NFL recognizes Jamee Johnson, former FAMU student killed during traffic stop

MSN said:
The NFL will be honoring Jamee Johnson, a former Florida A&M University student who was killed by a police officer during a traffic stop in Jacksonville, Florida in December 2019. The NFL On-Field Recognition Program is a part of several initiatives to help address systemic racism and help join the fight for social justice around the country.

Except the shooting of Jamee Johnson was completely justified, and not an instance of racism, systemic or otherwise.
Who is Jamee Johnson and why was he shot? He was stopped for a seat belt violation and the police officer smelled marijuana and saw marijuana flakes. JJ also admitted that he had an illegally stored gun. When the officer tried to get him to walk to his police car, JJ resisted and dove into the car, presumably to get his gun. Then he was shot, and eventually he died. Upon search of the car, dealing quantities of marijuana were discovered.
Here's the video:

Jamee Johnson case: Body camera video, report released in deadly Jacksonville officer-involved shooting

This shows that #BLMers only care about the race of people shot by police, and not about facts or whether a shooting was justified. As long as the dead (or injured) perp is black, it's autmatically "systemic racism" and other nonsense.
By the way, the cop here is black too. Does his life not matter? Was he not supposed to defend himself from an armed perp who is going for his gun?
Back to NFL's idiotic pandering:

Jamee’s first and last name will be printed on the back of Cleveland Brown’s running-back, D’Ernest Johnson’s helmet.
The NFL is expected to also honor other victims lost to police violence.

Yeah, let's honor somebody who tried to shoot a police officer.

But not all players are going along with this anti-police nonsense:

Maurkice Pouncey is second Steelers player to cover name of police shooting victim on helmet

CBS Sports said:
Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey is the second player on his his team to decide not to put Antwon Rose Jr.'s name on the back of his helmet for the season. Rose was shot and killed by police in 2018, after being stopped because a vehicle he was in fit the description of a car involved in a drive-by shooting. Rose was unarmed and was shot three times in the back, face and elbow.
[The first player who covered up Rose's name, Alejandro] Villanueva, a former Army Ranger who has served three tours in Afghanistan, instead decided to wear to honor Alwyn Cashe, a veteran who died during the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2005.

Antwon Rose participated in a drive-by shooting and police had no way of knowing that he left his gun in the car before he ran.

Court filing: Drive-by victim told police that Antwon Rose II shot him

Post Gazette said:
One of the victims of a drive-by shooting that occurred minutes before an East Pittsburgh police officer shot 17-year-old Antwon Rose II told police in January that it was Antwon who shot him, and it was Antwon who had a “beef” with him.

“The beef was between me and him, that car came by, he shot me, I ran to the store,” William Ross told a Pennsylvania State Police trooper Jan. 16, according to a police report. “I didn’t report it. Five minutes later, he was dead.”[...]Even though Ross, 20, told Trooper James Monkelis that Antwon was the shooter in the drive-by at Fa’s Market on Jones Avenue in North Braddock just before 8:30 p.m. June 19, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office has said the shots were actually fired by Zaijuan Hester, who is charged in the case.[...]But there is evidence that Antwon had gunshot residue on his hands, and that a stolen gun was found beneath the front passenger seat of the car. He also had an empty magazine in his pocket.

Whether or not Rose was the trigger man, he was definitely a participant in the drive by shooting. So whatever the outcome of the case against Rosfeld will be (and it sure looks like railroading!), Rose is a piece of shit attempted murderer who should not be honored by the Steelers or anybody else!

Stopped for a seat belt violation? Man, that officer got good eyes.

You’ve been stopped for a seat belt violation?

Well, they don't generally hire Stevie Wonder types to the police force.
You’ve been stopped for a seat belt violation?
Yes. Got a $15 fine too. I did not try to shoot the cop, so I'm still here.

But what is your opinion about NFL honoring somebody who tried to shoot a police officer and another somebody who participated in a drive by because he had a "beef" with the victim?

