There are several people in this thread claiming that having someone kneel on the back of one's neck for 9+ minutes is irrelevant.

I have a modest proposal that involves an experiment with every one of you, and a stopwatch.

Any takers? :)

*Cue the crickets...*

Name one.

I don't know of any. Maybe I just ignore opinions that stupid and forget about them almost immediately.

Only old white people who hate google would leave an opening like that.

Edit: This post was in error, I misunderstood TomC, but I must admit I do believe he's an old white man that hates google.

By the...well, damn, I hate to even sarcastically call it "logic" of some of our resident medical experts, we might as well conclude that John F. Kennedy died of the many chronic health problems he'd accumulated by November of 1963. He'd had whooping cough, chicken pox, measles, scarlet fever, and ear infections growing up; during his presidential years Kennedy suffered from high fevers; stomach, colon, and prostate issues; abscesses; high cholesterol; and adrenal problems. During his first term in Congress he was diagnosed with the rare Addison's disease--also hyperthyroidism.

At the time of his death from what is obviously some unquantifiable combination of these (and other) disorders, a bullet fired into his brain by Lee Harvey Oswald, hypertension, and the extensive suite of painkillers and meds he was on, Kennedy was essentially a dead man walking at the time he landed in Dallas.

Does Oswald bear some (any?) culpability in JFK's death? No one can really say. He *could* have done some things differently, perhaps (although his actions were consistent with the training he'd had), but to overlook JFK's own health problems as contributors is to place undue emphasis on a video everyone on the planet has seen, and draw unwarranted conclusions from it.

So, ask yourself--what does the Zapruder film NOT show? The answer, my friends, is Addison's disease.

In other words, I can't think of a rational response so I'll say something irrelevant and sarcastic instead.

Luv U 2!

ETA ~Wait a minute. It just occurred to me that what you meant was finding a dumbshit on Fox or AM radio or something. Of course I could.
I thought I was clear when I pointed out that there are opinions out there so stupid I forget about them almost immediately.~

This you?

It's difficult to converse with people who have already decided that Chauvin is guilty of First Degree Murder. People who think that Floyd was executed for passing a forged $20 aren't easy to reason with.

He doesn't remember because he forgets about his stupid opinions almost immediately. So when you post it back to him he forgets again upon reading it.

Just to review....he presented that strawman and then I said what about murder 2 or murder 3 and then he just slunk away and made the strawman in another thread.

Perhaps I shouldn't even be wasting time reviewing this...maybe there's more productive discussion to be had about real positions people have and evidence that they present, related to the trial.

Here's the quote I was responding to.
There are several people in this thread claiming that having someone kneel on the back of one's neck for 9+ minutes is irrelevant.

I don't know of one. Nobody on this thread has opined that Chauvin had no part in Floyd's death.

Specifically, it addresses claims that Floyd's health mattered any which way as to whether he died. It is irrelevant if the actions perpetrated on him lead to the same result regardless of preconditions.

If you wish to demonstrate the survivability of 9 minutes of the Chauvin Treatment, be my guest.

If you don't like that one I have others.

For example
Tony Timpa 2019
Troy Goode 2019

There is a theme they all share with the police being involved & shirking the responsibility of course.

Edit: This post is in error. I got TomC's reply wrong.

Oh my bad. I retract everything.

Edit: Everything except barbos claiming it was irrelevant.

I edited it. After you posted. Sorry about that. I don't usually do that, but it wasn't until after I'd thought about what you posted that it occurred to me why we were talking past each other.

Oh, barbos; did?

OK, my bad. I didn't realize that anyone had said anything as stupid as Chauvin's behavior was irrelevant. There are almost 300 posts in this thread.

No, not that Chauvin's behavior was irrelevant but that the "neck thing" (Knee on the neck) was irrelevant. That's what Worldtraveller was talking about.

Yeah, barbos thinks the "neck thing is irrelevant." He got his medical degree at MMA TV university.

"As a physician, I would agree." Just say "I agree" bruh.

That answer makes me impatient, makes me want it followed up with something like this:

Witness: "As a physician, I would agree."

Prosecutor: "As a physician you agree?"

Witness: "Yes. As a physician, I agree."

Prosecutor: "As a physician, you agree. Is there some sense in which you disagree?"

Witness: "What?"

Prosecutor: "You agree as a physician but you disagree as a citizen? Or you disagree as a member of the KKK? Or you disagree as a cop lover? Or as a music lover, a scuba diver, a motocross enthusiast? You say you agree as a physician; is there any sense in which you disagree?"

Witness: "No."

Prosecutor: "No? There is no sense in which you disagree?"

Witness: "No, there is no sense in which I disagree."

Prosecutor: "You agree wholeheartedly."

Witness: "Yes, I do."

Prosecutor: "The defendant, and the other police present, should have performed CPR to try to revive Mr. Floyd, to try to reverse the cardiac event."

Witness: "Yes."

Prosecutor: "They should have done that."

Witness: "Yes."

Prosecutor: "That's your opinion? In your opinion, it's just a fact that they should have done that?"

Witness: "Yes."

While I very much agree that it is comically appropriate to such asinine framings, that would totally get you bounced for badgering I think.

Every US citizen has to sign up for Jury duty ...

I've never heard of signing up for jury duty. I don't believe it's a thing.

Uh, would it be possible to correctly attribute that? It looks as if I said it, and I didn't.

I was pointing out that "the bolded part" was not true. Please fix?

I'm on it. I think there's still time for me to fix it.

---

ETA:

It's fixed.

Thanks for the timely heads up.
