As the Title implies... these movies are quite different if taken backwards.

Gone with the Wind - Messiah performs miracles such as extinguishing the fires in Atlanta and resurrecting her husband and is fawned at by all those around her.

Jaws - Shark scares beach locals by throwing up people until they reopen the beaches.

The Fifth Element - Universe's greatest threat is expelled by spreading stones apart and then hero takes a nap.

Saving Private Ryan - Band of soldiers retreat from the beaches of Normandy, but not before leaving a private adrift in some random division.

Gidget - Teen surfer icon suffers from apparent head injury and slowly forgets how to surf.

12 Angry Men - Originally agreeing to not convict the defendant, the jury's discussions head towards conviction as jurors get convinced to convict.

Any James Bond Film - At least one woman is better off and alive instead of being dead.

Twelve Monkees
Straightforward time-travel effort to loosen a future tyranny's hold on humanity fails, but Bruce Willis is resurrected and saner thru the effort.

Conan The Destroyer The queen of Sadizar breaks up her cabinet if advisors and lends them to Conan for a quest. First, lay a dark god yo rest in the throne room, then scatter god-raising artifacts through the land.
Grace Jones is so annoying they finally leave her chained up for sport and continue on.

Star Wars

An awards ceremony is interrupted by the nearby implosion of a nebula, which reveals a hidden battle station that many ships spend the rest of the movie trying to fly away from. Several are trapped inside and are almost killed by a samurai, but a space wizard suddenly pops into existence to rescue them. Nevertheless, they are obliged to leave their princess in a cell block on the battle station, and flee further and further into the wilderness of a desert planet, splitting up as they go.

Momento:

John Gammell (AKA John G/Jimmy G), a corrupt cop, was sent to investigate a former insurance claims adjuster's (Sammy) wife's (Catherine a diabetic) death. Upon investigating he found evidence that Sammy suffers from anterograde amnesia after an incident that resulted in him accidently overdosing his wife (who couldn't accept marriage to his amnesia) on insulin. Sammy however is in denial and is obsessed with finding his wife's real killer. John being a corrupt cop & feeling sympathy took advantage of Sammy's amnesia by providing him with a gun, clues & leading Sammy to believe that he (John) knew who his wife's killer was. John used Sammy in this way to kill two criminals. However his plans took an unfortunate turn when Sammy who remained obsessed, in denial & suffering from anterograde amnesia didn't remember any of it & ultimately convinced himself that killing John would avenge his wife.

I nailed it right... Right? :tomato:

Wall-E - Time travelling people leave from Earth to return to Earth.

Finding Nemo - Fish race across the ocean from Australia to find Nemo at school in a coral reef.

ET - Alien lands on Earth to meet with the government scientists, then runs away from a kid to go back home.

Das Boot - Boat salvager helps salvage a U-Boat, then travels in the U-Boat to help salvage ships in the Atlantic.

9 to 5 - Plucky and dependable office staff help rescue their boss.

Superman Returns - Superman goes away.

The Passion of the Christ - Death by nails and compressive asphixiation leads to blood pooling around a victim from an 8-hour scourging with hook-tipped whips. (Rated 4 cactus dildos on the Marquis DeSade Filmfan website.)

Thor Ragnarok
An extended family of space wizards founds Asgard , travels apart, to be reunited with their missing father on Earth before he sends them to a New York Wizard-surgeon.

Groundhog Day

A fast-moving saga of an even faster moving progression of dementia, as a newscaster tries the same thing over and over and over, and gets worse and worse and worse at everything.

My Dinner With Andre

Old friends who don't get along meet for dinner. Their disparate worldviews converge, then they don't see each other for five years.

A young child is born in to an old lady and grows up homeless, but finds love and then fights in WWII before dying as an old man.

What movie is that?

Gotta be science fiction of some sort.
Let's see... a movie where a guy dies, then fights in WWII, finds love, becomes homeless and then is born to an old lady?
I'm stumped.

Raiders of the Lost Ark: a large cast of characters goes to great lengths to take a box from a government warehouse and bury it in Egypt.

But that's not how Raiders goes. It goes like this...

A guy starts with nothing. Then after a cast of characters goes to great lengths, the guy has a priceless treasure. Then after a cast of characters goes to great lengths, the guy has nothing again. Then after a cast of characters goes to great lengths, the guy has a completely different priceless treasure. Then after a cast of characters goes to great lengths, the guy has nothing again.

Point being, Raiders is ineligible according to the thread's rule: "these movies are quite different if taken backwards".

I dunno, the propeller that mixes chemicals and tiny bone fragments together and makes a big muscular man would look WAY different in reverse.

Young Frankenstein
Doctor calms the local villagers, alienates his lab and castle staff, reunites with a lost fiance, disassembles a failed experiment, finally seals everything away for his grandfather to continue the work. Dedicates his life to more modern science.
