How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

But what did his roommates grandmother's best friend say about it?
You must have missed recent russian nuclear sub visit to Cuba.
We noticed it. The sub whose tiles are falling apart. More Russian "maintenance" or did some idiot order it to go too fast?

In either case, with it's tiles damaged that sub wouldn't last long if someone was hunting it.
Sure, keep telling that to yourself. How are your tanks doing in Ukraine?

Irrelevant as ICBMs are quite capable of filling the role these days. You can put enough boom with enough accuracy on top of a missile on the other side of the world, there's no need of local ones other than as deterrence for attacking the location that has them.
Many locations, difficult to destroy. Now that we have subs and vehicle mounted missiles.

What a surprise Putin only wants Luhansk, Doetsk and Crimea. The areas with the gas deposits.
I do not know if Putin wants that. Of course, gas deposits are a welcome bonus, but perhaps because these areas have a Russian speaking majority.
Because Russia relocated people to the area in the past.
So did Great Britain and Europe in general. So take your belongings and get the hell out of land of amerindians.

Looking forward to a Modi-Putin hug today. :)

That's gotta annoy the hell out of regimes in the West.
Ah, we are not that important.

That gas is a shale I understand. Russia does not have technology nor interest in developing it. There is plenty of normal easy to extract natural gas in Russia. And I could be wrong but shale gas is simply banned in Russia for environmental reasons.
Russia is actually doing a favor to Ukraine by stopping environmental disaster.

Better than Russian tanks.

The de-energization caused all electric arc furnaces to stop, with the metal inside freezing. Restarting the plant will require extensive cleaning and replacement of arc elements, potentially taking several months.
Some workers believe new furnaces might be needed, and since the plant was built using German technology, German expertise may be required to resume operations
Promising.
That's going to be a big ouch for Russia. Things which have been kept hot for ages often suffer a lot of damage when they go cold.
I think there were thousands of people employed here. Hopefully there will be satellite photos of traffic coming and going. It should be a good indication of the extent of the damage.

So Kiev regime moved their planes close to the line of contact. Russia destroyed 5 planes and damaged 3 in one strike.
That's gotta be the worth decision they have ever made. They brought Patriot for protection - did not help. Russian air defence are now shooting down Patriot missiles in the air (!!!!) :D
It was a very good decision on their part. You wasted missiles on decoys. Of course your military people aren't going to admit it but the reality is a lot of your "kills" are decoys. It works both ways but your decoys tend to not be as good and Ukraine for the most part isn't aiming long range strikes against things that move.
Betcha all up and down the Russian chain of command they suspect they are shooting at decoys but know it will ultimately be presented to the Russian public as a successful kill. Just like Ukrainian drones, when they hit a Russian asset, according to Russian propaganda, it is always the "debris" after the successful Russian kill that does the damage, creates the fireball they cannot hide from the public.
Like this at the ammunition depot in Sergeevka containing surface-to-surface missiles, surface-to-air missiles, ammunition for tanks and artillery.

Debris. As if it matters.
Question is, was this an actual ammo storage facility set up to isolate groups of munitions from one another or a big empty warehouse with everything mixed together? What would a Russian do?

Is a vicious dog on a chain a peacekeeper? I guess if you're worried about insulting the dog owner.

I see Ukraine is benefitting from a 1970's era air defense system, the Improved Hawk. Ukrainian operators like the system although it is quite vulnerable to anti radar systems. I imagine if they sense such a threat they just hit the off switch, which works. At one time it was the standard intermediate air defense system for the US military. Probably lots of old systems to get rid of shooting down Ruski missiles and drones.

But kornservatives are crying bloody murder about us “giving it away” instead of paying hundreds of millions to dispose of it.

Article 5. NATO declares war on Russia.
how? Cuba is not a member of NATO. And you illegally occupy part of the country.
If Cuba wants their territory back they should get all the weapons and training they need to achieve that.
it's their land. Imperialist invaders should be kicked out.
That is pretty rich, coming from you! I'm sure that you know advocate Russia giving back the lands that it stole from Ukraine! However, you are incorrect. The US signed a lease with Cuba giving us the base. The lease was upheld in 1934. The US pays a rent to Cuba each year and has upheld the terms of the lease.

Ukrainian attacks on supply lines slowed Russians in Kharkiv, intercepts show Russian troops invading Ukraine’s Kharkiv region are short of food and water, Ukrainian soldiers say, citing intercepted communications and interrogations of POWs.

KHARKIV REGION, Ukraine — Ukrainian attacks on Russian supply lines have left Russian units scrambling for food, water and ammunition, blunting Moscow’s renewed invasion into Ukraine’s northeast Kharkiv region, according to Ukrainian field commanders who shared radio and phone intercepts and results of their interrogations of Russian prisoners of war.

The intercepts and extensive interviews with 10 Ukrainian commanders and troops operating across the front line in Kharkiv — including several who monitor Russian communications and who question POWs immediately after they are captured — paint a picture of increasingly desperate Russian ground troops who are losing personnel and momentum after reinvading across the border in May.

In the transcript of one radio conversation, intercepted in June and shared with The Washington Post, a Russian soldier orders another to ensure incoming troops responsible for carrying supplies understand that there is a dire shortage of food and water.

There is a bigger problem. Russia has shifted their economy into a wartime economy, and are producing weapons at a high rate. The west has not shifted their economies into wartime economies. If we did we could crush Russia like a bug. But we haven't. Yes, Russia is trashing their economy in order to win this war. But over time Russia will grind down Ukraine. The west has already sent anything that is redundant. We're now cutting into our preparedness storages. But we're not increasing production. If the current situations keeps going Russia will, over time win. In the long long term, Russia will of course run out of money, and then it'll just implode (as happened to Russia in WWI).
