Police Misconduct Catch All Thread

Oh, that guy is just a thug.
So are most of the people worshiped by #BLM.
But that doesn't mean Chicago PD isn't a bunch of bastards. That department tolerated the "Midnight Crew" for decades. Basically, they are an armed gang.
Always blame the police for everything. Even for things that are several decades in the past.

Girlfriend Calls EMS After Black Partner Has A Diabetic Seizure And The Cops Almost Kill Him

A woman named Abby Florence is trying to spread the word about what happened to her boyfriend, Max Johnson, after she called emergency services last Sunday. Her story was posted on Facebook and shared on Twitter by @BacklineNurse. Abby writes that Max is a Type 1 diabetic, and she found him having a seizure on their couch just after she woke up. She called 911 and spoke with someone who gave her tips on how to make sure Max came through the seizure as safely as possible.

“I felt Max’s cold and clammy hands and immediately knew he was hypoglycemic (had dangerously low blood sugar) that caused his seizure,” she wrote.

A few minutes later Hennepin Healthcare EMS arrived to “help” the couple, but instead of help, they entered a nightmare that put Max in the hospital and on a ventilator. All of it could have been prevented, and Abby is sure it’s due to the racist decision of the health workers on the scene and the wave of police officers who followed. Abby is white and Max is Black.

So all we know about this incident is what his girlfriend is saying? Do we have any disinterested accounts?

Abby is white and Max is Black.
Black supremacist capitalization. :banghead:
Does not make me confident that the description of the events is in any way truthful.

It's all too common. Hypoglycemia can cause violent behavior. It wouldn't be the first time the police mistook a diabetic in trouble for someone attacking them.

Yeah, my brother's got Hypoglycemia. We call it, "Insta-Asshole Disorder."

The problem with this is not the side effects of hypoglycemia confusing cops but the fact that cops only have one way of dealing with a situation where they don't know what's going on: escalation.

The people with hypoglycemia might actually be attacking the cops. The problem is not recognizing they're doing it because of a medical issue rather than intent.

Except it does not take someone actually behaving in a way that could be construed as violent for police to escalate a situation to violence.

But as far as I understand, and maybe I missed something, it wasn't the cops who escalated to violence, indeed, the egregious thing here seems to be that the EMTs used ketamine. The other drug, I believe, was some benzodiazepine, which at least makes sense for someone going through a seizure, but why ketamine? Since when has ketamine become a drug that is routinely applied to people like this?

That's what I read. Then I started reading some comments here and had to go back and read the article again because I thought I clicked the wrong link.

LAPD Officers Charged With Falsifying Gang Records Could Disrupt Over 750 Criminal Cases

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office is reviewing hundreds of criminal cases after criminal charges were filed against three LAPD officers accused of falsifying records about gang affiliation.

Braxton Shaw, 37, Michael Coblentz, 43, and Nicolas Martinez, 36, were charged in July with one count each of conspiracy to obstruct justice and multiple counts of filing a false police report and preparing false documentary evidence.

The officers were assigned at the time to the LAPD’s Metropolitan Division when they allegedly falsified field interview cards and misidentified dozens of people who were stopped by the officers as gang members.

Prosecutors say that some of the false information written in the cards was used to wrongfully enter people into California’s gang database.

How planting evidence and falsifying reports isn't a felony. Sheesh.

so, if you can jack someone up on ketamine then it's ok to beat the hell out of them.

Defund these soulless fucking sadists.

And, here's another one that involved two black mothers and their toddlers......

https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/legal-issues/two-black-moms-took-their-kids-to-the-mall-secret-service-confronted-them-with-guns-they-said/2020/08/03/be4dfa8c-d4f1-11ea-9c3b-dfc394c03988_story.html

Their babies were in the back seat, Mother Goose Club was singing through the car speakers, and the mothers were digging around in diaper bags when they heard the crash and felt the jolt.
Johnson and Winston looked up. A Secret Service cruiser had driven into their front left bumper, Winston told The Washington Post. Within seconds, Winston recalled, a uniformed Secret Service officer was pointing a rifle at them, yelling “Get out!” and “Put your hands in the air!” More officers surrounded them with guns pulled, the women said.

Initially, the women said, an officer told them the vehicle had been reported stolen and that the suspects were two Black men. But the women, both African American, said no men were with them and provided proof that Johnson was the owner. She told the Secret Service she had never reported the car stolen. Eventually, the women were released — without an apology or answers to their questions, Winston said.

“These were two young African American mothers with their babies sitting lawfully in a car with D.C. tags,” Maloney wrote in his letter. “Can the Secret Service honestly say it would have treated white out-of-town tourists and their babies, sitting there without District tags, the same way?”

Let's hear the excuses for this behavior.

I'm not exactly pro jack booted thug but what choice did the cops have? They followed policy. The powers that be are looking at changing that policy to give the cops some discretion.

And tongue-in-cheek comment because I lack self-control: If they weren't being irresponsible Americans getting their nails done during a pandemic, none of this would have happened.

Are you suggesting that Aurora cops are so stupid and incompetent that they had no way of determining that they had the wrong vehicle without terrorizing a family? Personally, I do think they are stupid and incompetent, but probably this happened more because they are jack booted thugs who are getting more and more used to abusing black people every day and justifying it because they are so seldom held accountable.

This happens a lot when you have some humans having so much control and authority over other humans, humans who have been vilified and demonized thoroughly within cop culture. This is precisely what happened at Abu Ghraib. It's just a matter of degree of accountability, visibility, vilification of captives, etc. in the culture. As long as they are not held accountable and are allowed to keep getting away with crazy overblown abuses, and these abuses are implicitly or explicitly condoned by higher authority figures in the culture, the abuses will escalate. They won't just continue; they will escalate.
