Police Misconduct Catch All Thread

I think the sentence should be 10 years, so we disagree, which is perfectly acceptable. Shit. I almost got on a jury where two young black guys got a 20 and 30 year sentence for being caught with a fairly small amount of cocaine.
One excessive sentence does not justify another.
But, sure a cop who kills someone should get off, but two young black guys who were selling a drug should spend decades in prison. Fuck that
Did you even read my post? Harkinson did not kill anyone. He did not even hit anyone.
I know the ten shots that he carelessly fired into her home weren't the ones who killed her, but his recklessness was totally unwarranted, so I think he is as guilty as if he had killed the woman. Plus, a few of his shots went into a neighboring apartment, which could have killed or injured those occupants. He was charged with violating Taylor's civil rights and imo, his totally unjustified carelessness deserved a harsh sentence. Maybe one day, if enough of these criminal cops get prison sentences, others in law enforcement will learn how to police without shooting people, or using other dangerous tactics to restrain people, other than in extreme cases where self defense is justified.

It seems that you always defend the police no matter how ruthless and illegal their behavior might be. I don't understand that. The police are supposed to "Serve and Protect" not kill people or shoot into their homes for no apparent reason. There are some excellent police but there are still too many who are unqualified to do the job. They act more as if the citizens are their enemies.

I would say it depends. If she put others in danger doing so then yes.

Eluding police. Resisting arrest. Grandma touched the officer's hat. There's gotta be a charge of some sort for that.

I'm sure it's okay for Murch to risk the lives of others for his goddamn dog as I suspect Murch also considers himself an excellent driver. Yeah.

I have no problem with the police stopping someone who is driving unsafely or speeding. Once the officer heard the story, I would think the proper course of action is to accompany the woman to the vet, and once the dog is being seen, then give any tickets,
