How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

For these of you military geniuses, there is a job opening in Ukraine - Zaluzhny replacement.
Elensky tried to fire the guy but nobody wants to replace him - both Budanov and Syrsky both declined the offer :)
So go ahead and be a hero of Ukraine who defeats Putin.
Yea, Zaluzhny failed in the counter offensive. The west is partially to blame for slowing down arms to Ukraine. They really need the F-16s. It's not easy to evict an entrenched enemy with unlimited amounts of troops willing to be sacrificed.
Send your CV to Elensky.
Don't fret my friend. I'm sure that Zelensky will find a good replacement.

To you, everyone is a Nazi. Is this what you want? Continuous war against a made-up foe that you believe is being mean to Russians?

That's pretty ironic, coming from the guy who thinks what you just said you think.

?? Russian troops invading a sovereign country are not a "made-up foe". Russian and Ukrainians are dying today in Ukraine. That's not made up. What is made-up are these Nazi-Holligans just waiting to invade Russia. You've been fed a bunch of bullshit to motivate you to support the war that is killing your fellow country-men.

No. it is you who have been fed up bullshit.

The EU approved the 50B in financial aid for Ukraine. Orban fell in line sooner than expected.

The important fact to note here is that Hungary, Russia's staunchest ally within the EU, dropped its threat to block the $50B aid package, making the approval unanimous. This follows Hungary's withdrawal of opposition to approving Sweden's official membership in NATO. So far, Putin's last support seems to have come down to help from Trump's MAGA wing in Congress, and they have been showing signs of weakness lately.

EU agrees $54 billion in new aid for Ukraine as Hungary falls in line

Orban is clearly a Nazi imperialist bent on the destruction of Russia.
Barbos already knew that, of course.

I'm not sure how to follow the money here.
If EU approves $50B military aid package, but the U.S. Congress refuses to help fund, does that mean that the U.S. military industrial complex won't get to cash in?

Boy, that would like a fire under Congress' asses. Damnation! Suddenly, everyone in Congress would demand U.S. taxpayer funding for this war against communism.

Since a large part of the munitions supplied to Ukraine are from the US, I think that the US military-industrial complex will be fine no matter what. They already get blank checks from Congress for pretty much anything they want and even for a lot of things they don't want but which are manufactured in states that powerful politicians come from. Right now, it is Trump and the MAGA-driven Republican party in Congress that is Putin's hope for cutting off aid to Ukraine. However, withdrawing aid isn't a popular campaign theme to run on in an election year, especially since one of Trump's impeachment trials was based on his unsuccessful attempt to manipulate Ukraine into helping him attack Biden during the 2020 campaign.

Who is "they"?
Ukraine?

No, the US defense industry. Ukraine is just a part of that, but the kneejerk funding of the Pentagon for all things military makes it harder for politicians to oppose the Ukraine piece.

I'm still confused.
The EU decides to fund Ukraine defense with $50B. The U.S. can't decide if we can afford to help.

Why would Ukraine get any appreciable amount of weaponry from the U.S. MIC, when EU has plenty of players who would love to sell their stuff? And have more influence over EU governments than Trump dominated USA? And getting weaponry from other EU members doesn't leave Ukraine supporters to the mercy of the USA election system, going into an election year?
