How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

No, he had stage IV pancreatic cancer and was refused treatment after incarceration. However, I may have gotten wrong that he was working on the Kinzhal program. He was mentioned in a news article regarding the Kinzhal researchers, but I now see that he was a laser specialist. I don't really know what barbos was referring to when he mentioned that this was old news, but, then again, a lot of us are confused by his undocumented and unsupported references.

See:

‘They didn’t even let our family say goodbye’

There's not really much to do about stage IV pancreatic cancer anyway.
Other than treating the pain?

Looking forward to barbos' twisted take on this;

Turns out Russia isn't the "Ein Reich, Ein Fuhrer, Ein Putin", barbos claims it is.
If Russia has some new breakaway republics in the Belgorod region, then it would only be prudent for friendly neighbor Ukraine to help out those brave freedom fighters as part of a special "peacekeeping" operation. I'm sure the Donetsk and Luhansk "Republics" know what I'm talking about here. Right? Right? :sneaky:

Or on the other side: Hey Russia, why are you bombing your own citizens??? This genocide is unacceptable! It sounds like Russia needs to be de-nazified.:sadyes:

/satire

But seriously, I would love to see Barbos's take on this too.

I'd say it was just a parody of the "insurrection" that Russia orchestrated in Donbas in 2013.

It's not like the oppressed people of Belgorod desperately want to secede from Russia.

Prigozhin says war in Ukraine has backfired, warns of Russian revolution

RIGA, Latvia — Fresh off his claim of victory in capturing the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, Russian mercenary boss Yevgeniy Prigozhin warned that Moscow’s brutal war could plunge Russia into turmoil similar to the 1917 revolution unless its detached, wealthy elite become more directly committed to the conflict.

In a lengthy interview with Konstantin Dolgov, a political operative and pro-war blogger, Prigozhin, the founder and leader of the Wagner mercenary group, also asserted that the war had backfired spectacularly by failing to “demilitarize” Ukraine, one of President Vladimir Putin’s stated aims of the invasion. He also called for totalitarian policies going forward.

“We are in a situation where we can simply lose Russia,” Prigozhin said, using an expletive to hammer his point. “We must introduce martial law. We unfortunately … must announce new waves of mobilization; we must put everyone who is capable to work on increasing the production of ammunition,” he said. “Russia needs to live like North Korea for a few years, so to say, close the borders … and work hard.”
Uh oh...

Play the fear card, national security and all that, something despots are known for. I wouldn't believe this douche as far as I could throw him.

Are Prigozhin and Flynn the same guy? Or just have the same boss?

You've really swallowed the Russian propaganda yarn whole!
So you are saying Istanbul talks are russian propaganda?
I believe that those peace talks have been suspended. I'm not sure. The problem with peace talks is that peace requires trust. How in the world can Ukraine trust Russia to fulfill any peace talks? Your side agreed to not invade Ukraine if they gave up nukes. Ukraine fulfilled its part. Your side violated the agreement. The only possible peace that I can see is your side withdraw to Russia, but maybe keep Crimea. But then in exchange, Ukraine is allowed to join Nato. It's dangerous for world commerce to keep Russia troops in the Black Sea. But at the end of the day, we need to find a way to stop the war in Ukraine. The only way I can see that is to let Ukraine in.

Russia will always be a threat to world commerce and food supply, if they’re allowed to keep Crimea.

But then in exchange, Ukraine is allowed to join Nato.

“Allowed”? I don’t think Russia should be allowing or disallowing ANYTHING: Ukraine is a sovereign nation.

It's dangerous for world commerce to keep Russia troops in the Black Sea.

Right. Letting them profit from their illegal seizure of Crimea would ensure that they remain a danger to world commerce.
Fuck the Russian “leadership”; they have demonstrated their inability to conform to civilized norms. Whatever means necessary to disempower them, are justified by the end.

What's there to comment?
I guess I was hoping for one of your signature rants about how they were actually NATO Special Forces zombies hopped up on drugs whilst misspelling Zelensky's name. You know, your greatest hits.

Oh, I agree with you that Russia should have no say if Ukraine joins nato or not. They can't bring anything to the table. A peace agreement with Russia is worthless. However, there are countries in Nato that are against Ukraine joining (Hungary, Turkey and a couple others are on the fence). Agree that wherever there are Russian troops and ships, commerce is threatened. However, they won't do shit if Nato is patrolling the grain routes.

Ukraine will be made whole. They've done nothing wrong. Russians are the aggressors in eastern Ukraine. They bullied their way into Crimea. Russia should be made to give up a demilitarized zone. There is no reason whatsoever to trust Russia. As far as a NATO application is concerned, as long as Ukraine can meet the requirements of NATO membership, Turkey and Hungary can block them all they want. In the interim, the US can have one of their special little Defense Cooperation Agreements with Ukraine, i.e. US troops stationed within middle finger distance of Russia. And the eastern half of the Crimean bridge will remain intact as a monument to Vladimir Putin.
And then we can talk about reconstruction and restitution.

What are you doing here? Why are you here?

Ukraine will be made whole.
Russian population is slowly turning against it.
Ukraine can not be left alone with western scum.
Georgia learned their lesson and quite happy with their de-facto neutral status.
Ukraine must be fully occupied and integrated back into Russia.
Will it be done? I personally doubt. But in my opinion it should be done.

Oh, you are not sure. OK.
Well, what use are they now? What would satisfy Russia? And how in the world could Ukraine trust Russia to fulfill any potential peace treaty? Ukraine wants their land back. They want no future Russian attacks. And they probably want justice. What can Russia deliver on?
