Police response to N.J. mall fight sparks outrage after Black teen cuffed as white teen watches

Why not? You feel more than free to remind me that men are my superiors in terms of force/brute strength.

Exactly what is your purpose in reminding me that men are usually physically stronger than women?
Because I believe the female cop's reaction to Franco is partly explained by Franco being bigger and almost certainly stronger than her, a fact which you appear to find impossible to entertain.

I'm able to entertain the possibility that she was physically intimidated by a high school kid. But that's so implausible it's not possible for me too take the possibility seriously. She's got a badge and cuffs and a uniform and back-up, probably a weapon including a taser.

She didn't seem to flinch when he jumped up off the couch and stepped over to her. Scared of him? I don't think so.
Tom

WTF, I think I heard a spectator in the background of that video calling the black kid the "n word". Or did I mishear it? Around the 37 second mark. I'm surprised I'm the first to point that out. Maybe NJ is some racist hell hole like has been suggested. You never hear that shit around here.
You live in a small world if you think nigger is necessarily a bad thing.

Not to mention that the Franko Metaphor claims is bigger and stronger than the female officer bearly held his own against someone smaller than himself.

TomC is technically correct. We've (not TomC and I, but more specifically black people) been using it as a term of endearment for the longest time. It has always been about the intent behind it & not the word itself. It's intuition; similar to the science of babies being able to distinguish between good and bad people, except that only black babies (people) can make that call. :ROFLMAO:

Although I personally don't give a shit cause TomC is cool, I wouldn't recommend it on a public forum if you're not black because I'm not the only person (black or whatever) reading it.

George Carlin had a similar take. In one of his albums he said it is not the word that is the problem, but the racist asshole behind it, citing that no one is getting up set when Richard Prior or Eddie Murphy use it.

Personally I don't think anyone should be using it. The way I see it (using the term shithead in place of N) black people can use it as a term of endearment, "Hey my shitheads", "What's up shithead" it sound odd to people who know it is supposed to be an insult, meanwhile the racist asshole is over there saying "These shitheads are calling themselves shitheads. At least they know what they are". It seems a bit hypocritical in people wanting races to be treated equally, while at the same time saying this is ok for one race to do but not any other. People who are not racists get confused because it makes it seem that it is not a word they shouldn't use. And it leads to situations like at a concert where the singer Kendrick Lamar invited up a white woman from the audience to dance on the stage, singing along, until they get to the N word in his song then they stopped and looked at her for saying the word that was in his own song.

Which, exactly was the reason for my WTF.

I believe that we are all quite aware of the circumstances under which certain words are employed. And why.

I respect your thoughts and understand them but hell-naw. We've already let Europeans dictate what words we should or should not use. It's time yall back the fuck up and mind ya own god damn business. We're working with what yall gave us and yall gave us nigga (at least in the context in which it was used in America not the actual history of the words ancestors). We took the shit you gave us and turned it into something of our own which helped us cope and remove the power from the world. Clearly we've succeeded. BTW - We only actually get pissed off about it now on principle and to remind you muthafuckas of what went down. Ya dig? Now fuck off.

Respectfully,

"What's up shithead" it sound odd to people who know it is supposed to be an insult, meanwhile the racist asshole is over there saying "These shitheads are calling themselves shitheads. At least they know what they are".
No, the racist is over there whining, "But when _I_ say it, they get mad at me!"
Um, yeah. This is not unique.

If someone wearing submarine dolphins calls me a bubblehead, that's cool.
If someone from the surface Navy calls me by the same word, it's offensive.

Same for if anyone in a Navy uniform called me a motherfucker. That's different from someone in Army colors using the term.

If a coworker on my team calls me a bitch, i laugh. If my supervisor calls me a bitch, i laugh with her. if anyone calls HER a bitch, it's an issue.

There are LOTS and LOTS of words that depend entirely on context for interpretation. Racists justlike to pretend they have equal rights to use racist slurs if there is, anywhere, a context where the word is not taken as offensive.

People who are not racists get confused because it makes it seem that it is not a word they shouldn't use.
It's not that confusing. If you're not sure about what context allows the word, err on the side of caution.

Now, 'smurf?' That's confusing. If a SMURF says "That's smurfy," it's a compliment. If a human says, "That's smurfy," in the same way, about the same thing, the Smurf gets upset and says, "Whoa, hey, dial it back a thousand, dude. No need to cross the line, here!" But that's the entire joke. There are no contextual clues for the use of Smurf, it's there exactly to be confusing.

Don't you hate having to explain to gray haired wypepo that this isn't the 70s any more?
Tom

Don't be so quick to haughtily denigrate that "surface."

...that's where all the targets are!
I rather specifically did not denigrate anything surface in the above statement. My wife was Surface. My son was Surface.
Just...if they said 'bubblehead' i said 'target.'

In this case, it was a strong woman who came to the aid of her fellow officer, not the other way around. I'm not sure why you failed to notice or feel compelled to point out that men can sometimes carry people out of burning buildings when sometimes women are not able to do so. I'm sorry that you are upset that female firefighters exist in Australia and elsewhere in the world.
You are, as usual, wrong. I am not upset about the existence of female firefighters. I am upset that standards have been lowered and men with more aptitude have been passed over in favour of women with less aptitude.

What? Franco is clearly bigger than the female officer. That's why I could barely believe Toni claiming the female officer was bigger.

It was very clearly the case that Husain was a better fighter than Franco, as I explained earlier.

Yet the woman was the one here who showed the aptitude of at least demonstrating that she was physically capable of showing respect. Talk about "men with less aptitude"...

But I did not claim she was 'scared' of him. I said her reaction was influenced by Franco being bigger and taller than her.

I don't know how many years ago high school was for you, but if you believe teenage males could not be physically intimidating to adult women I don't know what to tell you. Corporal punishment dished out by my mother was a reality in my household, but not after the age of 11, because my mother would have had no chance of physically dominating me.

Of course she didn't flinch when he get up from the couch. He was being entirely co-operative. Hell, he later said he thought he should have been arrested.

I don't know what that sentence means. Try harder.
It's English is such that a seventh grader of average English aptitude would be able to parse it.

This new orthodoxy that the word 'nigger' was forbidden to white people in all contexts and they knew it has not been around 'since forever', as the social media necromancers who wanted to cancel Joe Rogan would have you believe. Tim Wise (think a 1990s version of Robin di Angelo--only male but every bit as white and insufferable) used the word 'nigger' (to condemn it), and he didn't write 'n-word'.
