March For Our Lives - March 24

That was today? Oh dear, I was going to participate.

Did anyone march today?

We joined a rally on a state capitol steps today. It really wasn't planned, but when we realized we had the opportunity it was a bit of a no-brainer.

I'm cautiously optimistic that things are going to start changing this time. The right-wing/NRA attacks on Parkland survivors have revealed to all but the most stupid what the NRA really is and stands for.

This!

We were in Parkland. The march went from the park to the high school, and back. I haven't heard any crowd estimates yet, but it was more than they expected. A lot of people did not even get in the park for the speeches.

A friend of mine was answering someone’s snarky comment about what do these kids know, they should be asking us adults what’s the right answer. She said,

“You’ve had 50 years to come up with a solution. Now you only have until they can vote. Tick. Tock.”

I didn’t go cause my knee is stove up. But I watched online and there was an event in my town with more than 1% of the population attending (another 1% was at other demonstrations in nearby cities or DC). Which is a pretty strong turnout!

I, we, did not. Wished we had the time and energy. But don't.

I wish them all the succcess. These are kids to be proud of.

The croud in DC sure looked like it dwarfed Trump's inauguration crowd. Wonder if the orange diaper boy shit his pants. I hope so.

Interesting that it took a 40% Jewish school getting shot up to get the famous Jewish social activism trait to do it's thing.

Wow. Really?

I know a guy who was at the March on Washington - the one where Dr. King gave his "I have a dream" speech. The guy I know is Jewish, but I never really thought of that march as an example of Jewish social activism.

I guess everything comes back into fashion. Are we going to call the MSM the Jewish run media again now?

I had to work.

I did see/hear/read some of the speeches: I hope everyone was listening as one of the young people was pointing out that they will be voting—very soon.

Around here they had voter registration right at the march. From the news it sounded like some of the other locations did the same.

Parkland did. Multiple voter registration tables and many people circulating through the crowds

How about kids, instead of looking to someone else to solve their problem, do something about maybe taking CPR classes or trying to deal with situations where there is a violent shooter.
I can't help but agree with Rick here. I mean, if teenagers aren't willing to learn how to perform on the fly trauma surgery in a war zone to save the lives of those shot... why should we lift a finger?

As if participating in our democratic process more than most Americans ever will is "... looking to someone else to solve their problem".

If your ideology causes you to say something that stupid, it's time to re-evaluate.

What's old is new again, and I just got my Stahlhelm back from the cleaners! Lucky me!
