How should west respond to Russian invasion of Ukraine?

[Loren Pechtel]

Putin has strengthened the AA defense ring around his valdai residence with 15 new flak towers (at the cost of £16m per tower), upping the total to over half a hundred.

Which is strange because he keeps ensuring us all of Ukraine's drones and missiles are being shot down.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-n...lace-surrounded-by-15-new-air-defence-towers/

As a side note, I wouldn't put it past Ukraine to hit the mansion now, just to show that they can.

Doolittle.

We considered it worthwhile to send bombers against Tokyo fairly early in the war knowing the bombers would be lost and the crews probably trapped somewhere in Asia. Because it made the Japanese allocate more effort to defending Tokyo. Ukraine should hit Russia's top people now and then to make them put air defenses there rather than around the things that Ukraine actually wants to destroy.

China is, as cold authoritarian regimes go, a model of effective governance. Extreme cruelty must be leveled at any threat to the power structure, no matter how slight. Keeps everyone in line, mostly. And that is to the benefit of the regime AND its captive populace.

Yup. China is capitalist, not communist. The usual downsides of remaining in power being more important than doing right and some of the problems of a single flow of power, but Beijing tries to avoid the latter. However, it's somewhat necessary to ensure control.

Seen elsewhere:

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed a successful strike on the power supply element production workshop for Russian weaponry at the Energiya plant in the Russian city of Yelets in Lipetsk Oblast, which was carried out on 25 October or in the early hours of 26 October.

The General Staff added that the plant is the sole manufacturer of power batteries for glide and correction modules used in aerial bombs, whilst also producing batteries for Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems and sea-launched cruise missiles.

OSINT analysts previously reported that on 25 October, the Energiya plant in Yelets was attacked, likely using Storm Shadow cruise missiles.

Nice one! Insignificant component that's essential for so much military hardware.

I do not know what sort of batteries but it's probably molten salt batteries. They see use in many, many weapons--they'll keep their charge for decades and deliver quite a bit of power when needed. But they have a huge downside in that there's a heating element, they produce no power until the heating element is fired, then they only deliver power for the burn time of the heating element. Since missiles and whatnot are used only one this is a perfect combination, but it means there's almost no civilian market and thus they have dedicated production facilities.

You know your history.

It was a psychological blow.

The drone attacks have to have a psychological impact on Russians.

by 2014 army was in a better shape

...and still got to take their teeth home in their hats, when they tried to take kyiv.

You don't read do you? We never tried to actually take Kiev. It was impossible with that amount of force and ukro-successes in "defending" Kiev were greatly exaggerated if not outright manufactured by propaganda.

The above is absolutely the dumbest fucking thing that you've said in this thread (and that says a lot!). What are you trying to say? Your storm troopers only meant to go window shopping in Kyiv and simply forgot their corporate cards or something??

Yea. like Trump when he says the Iran war is going as planned.

I like this one.

+1
That’s a riot! “Acquiring industrial base”???
BWAHAHAHA!
I used to think babs had something north of half a brain, but he challenges that assumption with every passing day.

It's the vodka talking.

Google says you're full of shit.

No it does not. I just checked, you are full of shit.

[barbos]

Now there's something to be proud of.

yes, you are proud of Kiev regime attacks on WildBerries. I am proud of turning lights off in Kiev.

You seem to have missed the crucial difference between being proud of beating a bully, and being proud of being a bully.

These are not equal.

A bully here is you.

all the while losing Russia's industrial base.

bullshit too. We are acquiring industrial base at accelerated rate, thanks to sanctions we don't have to worry about cheap competition.

I like this one. Your talents are wasted here. You should be a government economist who explains to Putin how everything gets better if you set it on fire.
It must be interesting to be be perpetually living in 1984. If you don't get the reference, it's even funnier.

Only complete dumbass-moron and idiots don't know how sanctions actually made more money for Russia.

You certainly don't know how the sanctions actually made money for Russia, so what does that make you?

The dumbest things is what you do here. Only complete degenerate would think that 140K is enough to take Kiev.
Russian plan was to show that we meant business. And we succeeded, Kiev regime agreed to to all our demands in Istanbul.

Yes, the corrupt clown Company denied termination of flamingo. Does not mean it was not utter failure militarily.

Speaking of its engine

Ukrainian company Fire Point had obtained a large number of Ivchenko AI-25, purchased from various stockpiles and found in landfills and dumps, for powering the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile. Many had a remaining flight time of some 10 hours. As the engines will not be used for multiple flights by jet aircraft, Fire Point restores them just enough for a Flamingo missile's flight time of three and a half hours. Media reports had said that the engines were made by Motor Sich, but Fire Point said that they had found "thousands of such engines" at various landfills in Ukraine.

Menwhile, french protests spread to germany. Gen-z protests against Führer Mertz plan for endless wars and conscription into Wehrmacht. EU plans for war with Russia are in danger.

You can say you know, but we both know you aren't going to explain it. You really should ask your handlers for better material. It's really not fair for them to give this kind of nonsense that just lets you talk yourself into a corner.

Direct all your complains toward western observers. I heard it from them.
The fact is, the news, be it misinformation or not, did circulate in the telegram blogosphere media.
Russian official media does nor really bother much with smaller details such as this.

In other news western media does not like talking is the fact that Russian Navy keeps sinking ships in Black Sea.
there has been a dozen or so ships sunk recently. Surprisingly western media does not really talk about that.
Compare it witt Leipzig incident were some obviosly non-russian drone was found lying near runaway. So much outrage about that and nothing about the fact that Black Sea is a Russian lake now.

Picture of Kiev

[TV and credit cards]

In brief: Ukrainian long-range strike drones attacked the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery and the adjacent Novogorkovskaya combined heat and power plant in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region, overnight into Sunday, Nov. 1. The strike triggered major blazes in multiple areas across the 17-million-ton refining complex – Russia’s fourth-largest refinery and second-largest motor gasoline producer. Drones penetrated heavy local air defense nets to strike processing units and the industrial power plant supplying steam and electricity to surrounding petrochemical facilities.

"Second-largest motor gasoline producer" That's gotta hurt.

[TV and credit cards]

And a battle damage assessment of yesterday's strike on the Novokuybyshevsky Oil Refinery in the Samara region shows that it is completely offline. This was one of Russia's leading producers of aviation fuel.
