I read that as John W. Campbell the sci-fi writer and editor who wrote "Who Goes There?" which became the movie "The Thing". maybe a descendent, hahaha.

Howard W. Campbell Jr. is the name of the Nazi protagonist in Kurt Vonnegut's Mother Night. Surely not a coincidence?

The original story was quite good. The black and white movie was not much like it, but the color remake did a good job.Here is a pic of the "Thing" based off the original story
