How were Republicans so Stupid ...

Joe Lieberman would have. They selected Palin because she could excite the base, and she did, and they actually took the lead in the polls for a short period of time, right before she opened her mouth on television. Sarah Palin is a master of riling up simpleton people. It is the only thing she is good at, but she managed to become Governor of Alaska without having any other skill set, so that does speak volumes. People still pay to see her speak.

The Republicans were indeed, never going to win in '08. Eight years of W saw to that. But Palin was somewhat of a hail mary throw at the end.

....To help reel-in those sweaty-dudes who'd fight for front-row seats at a Britney Spears show!!!
It is as much her looks as it is her attitude. The attitude is critical. Her supporters are petty, simpleton, quick to insult, and even quicker to be insulted.

After watching her....right from THE START....stringing-together a multitude of phrases....expecting her supporters to accept her "speeches" as a complete-thought....I never COULD figure-out why her promoters never recognized as much!!!!

Now....we're starting to hear....

You Betcha I Was Wrong About Sarah Palin
January 28, 2015

"It’s time to admit that, whatever their motivation was at the time, the Alaska governor’s critics always had a point.

Has conservative genuflection at the altar of Sarah Palin finally come to a halt?

In case you missed it, her speech in Iowa this week was not well received on the right. The Washington Examiner’s Byron York called it a “long, rambling, and at times barely coherent speech” and National Review’s Charles C.W. Cooke said she slipped into self-parody. And there’s more. The Examiner’s Eddie Scarry, for example, contacted several conservative bloggers who were once Palin fans, but have since moved on.

But here’s my question… what changed?

Yes, in 2008, Sarah Palin delivered one of the finest convention speeches I’ve ever heard (trust me, I was there), but she hasn’t exactly been channeling Winston Churchill ever since. Remember her big speech at CPAC a couple of years ago? You know, the one where she took a swig out of a Big Gulp and said of her husband Todd: “He’s got the rifle, I got the rack.” Not exactly a great moment in political rhetoric.

So why is anyone surprised when, this weekend, she said: “‘The Man,’ can only ride ya when your back is bent?”

My own career as an author may serve as a microcosm. As I noted earlier, my last book was a collection of Palin quotes. My new book (out early in 2016) is called Too Dumb to Fail, and will focus on how conservatism was once a proud intellectual philosophy, but has been dumbed down over the years.

Palin has contributed to this phenomenon by playing the victim card, engaging in identity politics, co-opting some of the cruder pop-culture references, and conflating redneck lowbrow culture with philosophical conservatism."

Her Teleprompter apparently failed. This after her and other Republicans had mocked President Obama for using one. Most presidents since Eisenhower have used them, and likely other big-name politicians. Seems like the Republicans want some excuse to hate President Obama, no matter how flimsy it might be.

It was as ridiculous as saying Obama needed Oxygen to live. Oh there goes Obama again, breathing to survive. Yet, the sheep on the right soaked it up and used it as a meme of sorts.

Obama taking a vacation, Obama golfing, Obama using a teleprompter, as if none of this ever happened before.

W sounded bad, with a teleprompter, vacation more than any President in history, and we hear about Obama golfing.

A few years ago, on a different forum, someone posted photos of President Obama bowing politely to greet the Prime Minister if Japan, along with a comment about bowing to foreign powers.

I took me about 20 seconds to find pics of President Bush walking hand in hand with a Saudi Sheik, which I posted with the comment, "There's no sport in this, anymore."

Those people did think and the thought going through their mind was, "I wonder if anyone will notice if I leave this campaign off of my resume."

:lol::lol::lol:

My first impression of her was bad. It got worse. I disliked her arrogant smile. Nevertheless, I took her seriously as a political force. I thought she would have a hypnotic hold on the white lower middle class.

Maybe a hold on the white lower middle class males. Essentially I kept pinching myself, kind of looking around for the camera like it was all staged. She was the new republican savioress and I couldn't understand it. Frighteningly, she would probably have been elected if she had simply kept her mouth shut the whole time and just acted stately. But she lacked the brains to know when to play the game.

Obama bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia and Fox News went ballistic. The absurdity of the right-wing opposition to Obama is unparalleled in our nation's history.

The right wing hated Bill Clinton also, and often for equally specious reasons.

I think that there was more than a little bit of cognitive dissonance going on. The hated libruls were laughing their asses off about what a moron she was.....

Gramps McCain Doubles-Down!!
February 1, 2015

927.gif

"Palin was panned last week after delivering an unusual 40-minute speech at an Iowa conservative summit hosted by GOP Rep. Steve King.

McCain said he hadn't seen the speech, but that it wasn't a disqualifier.

"If she did not give a good speech, she's not the first politician that didn't give a good speech from time to time, including me," he said.

He said Palin could still be an asset for the GOP in 2016, and said he'll "absolutely" have her campaign with him as he seeks re-election in Arizona."

Yeah....sure....more-often-referred-to as lies.

Jerry Falwell;
God's Lil' Lyin' Sack-O'-Shit

"A conservative political organization with ties to the Rev. Jerry Falwell covertly paid more than $200,000 to individuals who made damaging allegations about President Clinton's personal conduct, Salon has learned.

The money was paid out over a three-year period, between l994 and l996, by Citizens for Honest Government, headquartered in Orange County, Calif. The payments are detailed in the organization's confidential accounting ledgers and other internal records, copies of which were obtained by Salon.

The payments and the allegations -- some of which were either fabricated or grossly exaggerated -- were part of a covert and sophisticated political propaganda effort to influence public opinion against President Clinton.

In another instance, in March, 1995, the Arkansas represenative of Citizens for Honest Government signed a contract agreeing to pay two Arkansa state troopers who had made questionable allegations supporting the theory that the late White House Counsel Vincent Foster had been murdered. The troopers, Roger Perry and Larry Patteson, who had previously told news organizations about Clinton's alleged extramarital affairs, had provided information about Foster's death to Kenneth Starr, the Whitewater independent counsel.

The drug smuggling and Vincent Foster allegations were prominently featured in "The Clinton Chronicles", a video produced by Citizens for Honest Government and co-financed, publicized and distributed by Falwell. The notorious 1994 video also insinuated that Clinton's political adversaries often met untimely and suspicious deaths."

Yeah....ol' Granny Palin does appear to be.....

"Upset that Fox News host Bill O’Reilly mocked the prospect of Palin and fellow reality television star Donald Trump running for president as a “reality show,” Palin charged that O’Reilly is trying to undermine the conservative movement just as it prepares to take on Hillary Clinton."

The absurdity of the right-wing opposition to Obama is unparalleled in our nation's history.
um, hello? clinton?
he might have had quite as much bat-shit lunacy levied against him right out of the gate as obama did, but by this point (halfway through 2nd term) in his presidency i'd say clinton was getting more shit from the right than obama is now.

I did find her mildly amusing, especially as it came obvious how clueless she was about anything worth knowing. But I imagine I would not think so if she were allowed anywhere near power. Honestly, looking for a female candidate (or any candidate) and that's the best they could do? What a sorry state US politics has fallen to.
