How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

Netherlands may send F-16s they promised to Ukraine to .... Argentina :)
I suspect they simply don't think Ukraine will last that long.

But really, Ukraine has no choice. They either fight Russia's illegal, immoral, reprehensible, and completely unjustified invasion now or face the alternative of surrendering and being butchered by Russia's immoral, and reprehensible police state with Russia in charge. And then the children of Ukraine will be sent off in a future war to fight FOR the evil Russian empire as cannon fodder like all the other minorities in Russia. This is not a viable alternative.

If Russia was even slightly trustworthy, Ukraine might be willing to sacrifice some of their land if it meant peace, but Russia has broken too many agreements and is currently run completely by an egomaniacal liar who waves threats of nuclear genocide like a national flag on independence day. There is a price for being a two-faced pile of shit and part of that is that nobody trusts you, especially people you so recently betrayed.

Really, there is nothing stupid about facing evil head on rather than let it use, abuse, and denigrate you on its terms.

What is the choice!?? According to Mad Medvedev, Russia will completely annihilate Ukraine if they surrender. The Ukrainian's are backed into a corner and have no choice but to fight. Zelensky knows this.

The US embassy had warned Americans that “extremists” had imminent plans for an attack in Moscow weeks ahead of the deadly strike on concertgoers by Islamic State militants on Friday that resulted in the deaths of 93 people.

In the deadliest attack in Russia since the 2004 Beslan school siege, gunmen sprayed civilians with bullets just before Soviet-era rock group “Picnic” was to perform to a full house at the 6,200-seat the Crocus City Hall just west of the capital.

The US embassy on 7 March repeatedly urged all American citizens to leave Russia immediately, giving no further details about the nature of the threat, but said people should avoid concerts and crowds and be aware of their surroundings.


“The Embassy is monitoring reports that extremists have imminent plans to target large gatherings in Moscow, to include concerts, and US citizens should be advised to avoid large gatherings over the next 48 hours,” the embassy said on its website at that time.

It issued its warning several hours after Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), the main successor to the Soviet-era KGB, said it had foiled an attack on a synagogue in Moscow by a cell of the militant Sunni Muslim group Islamic State.

Perhaps you missed the below? Below is the possible "peace solution" proposed by Mad Medvedev:

The plan requires the following: 1) complete and unconditional surrender; 2) demilitarization; 3) dismiss all constitutional authorities; 4) "forced denazification programs encompassing all authorities; 5) Ukraine must pay compensation to Russia, including reimbursing relatives of Russian soldiers 6) officially recognize that the entire territory of Ukraine belongs to the Russian Federation".

I'd like to know if anyone honestly thinks that this is reasonable or that a sane person would give in to this?

Cause and effect? What do you think the long term effect will be of your country invading and attempting to destroy a neighbor? Stealing their land, kidnapping their children, destroying their infrastructure, torturing their civilians.

Russia will absolutely exterminate the Ukranian people. Pootey wants their land and mineral resources. The people are in his way, so he has already fashioned the excuses he is using - and will use - to complete his genocide project, if not stopped.
Much blood will be on the hands of Republican politicians.
