is absolutely brilliant with words and also talented at physical comedy. He's in a completely different league from Kimmel et al.

But Comedy Central is also part of the CBS sub-empire, which in turn is part of the Paramount Global Empire. Remember the good old days when TV was ABC, CBS and NBC? Now ABC is part of the Disney empire; NBC part of the Comcast empire; and CBS about to be sold to Skydance. The companies are continually traded around, with the biggest conglomerates getting ever larger.

And now Skydance is buying Paramount Global! Skydance is controlled by David Ellison, son of the 2nd richest man in the world. Have we mentioned that America's super-rich are becoming super-powerful?

Yeah I'm sure the US advertizers are really loosing sleep over the missing Russian viewers/buyers.
So how does Youtube Russia earn it's money? It's watching YOU.
If CBS was worried about Youtube, it wouldn't itself be posting it's vids there.

WHAT war on Russia?

The King demands a bribe, you pay. It's not like they have any realistic choice.
