I am not seeing the problem here. The heroes always escape, often by running away from explosions and banding together with unlikely partners, and so the destruction provides a heartwarming tale of human ingenuity and unity in the face of adversity. And only extras actually die, and the few whose stories we see are almost invariably avaricious and undone by their greed.Nice sentiment, but usually it required places like NYC being leveled first.It's a common science fiction trope that when aliens invade, humanity will finally unite against the common enemy.
So, trial run here?
Of course, it's just possible that Hollywood is not an entirely reliable guide to reality.
