Split New York City Mayoral Race

To notify a split thread.
Your linked article says the budget is “mostly untouched”. It says he lowered the cap on officers from 40,000 to 35,000 and the current number of officers is 34,000.
Without a proper analysis we can’t know if the NYPD is over or under funded. So it’s just an emotional argument to say he wants to “cut funding for NYpD” expecting us to have a knee jerk reaction that this is bad.

And no mention at all of the funding cuts for local and state law enforcement by the Feds.

Just checking in again to see if there's sharia law in NYC yet, or if it's burned to the ground. Nope. OK then, will check back in a few months.

Most importantly, Mamdani delivers a great sports victory speech.

It has, but everyone is now waiting for New York's inevitable descent into Sharia law
Nobody is saying he is himself a Sharia supporter, but he is certainly an Israel-hater and his wife openly supports Hamas.
Zohran Mamdani’s wife liked social media posts celebrating Oct. 7 attacks
Also, during his rap career as "Mr. Cardamom", he made a "song" supporting members of a Palestinian charity who were convicted of funneling money to Hamas.
Socialist NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani once rapped about his ‘love’ for Hamas terror-funding group ‘Holy Land Five’
because the Mayor eats with his fingers or something.
Yes, that was pretty gauche. It's weird eating a rice dish with fingers.
You may counter that we eat foods like chicken wings and sandwiches with fingers too, but I would say that a) it is qualitatively different than rice, and b) people don't usually eat those foods during interviews.
If a southern Republican moved to NYC and ran for office (a real-life Arthur Branch perhaps?) and he stuffed his face with barbecue ribs or lemon pepper wet wings, he would also be seen as nekulturny. Why should Rafiq Zohran be given a pass just because he is Muslim?

Chill out church lady. It’s all good. The halal mandates won’t start until 2027.

Who gives a single fuck <Removed by moderator>? This is "Obama wore a tan suit" level of ridiculousness.

I'm pretty sure that if he went anywhere in the US and needed a fork to eat French fries he'd be seen as an idiot.

I heard Times Square is full of crazy people, homeless people, and hucksters now.
Wasn't when I was at college in NYC 25 years ago. Yes, you have those people preaching, but Times Square was pretty friendly back then. I'm assuming people selling bootlegged VHS tapes recorded in movie theaters doesn't counts as hucksters... also, I'm assuming they sell DVDs now.

French fries are very different than handfuls of briyani.

And I do not think anybody normal would eat a burger and fries during an interview when running for office either.

"Anybody normal"....

I don't know what biryani is. If it's a food item traditionally eaten with fingers, and it was gifted to him, I fully expect him to eat it with hands. Just as I would a politician to eat gifted French fries.

People are strange. My gran was extremely proper, she simply didn't eat finger food. She ate fried chicken with a knife and fork.
Oh well...

It's basically rice and meat such as chicken. It's not a finger food.

It is traditionally eaten with fingers in India, but we are not in India.
