More Trouble for Melania?

I agree and disagree. While it does expose a level of hypocrisy in his statements regarding immigration, there's also the sympathy factor of his having his wife attacked. Also, if someone's going to put together photos like the ones which came out this week, I don't care what fucking laws she breaks on the way to getting that done - she could eat a guy on the way to the photo shoot and I'd let it slide.

Also, we don't want the "Trump is crazy" narrative" to get too big too quickly. Having him spend a week on another dumbshit distraction instead of attacking Clinton will be good and when that distraction involves his wife, it's more difficult to other Republicans to try and dump him and/or unendorsed him while the main story about him involves his wife's legal difficulties. That keeps them tied to him longer, harming their own chances, and helps stop any effort to get him off the ballot before September when more states' filing deadlines pass and it becomes more of a cumbersome process.

It's not like there's suddenly going to be a dearth of crazy things that Trump says to get people to question his mental stability over the next few months. The opportunities will keep arising.
 
Anything that keeps bad news about him is good as far as I'm concerned.

I don't care if she posed nude and did lesbian soft core stuff. It's her life and her right. But the hypocrisy continually shoved in the face of the religious right can never be excessive. And the extra dose of the immigration hypocrisy just adds more to the plate.

That was some other people. Hillary was the first First Lady to become a political target, but she was a political operative, so it was fair as anything in politics can be.

The treatment that Michelle Obama received from the conservative media opened the gate and after that, wives, family, and pets are fair game, if it seems to help the opposition.

I recall Rush Limbaugh making fun of Chelsea Clinton when Bill was in office, saying she was the White House dog. On the grounds that Chelsea wasn't classically purty like all good Republican teenage girls are.

At least I think that was what Limbaugh intended. I have to admit, sometimes his humor goes over my head. He says something, I recoil, and his audience laughs as if he's the reincarnation of Groucho Marx.
 
So if she was, will that make Dems support her automatically? Or is she not Mexican or Muslim enough for automatic and unconditional Dem support?

Democrats are not going to be a problem for her.

I'm sure she'll be OK. After all, she is an attractive white woman, whom we've seen naked. Don't forget her anchor baby. A white woman with a white baby is sure to get a pass.

I imagine of Trump's supporters demand she be deported, Democrats would say it wasn't necessary.

I have been feeling bad for her, as well. Early reports were that she did not not him to run. I suspect she realized her life would be under a microscope too, and didn't want any of it

None of Trump's supporters are going to call for her deportation either, but their reason will be exactly what you said above. She's white and pretty.

It is only the brown people that Trump and his supporters want deported.

Moreover - I don't see anyone attacking her immigration status, merely the hypocrisy of the anti-immigration demagogues.
 
Well, once again this story has legs due to the Trumps' response to it. They put out a tweet (of course) which discussed the topic but didn't deal with any of the issues related to the topic. So now, there's another news cycle of them talking about the response and how the statements don't match up to the facts. It also ties into Trump bringing in models on work visas and not paying them what he told the immigration department he would pay them, so that's more immigration fraud on his part.

An additional question is that if Melania was working here illegally, did she pay taxes on the money she earned while working here?

Melania is a birther and also bragged about her immigration, "I obeyed the law. I did it the right way. I didn't just sneak in and stay here. So I think that's what people should do." She brought the scrutiny on herself.

Well, the old rich guy she married is still puttering around after a decade or so, so it wasn't completely right. Still, it's been a good effort.
