Women have not been getting the credit they deserve in science for centuries. The only difference now is that the 'scientific establishment' is, by and large, much more fair in allocating plaudits to women, and may even be making an effort to redress past omissions in order to encourage more women into STEM, which I think is basically a good thing. Unfortunately, there is still an annoying minority living back in the gender dark ages, and parts of the internet give them an outlet to express their disgraceful and regressive attitudes.

No, I don't see that as flaming or insults.

Sometimes, humor doesn't translate well on the internets--even with silly emojis. There are people whose humor I often misunderstand because emojis don't necessarily serve as good substitutes for body language, facial expressions, etc.

And...given the subject: a woman who is being abused on the internet for....being female and getting recognition for her scientific discoveries? It wasn't that much of a stretch to misread your comment as hostile even if you didn't intend it as hostile.
