January 6 Hearings Live

What he believes about the election really doesn't matter in this case. He chose to do something he repeatedly was told was illegal.

True, but that doesn't mean that he really believed what he was being told. I read Mary L Trump's book called Too Much and Never Enough, which gave her experiences regarding his grasp on reality. According to her, he has always had trouble accepting the reality of failure and simply refuses to believe that anything could have been his fault. He lies and contradicts himself all the time, but then he comes to believe his own lies. If she was right about him, he very easily could have convinced himself that he really had won and that the election was stolen from him. He would stop at nothing to get at the facts of how he was cheated out of his victory. The official vote counts could not possibly have been right. Even former Republican allies and supporters were refusing to help him uncover the facts, because they wanted him out of the way. A bunch of backstabbers.

Raw Story is reporting tomorrow's hearing mystery witness is Cassidy Hutchinson, an aide to Mark Meadows. She was a direct witness to what happened leading up to the insurrection. She was a fly on the wall witnessing a lot of skullduggery.

Google Slate Magazine, who is Cassidy Hutchinson for more. Mark Meadows was Trump's chief of staff. Meadows has refused to cooperate with the January 6 committee. Hutchinson was his executive assistant. She is thus eyewitness to the efforts by Meadows and Trump to steal the election. Hutchinson has already been deposed and has testified 20 hours to the January 6 committee. She is going to sing loud and clear.

Hasn't she testified already? Did she have an "OMG I forgot to show you this other thing" moment? Makes no sense.

She testified to the committee for 20 hours. I kind of suspect that the January 6 committe wants the American public and the DOJ to know what she testified to. Among other things, Mark Meadows burning incriminating documents and Trump shredding same and clogging toilets with them. Since her office kept track of meetings and phone calls and such details, there should be a rich paper trail and other hard evidence to corroborate her testimony and testimony of others. Testimony of other witnesses later on will thus have a paper trail to corroborate testimony and debunk lies and denials from certain parties.

Raw Story claims there may have been credible death threats made against Hutchinson's life.

Another rumor is that they have video done by a documentary filmmaker of the Trump kids talking about how violence on J6 would be justified because the election was stolen and approving of the illegal election fraud scheme.

Anything short of Trump shooting someone on 5th ave would be underwhelming after all the hype they've built up.

There is hype, but we created that hype. Regardless, it needs to be something substantial to me.

A short-notice meeting while the house is in recess is not the source of hype. Ok.

They didn't say "This is going to be big league stuff." We are anticipating something big, but nothing has been stated to support it.

Over time, many people lose their sense of outrage. The crimes committed by Trump and his enablers should have resulted in removal from office and jail terms. I don't need a higher dosage of sensationalism to get my sense of outrage back. It never left me. These hearings are absolutely necessary to build criminal cases, because our national law enforcement agencies don't seem to be doing their job under Merrick Garland. Only public exposure has any possibility of getting the DoJ to acknowledge its duty. Otherwise, they'll continue looking the other way.

President Donald Trump was informed that attendees at a Jan. 6, 2021, rally near the White House were armed, wanted security removed from the area and wanted the crowd to march to the Capitol, Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to White House chief of staff Mark Meadows testified Tuesday.

Trump waved off concerns that the rally-goers had been reported to be armed with rifles, pistols, knives, brass knuckles and other weapons, Hutchinson told the House select committee investigating the insurrection. Trump told aides he wanted security precautions lifted in order to increase the crowd size. He also wanted the crowd to march to the Capitol, Hutchinson said.“They aren’t here to hurt me, “ Trump said, according to Hutchinson’s testimony.
...and...?

Her testimony is extremely compelling: complete disregard for danger with numerous individuals heavily armed/body armor at rally on the part of Meadows, POTUS. Trump ordered mags ( weapon detectors) removed because “They aren’t here to hurt ME.” Wanted big crowd that make a good photo shot. Ordered SS to remove mags. Giuliani indicated weeks prior that he/Trump knew of the rally and that it was going to be big.

Meadows on vehicle taking calls at rally—closed door (twice)instead of talking to Hutchinson about impending threat—flat affect on the part of Meadows upon hearing of weapons. Notes prior concern on her part, other staff re: rhetoric about ‘fighting fir Trump.’

Staff was aware of legal charges that would arise if they went to the capitol. Trump wanted to drive to capitol.

Trump telling crowd he was going to capitol took staff by surprise. Lots of scrambling to prevent this from happening. Trump was irate when he was told they couldn’t go to capitol because they didnt have enough assets to go to capitol. Trump tried to wrest control of vehicle from driver of presidential car( the Beast)& physically assaulted him. After being forcefully taken to Whitehouse, Trump still tried to go to the capitol and was prevented.

Previously upon hearing there was no election fraud: Trump threw his lunch at the wall. Trump had thrown dishes or pulled table cloth crashing plates to the floor on multiple previous occasions that she was aware of.

She’s leaving under escort of capitol police.

I typed this contemporaneously with her testimony.

If only every American thought this way. Some of them voted for the apprentice.
