Knife of peace in Arras, France

The terrorist was a Tunisian fake asylum seeker whose application was rejected in 2020 but had not been deported these three years.
Europe really needs to seriously reform its migration system.
And you know this person was a fake asylum seeker because.....?
Note his words: "whose application was rejected in 2020".
Reasoning fail - Applications can be rejected for all sorts of reasons. A rejection does not mean the seeker was faking asylum, it means the seeker failed to make a convincing case. Without knowing the reasons for the rejection, one can speculate it this man was a fake asylum seeker but one cannot know whether he was or not.
truly Trumpian logic, or Bill Clintonian--we all know "eating ain't cheating", right.

Indeed. And the fact that he wasn't deported at that point suggests that he was appealing that decision.

It's a fundamental principle of law in a free country that everyone is entitled to appeal a decision that is manifestly unjust, or that didn't take into account all of the evidence, or that was made without due consideration for all relevant law.

I know that it pains some people to think that the law might apply equally to immigrants and asylum seekers as it does to natural born citizens, but that's actually an essential part of the same national character that those people are allegedly seeking to defend in their desire to block immigration.

There are no fake asylum seekers. If someone says they want asylum, they're an asylum seeker; The question is whether they're a qualified asylum seeker or not, and that determination is (necessarily) sometimes a long and difficult process.

You might as well talk about "fake defendants" in a bank robbery trial - people accused of robbing a bank aren't faking a defence, even if they're actually guilty - they're entitled to defend themselves, and (in many cases) to appeal if convicted. To suggest that they're only pretending to be innocent is both prejudicial and fallacious - the entire point of the legal system is to determine who is pretending, and who isn't.
right--like there's no "fake news"--playing with words to try to wiggle out of a tight spot.
Also, why should an appeal take 5 years to resolve?

Another Islamic terrorist attack in Europe. This time, two Swedes were shot to death in Brussels.
Brussels shooting: Police shoot dead attacker who killed Swedes
BBC said:
The 45-year-old man, named in Belgian media as Abdesalem, was shot in a café in the Schaerbeek neighbourhood.
A third Swedish citizen was seriously injured in the attack, which took place 5km (3 miles) from the stadium where Belgium was playing Sweden to qualify for the Euro 2024 football tournament.
The victims are all men in their 60s and 70s, Swedish officials said.
The attack began at 19:00 (17:00 GMT) on Monday, when a man opened fire with an automatic rifle on the Boulevard d'Ypres - north of the city centre.
[...]
He is believed to be a Tunisian man who was in Belgium illegally, after his asylum application was rejected in 2020. Sweden's prosecutor's office said it believes he was inspired to commit the killings by the Islamic State (IS) group.
Belgian Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden said the automatic weapon found on him was the same as the one used in the attack.

Let me requote: "He is believed to be a Tunisian man who was in Belgium illegally, after his asylum application was rejected in 2020. Sweden's prosecutor's office said it believes he was inspired to commit the killings by the Islamic State (IS) group."
The OP is about a Chechen from Russia not the killer on Belgium, Why do you think your quote indicates the Tunisian was a fake asylum seeker as opposed to a rejected asylum seeker?

If blaming the questioning is victim blaming then isn’t blaming the failure to hold or deport the perpetrator also victim blaming?
We have no evidence that he committed any prior offenses. He was associated with the jihadists but we have seen no indication he did anything before this. Being radicalized isn't a crime.

I have no problem with calling someone whose application was rejected a fake asylum seeker. Once it's determined he's not qualified what's wrong with "fake"?

In Europe, I believe countries have quotas for refugee/ asylum seekers. If I am correct, rejection need not mean not qualified.

Moreover, fake suggests some intent to deceive which may not be present.

Knife of peace in Chicago USA
CHICAGO (AP) — An Illinois landlord accused of fatally stabbing a 6-year-old Muslim boy and seriously wounding his mother was charged with a hate crime after police and relatives said he singled out the victims because of their faith and as a response to the war between Israel and Hamas.

Nope. No bingo hits here. Dog bites man is NOT news.
You'll need very different, less common-place, news if you want to help the Ilk with their Bingo solitaires.
What are you trying to say here? Please clarify.
That Illinois landlords stabbing their own tenants is as common as dogs biting people. Didn't you know? It's a Chicago thing.

Maybe. Maybe not. To address this we'd have to care enough to Google and find what, if anything, M.U.D. is supposed to mean.

One thing is certain though. In today's America, violence by "Christians" against Muslims is much more prevalent than violence by Muslims against Christians. There are more guns than people in America, and a large majority of those guns are owned by Trumplickers, not by rational humans. It was the Trumplickers, not the rational humans, who mounted insurrection on January 6.

Witnesses and legal staff have declared fear for their lives and their families' lives due to Trump's words. The FBI has declared domestic right-wing terrorism to be the biggest threat they face. (Trumplickers respond that FBI is still under control of the Hillary-Soros deep state!)

The petite Yvette Felarca pushed a big strong neo-Nazi with the palm of her hand, and the Trumplickers, gun nuts, and apologists for neo-Nazis and Trumpist terror went after her as though she were the jackbooted thug.

The Ilk here at IIDB cherry-picks acts of violence by Muslims or against Trumplickers, while ignoring the beam in their own Ilk's eyes. Cowardly Trumplickers are treated as heroes. Elect Kyle Rittenhouse to Congress!

Glad to help with your misconceptions.

In the US you're in a lot more danger from the right than the left.

Sorry, let me clarify.

Swammi made a ludicrous claim of the sort entirely typical of him every time he starts going on about other posters' "ilk". As I've pointed out to him before, using "ilk" is a red-flag that you're making an ad hominem argument.

Strong in this one, the whataboutism is.

This is a thread about today's Europe, not today's America. If France et al. had American immigration policies they would not have gotten themselves into the fix they're in and they too could have had the dubious blessings of more* sectarian killings of Muslims than by Muslims.

(* More, assuming we don't count 9/11.)

I.e., everyone who doesn't favor your narrative is a Trumplicker. :rolleyes2: Strong in this one, the Manichaeism is.

In the US you're in a lot more danger from the right than the left.
When you add up "danger from" are you counting only explicit acts of politically motivated violence? Did you include vanilla apolitical street crime that's a consequence of leftists' anti-police and anti-prosecution attitudes?

Yeah, I was only counting political violence. Most violence is neither left nor right.

If France et al. had American immigration policies they would ...
... be a barely inhabitable wasteland of frost and snow.

For France to have similar immigration policies to those of the USA would require massive changes in geography, such that France was isolated from the rest of Europe, Africa, and Asia; Such a radical change in geography would be highly unlikely to preserve the Gulf Stream as a major ocean current, and as Paris is as far north as the northern part of Newfoundland, it would be pretty chilly.

;)

Did you include vanilla apolitical street crime that's a consequence of leftists' anti-police and anti-prosecution attitudes?
Mere attitudes don't have such consequences; though enacted policies might.

Can you demonstrate that apolitical street crime is a consequence of leftist policies?

The fact that incarceration rates in the US are far higher than anywhere in Europe, but that street crime is not notably lower, strongly hints that rightist pro-police and pro-prosecution attitudes aren't effective in reducing that kind of crime.
