Let's Face It...Trump is going to Win.

well, at least if Trump wins, I will likely be able to anonymously buy online all kinds of assault weapons to keep the resulting zombie apocalypse at bay.

Yeah, I'm baffled by it. Whenever Clinton is directly compared to Trump, as at the conventions or the debates, she soars. Yet when there's a period of time when they are both doing their own thing, she gradually sinks. Its like the background is hostile to her and favorable to Trump. I'm flummoxed by any tendency that might lead people to think that Trump is better than her. Yet the tendency clearly exists and asserts itself in the in-between times of the election.

I can only hope that when people find themselves at the moment of decision that a bit of the direct comparison trend will assert itself in their minds. Yet of course the voters who are still on the fence are the ones who likely won't show up. I suppose that might work against Trump more than Clinton, if he's benefitting from some kind of background prejudice.

I think background prejudice is a good explanation for a lot of things going on these days.
It's not that they think he's better than her but that he's not her.

Also that he's not part of either Establishment.

People need to start coming to grips with the fact that the developed world is in the midst of a giant anti-Establishment backlash and the Establishment has no one to blame but themselves.

Right.

I think a whole lot of people have seriously under-estimated how much hate is out here for HRC.

As for the establishment, There is a belief in neo-liberal circles that "we, the ruling elite, can do pretty much what we want to to our constituencies because they have not place to go." In the USA, minorities, labor, young people, the poor, all vote in larger numbers for dems than repubs. Not because the dems have been all that supportive over the last 3 decades, but because the alternative was the party actively working against the wishes of these groups. And now those people with no place else to go have grown sick and tired of this situation.

If the campaigns of Trump and Sanders prove nothing else, they prove this: People are finding someplace else to go.

Yup. And they don't even care if it's the dumper. Hard to blame them. (I will anyway, if Trump is elected)

yup. I agree wholeheartedly. We need something dramatic to compare the two. We need a video with Trump using the N-word. Or just something really awful. But his handlers seem to have him on a tight leash. Or maybe some really dramatic charges against him.

Yeah, something a lot more concerning than say, child rape...

I think if Trump wins, he will be impeached fairly quickly and with the support of the Republicans. They would then get Pence as president which would warm the cockles of the establishment Republicans.

Pence has probably warmed a few cockles already in his past. ;)

Old news. The public has already forgotten that in the overwhelming rush of news about the fact that there might, might, be an email from Clinton on Anthony Weiners' laptop.

Big Mo has been on Trump's side since Sept 3rd. Any day now, either Colorado, NH, or Penn will start leaning Trump (most likely within 10 days or less).

Poor Joe Biden, the guy that could have stomped Trump.

Eyup. Right again. Big Mo is dead long live the new big Mo. http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/ 67-33 Clinton and moving away from Trump fast. FL and NV are back in Clinton column, NC back to 50-50 and Ohio for Trump (hear the thump) is dropping like a rock.

Doncha luvit, doncha luvit, doncha just luvit.

maxparrish does tongue in cheek about as well as anyone. :joy: :) :joy:

In early October I predicted that Trump would win, and that his subpar performance in the first debate would have no lasting impact. Given the reaction of some posters (and polls) I thought that perhaps I was wrong.

So what was that about tongue in cheek?

After tonight, are you still laughing?

I'm not. Sadly, Athena (and I) were right.

Above, I said your initial analysis was wrong, that he might pull it out, he did not surge after the debates. I now want to say I was wrong, and you were right to begin with. I think the polls were wrong all along, and Trump continued to lead after the debates in key states. All of the analysis by all of the pundits got it wrong. Not one poll was really right. Not even the ones showing Trump ahead (he lost the popular vote). Not one poll predicted Pennsylvania, Michigan or Wisconsin. Utterly pathetic on their part. Max, you should take over Nate Silver's position and kick him to the curb.

Well, look when Max and I agree, y'all need to take that as a sign.
