As I like to say on Christianity and gay Christians, I don't care. Christianity is all nonsense to begin with. Gay or straight.

Given what the bible says I don't see how one can be Christian and gay, but that is a personal choice for gays.

If the degree of the sexual act is in that area of lust, then it's mentioned in the OT. That also includes males with males,even heterosexuals.

Some Christians believe Eve's sin was of a sexual nature - interestingly, not a sin that starts with Adam (then who and Eve?). Anyway... fruit of a particular sort is described in a song.

Song of Solomon 2:3 – “Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my beloved among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste.”

This could fit the scene when Adam and Eve felt the embarrassment standing in front of God...hence they needed to cover themselves with fig leaves to hide their feelings of shame.

Neither is sex between men. People have used religion as an excuse to kill the first borns of neighbor populations and then claim goddidit, even celebrate it. And others use religion to commit to charity and humility. Neither lesbian sex nor religion are necessary for good or evil. It's people who decide how to use them.

...however,quite simply... ..adding your word substitutes has been introduced somewhat rather late in the game so to speak. If it ain't in the early scriptures, which would be noticeable like your example which you put the word religiously in bold. You would need to go further and change every relating verse in the same manner to be contextual. For this particular idea. IOW.. it would be too obvious a fake text.

I DO get your 'point of view' though... that doesn't need the flawed notion of changing words willy-nilly

Do you avert your eyes in horror at the sight of a naked vagina or female breasts? A female nursing a baby in public? A horrific immoral sight is it not? A woman in public breast feeding a baby.

Do you object to lesbians because it fundamentally offends you in some way, or is it just because of a scripture written by a tribal society over 2000 years ago?

Historical records show homosexuality goes far back in human history. I believe Native Americans had homosexuals.

The late Bob Dole a republican from Kansas said if homosexuality has a natural origin then tye shud not be suppressed. I forget the exact words. Enlightened for a Christian republican of his generation.

This reminds me of something that happened at the huge Methodist Church on the corner of my street. A nice women I met at the Dem meetups told me that the church hired an openly gay choir director and half of the members left the church, while the other have remained. I once had a friendly acquaintance who was a member of that church and when I told her I was an atheist, she said' Cool, so is one of my sons". While I don't need mythology in my life, at least there are some good people who do. That church does lots of charity work, like their good book tells them to and I don't recall reading anything in the NT that said being gay was wrong. Besides their Jesus is supposed to be very loving and forgiving.

I did read some of the FB comments. I had to laugh at all the ones that said Jesus was returning soon. We've only heard that for over 2000 years. Plus didn't he say, "Surely I come quickly"? Then again, being on the young side, perhaps he was talking about having an orgasm.
