HUGE SURPRISING NEWS!!! YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT!!!!!!

This thread is lolz. It starts by making fun of Trump for being a diplomatic failure. On the day of the summit this thread is crickets.

Has something happened?
All I knew is that Trump went there.
That’s not worth saying anything about. G7, there’s lots to say about because stuff happened.
Do you have news tha stuff happened in Singapore?

So you skipped the OP?

What’s to be said? All he’s done is play into a known sociopath’s game and elevated him to a level he doesn’t deserve. I’ll let you try to figure out who I’m talking about in that scenario. Hint: it works either way.

China controls NK, so whatever is happening—if anything is happening—is entirely under their control and at their insistence. And since China is now oil-independent and trading partners with Russia, it all traces back to Putin once again effortlessly pulling the strings to protect his asset. Trump hasn’t done shit and won’t have done shit no matter how it finally breaks down, but you can bank on the fact that if anything significant does happen, it was Putin who pushed the button.

It’s actually got to the stage where I’m enjoying watching Republicans all bend over and welcome being butt-fucked by Putin over and over again, thinking that they’re MAGA while Trump profits off the fire sale. The same idiots who used to carpet bomb millions of innocent civilians over fake fear of the “commie pinko domino theory” are now lining up to suck Putin’s cock and they don’t even know it.

Well, they know it; they just don’t care now that they can shout “nigger” again.

Well, Trump conceded to ending war games with South Korea for.... completely catching South Korea by surprise. Once again getting lovey dovey with the enemy and betraying our allies. I can't imagine the talks of impeachment from Congress had Obama conceded such a thing without getting anything in return... and then applauding what a good job at being a dictator Kim is, having taken the reins at such a young age.

Let me state, first of all, as much as I admit to not liking the idea of giving Trump any credit whatsoever, this is better than where we were six months ago. Let me state also that I would give Trump credit where credit is due if it means safety and security for the Korean people.

I fully expect Trump humpers to now claim victory, as they have a habit of grasping at straws to demonstrate their orange hero is accomplishing something. It's far, far to early to take a victory lap, and I think it's plain to see that if anyone else got this same result from North Korea that Trump humpers would be much, much more skeptical.

We have a signed "agreement". We have given up military exercises and defensive military preparedness for very little. The agreement does not define terms, it does not name a North Korean negotiator (which I guarantee will cause problems and slow things down later). It does nothing to verify denuclearization which again (crucially) was not even defined. Traditionally, North Korea has viewed denuclearization as to include the removal of troops from a nuclear state. Our troops. I fully expect those that thought the Iran deal was bad to support this, and I can think of fewer things more hypocritical.

This was a photo op. Little else. It remains to be seen if there will be anything productive to come of it, but it will require a lot of hard work and keeping their eye on the ball, something the Trump administration isn't exactly known to excel at.

I remain quite skeptical, and if anyone else had this result, so would every single Trump humper.

But we aren't anywhere better at the moment. Other than Trump making a large concession for nothing in return. He clearly doesn't know what he is doing and he has alarmed our South Korean allies.

I think this could be akin to Nixon visiting China... he didn't do anything there and nothing changed, but it was part of a long process of China opening up and normalizing relations with the U.S. Nixon was a crook, and so is Trump, but just like back then "only Nixon could visit China", it had to be a republican president this time around as well. Had it been Obama, the republicans would've gone apeshit over appeasing terrorists. Now the door is open for the next, maybe more reasonable president to continue the process.

The Trump and Kim meeting is all just for propaganda anyway. The real meetings are held between North and South Korea, maybe with Chinese supervision.

SHHHHH!!!
If you don't give Cheato the credit for everything, he'll blow it up.

If I call them Rotundo and Dotundo am I insulting anyone?

It's like watching two Lards licking each other's balls and masturbating each other in self-love while they plot how to control a bigger piece of the barnyard.

Nixon and Kissinger worked out the "One China" policy that opened up trade and normalization of relations with China without actually conceding hegemony of China over Taiwan and other free Chinese territories. And he did it only after there had been proper diplomatic groundwork ahead of his trip to China.

At this point, Trump has managed to cement Kim Jong Un's position in North Korea, having managed to drive a wedge between the US and its South Korean ally. Kim gave away nothing that he hadn't already done--a vague pledge to denuclearize. That was less than Bush got before NK reneged on their agreement with him. It was less than Obama got. As far as sanctions go, China also wanted to drive a wedge between the US and South Korea. So Kim should get a medal for this. Better than that, they will now move to pull down the economic sanctions that were the only thing really worrying Kim. He doesn't need the US to end its economic sanctions, because he doesn't actually get much from the markets that the US controls. In any case, Trump has set about messing up the Western alliance, and that provides great entertainment for all the autocratic regimes that oppose it.

ETA: Oh, and I left out the biggest concession that Kim made. Donald Trump finally got to shake Kim Jong Un's hand. No American president has ever managed to pull that off in the past. Not GW Bush. Not Barack Obama. Think about it.

They shook hands, exchanged some verbal pleasantries, and Trump suddenly decided that the war games we were planning were just too darned expensive.

Little Rocket Man won, and he didn't even have to put up a fight.

You're absolutely right. Trump accomplished so much. He reduced US influence in the area, sidelined Japans concerns, provided DPRK some street cred in the international community and ensured China will be the dominant power in the region for years to come. Not sure if that takes talent, but it takes something.
My favourite quote was Trumps description of Kim at the summit:

"Anybody that takes over a situation like he did at 26 years of age and is able to run it and run it tough, I don't say it was nice, he ran it — very few people at that age, you can take one out of 10,000 probably who couldn't do it."

I don't even know what the fuck that means.

Not to mention, Russia has also wanted an end to the South Korean joint military exercises for some time now. Suddenly, Trump blindsides the Pentagon and South Korea by announcing an end to them, and requires North Korea to do nothing for the concession. It's difficult not to think Trump really is taking his orders from Putin. Especially since we know they talk regularly.

I fucking hope Trump is taking his marching orders from Russia, otherwise all these decisions are of his own free will. That's a little more disturbing.

Trump's interview on ABC seemed to betray Trump's lack of preparation into the meeting with the North Korean dictator, who is talented, I might add.

Trump didn't seem to understand the nuance with North Korean denuclearization (his spoken position) and Korean Peninsula denuclearization (what he signed off on).

Trump gives up military exercises and give NK a seat at the table. But to get something in return, you have to give up something or not get everything you want. That really is part of negotiating successful outcomes.

With that in mind, isn't it great that NK gave up so much?

The old saying, "That deal isn't worth the paper it's written on" couldn't be more true than it is regarding the little four point memo that came out of this.

Compare this to the Iran deal, and the differences are so vast. That was a complex, hard negotiated, time consuming deal wherein a concrete outcome with tangible benefits was had by both sides.

This was a fucking photo op and yet another daily opportunity for self-aggrandizement by Trump.

Holy crap!

Yeah, this falls under the WTF category.
article said:
The film went on like this for more than four minutes, with brief interludes of missiles, soldiers and warships interrupting the pageantry. Some journalists, unable to understand the Korean-language narration, assumed they were watching one of Pyongyang’s infamous propaganda films. “What country are we in?” asked a reporter from the filing center.

But then the video looped, playing this time in English.

And then Trump walked onto the stage and confirmed what some had already realized.

The film was not North Korean propaganda. It had been made in America, by or on the orders of his White House, for the benefit of Kim.

Kim knew exactly how to respond to this too, when he told Trump that people will think this is from a "science fiction movie". Exactly what the reality star wants to hear. The Art of the Deal was played.