I wouldn't get too fired up about this. The NFL and other pro sports are committing suicide by slow poison with their Woke bullshit. The fans aren't digging it, and interest and ratings are way down across the board. People want to watch the games without being preached to/at. It will be interesting to see if the sports leagues eventually get a clue and go back to just playing sports, but I suspect by the time they catch on, it will be too late. As for me, I gave up on pro sports many decades ago, so if it all disappeared tomorrow, it would be good riddance as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, no possible issue with the legitimacy of that shooting.

Bro, did you even watch the fucking video?
Guy had it coming 100%.
Of course that black man had it coming.

He did not have a gun in his hands. Really, your defense of cowardice and brutality is duly noted.

On the otherhand, if this helps put the NFL out of business, I will not lose any sleep.

Stopped for a seat belt violation? Man, that officer got good eyes.

You’ve been stopped for a seat belt violation?

No, because I always wear mine.

It's not hard for a cop to check, though--get in front of where cars stop (say, a traffic light) and look at the cars that stop. No belt, pull them over. If it wasn't a real issue you wouldn't see t-shirts with fake seat belts printed on them.

A cop should never shoot someone because they “had it coming”. That’s not how our justice is supposed to work.

What else was the cop supposed to think? He knew there was a gun there, the guy was resisting and went for where the gun was. Completely justified in my book.

Or perhaps they’re putting social justice before profit at the behest of the players. Getting paid millions to do what you love while your brothers die in the street can gnaw are a person.

Fans will always be fans. They’ll be back. Think people who love going to games aren’t chomping at the bit to get back to their crowded stadiums?

You really think the owners are “clueless”? They don’t know what you’ve got all figured out? Please.

Of course it was completely justified in your book. So what? The fact is that the victim had no gun in his hand. "Presumption" should not be nine tenths of the law.

Bro, did you even watch the fucking video?
Guy had it coming 100%.

Other than the man said he had a gun illegally stored there is no mention of the gun being found in your presentation. Maybe you should point to other than presumptions for a basis for a clean shoot.

Have you ever been to Tallahassee, enjoyed the culture there, met any of the babes who posed nude in Subway there, met Sheriff Hammill who said the person sitting on the curb deserved having his foot run over by a redneck or have you ever enjoyed the early days of streaking in Tallahassee.

Of course not. Do you know that French town is a clay road section of Tallahassee moated off, reserved for blacks, in a gully between FSU and the State Capital? No, you don't.

But you know he had a gun because he said he had one stored illegally. Any you know he was diving into the car to get the gun so he could shoot the cop. And, my my, a black who lives on basically nothing might have marijuana in his car because he supplies students and government officials near where he lives. Oh the shame. Obviously a drugged reefer.

We can't suspect cops are just a bit likely to take advantage of these people because they are trapped in white lawed, white zoned red clay racist Tallahassee.

Obviously you haven't woke yet to the transparency of your racist screeds.

BTW I live in Oregon where we know about marijuana and booze and crack. We plead in prayer every night that our lost ones get on Mary jane 'cause the other stuff is down right deadly.

That little man was an entrepreneur keeping students safely happy.

As I've pointed out before handguns aren't instant stop in most cases--if the cop waits for the guy to actually pick up the gun there's a good chance the cop gets shot. There isn't really much question about what happened here. This is a guy who decided (perhaps in panic but that's irrelevant) that shooting it out with the cop was better than jail. As generally happens, he lost.

And if he lied to the cop that doesn't change anything.

While you may certainly conflate your illusions with reality, no one else is required to accept your views as gospel.

Your assumption that this victim decided to shoot it out is just that - an assumption.

I will repeat "Presumption should not be nine tenths of the laws".

Has there ever been a discussion of a police shooting/killing of an unarmed black male where it wasn’t completely justified in your books? Including the shooting of a child whose biggest crime seems to have been being tall for his age while black?

Am I the only person still stuck on someone getting stopped over a seat belt?

Am I the only person still stuck on someone getting stopped over a seat belt?

Why are you stuck on that ? Criminals are bye and large dumb and police routinely use minor traffic offenses as an excuse to pull over people acting suspiciously and that often leads to a far more serious crime taking place. I think in this instance the guy had a lot of weed, was probably distributing and had a dodgy gun in his possession.
