"Moving forward" vs Prosecuting Criminals

The Nuremberg Trials after WWII became the basis for international laws holding national leaders personally accountable for their crimes.

We need a Nuremberg Trial for Trump and his political appointees and political allies who purposely have broken our laws, tried to break the US Constitution and tried, and may still succeeds in breaking our democracy and rule of law.

Not to mention shit they've done elsewhere.

It's true. Maybe an international panel of inquiry or tribunal can be established. Then they can line the Trump Crime Family up against a wall, and the US can keep its hands clean.

But I sincerely hope that the Biden administration clears out the Trump Swamp. Prosecuting everyone who has wronged America and our institutions.

I think that publicly at least, Biden has to keep his hands clean, and so should Harris.
But he (or they) can certainly act behind the scenes to make sure plenty of DOJ resources are dedicated to the cleanup on aisle forty five.

Obama did not go after Bush II's admin for getting the US involved in torture and other mistreatment of enemy combatants.

Bushbaby and/or his administration were never acting on behalf of a foreign adversary to whom he was indebted, intentionally damaging American interests or attacking democracy for personal gain. He was just somewhat stupid and needlessly cruel, not conscientiously malevolent.

What about Dick Cheney? He was the mastermind behind getting us into that war that was supplied by the mega-corp he CEO'ed. He manipulated us into war to make billions of dollars. Bush was the mark, not the con. Dick should have been hung for treason.

I think Bush II was a proxy for Bush I. Bush I left a lot of unfinished business when Bill "it's the economy, stupid" Clinton won the election in 92.

Things like Trump calling state governors, Georgia, asking the governor to throw out the results of the election and send Trump the delegates needs to be something close to a capital offense. It's no less than trying to mount a coup against the United States. Lawless behavior by the resident can't be just forgiven.

Any public servant that lies, can be shown to intentionally be lying, where the lie is material to any public service and the negative impact of the lie can be measured, should hold penalty of 10 years in federal prison and disqualify them for any future public role, as a minimum sentence.
Any media company perpetuating any such lie beyond a reasonable "take down" period loses any and all indemnification from liability... i.e - the shit can be sued out of them for any perceived damage, while the politician they are magnifying heads for jail - the sentence impacted by the degree of difficulty getting their lies "taken down".

Yes, the Halliburton fiasco was indefensible. The laws need to be stiffened up, but that's going to have to wait for a Dem controlled Congress and White House, since the GOP is AWOL on all these matters.

Plus, fines should equal some multiple of all personal profits realized from such activity. I think that hurts them more than months, or even years in rent-free federal luxury accommodations. The prospect of living in poverty for the rest of their lives could actually be a deterrent.

Nope. It's all about plausible deniability. Let the states go after the orange menace. Biden cant really do anything to stop it, and that's all he has to say. It's out of his hands. After a prosecution, if additional federal charges are recommended, leave it to the DOJ (which I hope would not interfere with) and let them go after it. If the GOP/MAGAts scream at him to stop it (I'm sure the term 'witch hunt' will be thrown around a lot) he can just say he's part of the Law and Order party and following the law.

Perhaps I over-interpreted his calls for "unity" with the Republicans. I don't think they'll accept anything else, you know. They already believe Trump is a martyr of a corrupt Washignton, putting him in jail will only encourage them. But it should be done anyway, for the sake of the democratic process as a whole. I've been against the further investigations. That's the republicans stick.
