Polls of the Presidential Race

The race between the hare and the turtle comes to mind.

The race ain't over until the winner crosses the finish line. There are a lot of people out there in voter land who actually resent being asked who they'll vote for on 3rd November. That silent majority will decide if Groper Joe is handed the keys to the WH.

You know that works for both Biden and Trump supporters and probably cancels each other out.

I dislike participating in phone surveys in general, political or consumer, because i never know for sure who is asking, how my opinion will be used, or how honestly.
But resenting being asked?
Asking is a fucking industry. How fucking knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing stupid would you have to be in order to base your vote on blaming one candidate for the fact that people ASK?

There's no way a MAJORITY will go to the polls and say, 'i vote (for/against) Trump because i got called X times by surveys.'

Seriously, do you read the stuff you post, angelo?

With the surveys demonstrating Trump is going to lose big, Trumpistas will grasp every slender straw they can to assure themselves, despite all, Trump will win. Angelo's hopeless little straw he is grasping here simply is a figment of his imagination. As no miracle will save us from the covid-19 disaster, and the economy is about to get worse as millions lost jobs and cannot pay rent, the misery index will see Trump get defeated and there is no way to save him. Kiss his orange ass goodbye, Angelo.

The latest Quinnipiac survey shows Biden ahead 15% NBC/WSJ survey, 11% ahead of Trump. Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Florida are gone. These states gave Trump a very slim win in the EC, but now they are Biden's. Texas, Iowa and Ohio are now essentially tied. Just one of these to flip ends Trump's chances.

For when Biden smokes Trump in November, I have a bottle of champagne in the fridge to celebrate.

Of course it does! It's the reason many ignore the results of endless polling. The only poll that counts is the one held on the 3rd of November. There's been so many polls that wrongly picked the winner that they're almost irrelevant today.

The presidency is not decided by a popular vote but by a college vote! What part of that statement don't you understand?

‘Is Pence running for election or Trump?’: Pro-Trump ad only shows president for two seconds | The Independent
About a Trump campaign ad that prominently features Vice President Mike Pence but shows Trump for only a few seconds.
The new ad titled, America Back To Work, was published by non-profit organisation, America First Policies, on Wednesday and features vice president Mike Pence discussing the Trump administration’s job policies.

A speech Mr Pence gave at an event for the organisation’s Great American Comeback Tour is played over images of him meeting workers and detailing policies put in place by the administration.

Mr Trump is only shown in the ad once and is featured for two seconds - signing an updated free trade agreement with Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The US president is also briefly mentioned by Mr Pence, who says: “We’ve all passed through very challenging times over the last several months. It’s because of what you’ve done, because of the leadership of the president provided – we are going back to work. We’re going back to worship.”

He adds: “And I promise you in the days ahead we’re going to continue to create a solid foundation for whatever challenges may lie ahead. And we’re going to do it in a way that puts America back to work. A great American comeback has begun.”
jonkarl on Twitter: "Is Pence running for President or is Donald Trump?
You would think it's Pence watching the new ad by a well-funded pro-Trump outside group (co-founded by Brad Parscale). Lots of Pence here ... and just a few blurry seconds of Trump. https://t.co/aHhcTgZJo4" / Twitter

Opinion | Trump can’t land a blow on Biden, and it’s driving him crazy - The Washington Post
The problem, from Trump’s perspective, is that Biden isn’t an African American like Barack Obama, a woman like Hillary Clinton or a socialist like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). He’s a boring, moderate white guy who has been around forever without ever being demonized in the way that Clinton was for decades. Even his base voters will have trouble seeing Uncle Joe as someone who is plotting to promote a “far-left fascism” and to “end America” — the accusations that Trump hurled at the left on July 3. As Biden himself would say in his charming throwback way: “C’mon man!”
He has had little success in making JB seem like "Sleepy Joe". Unlike his success with "Lying Ted", "Little Marco", "Low-Energy Jeb", and "Crooked Hillary".

Trump even accused Biden — a supporter of the Iraq War and the author of a tough crime bill who is roundly reviled by leftists for being a corporate sellout — of now being part of the “radical left” because, since winning enough delegates for the nomination, he has tried to heal the rift with the Sanders wing of the party.
Opinion | Trump is playing defense — and doing a rotten job of it - The Washington Post
First, the administration announced a rare retreat on the issuance of its mind-boggling, self-destructive order to kick out foreign college students whose schooling goes online. Whether this was a cudgel to punish universities and colleges (a favorite target of the right) or simply another mean attack against immigrants care of White House adviser Stephen Miller, the notion that we should kick out the best and brightest students from around the world — who could stay and be productive here after graduation — was nonsensical even for this administration. (Ideally, we would slap a green card on every foreign student’s diploma.) It also provoked a tsunami of legal actions from higher education institutions and states.

...
The day was topped off by a Trump news conference that consisted of a 45-minute rambling, incoherent rant. Among other bizarre claims, he said that Democrats did not care whether people blew up their cities and that Joe Biden’s career was “a gift to the Communist Party.” He seemed to suggest that Biden’s green-energy plan meant we couldn’t have windows, that Biden would do away with the suburbs, that absentee voting and voting by mail are totally different (they aren’t) and that he was about to sign a (nonexistent) immigration act. Flitting from topic to topic, he seemed unable to focus on any one issue for more than a few seconds. His run-on sentences and stray phrases (especially when accusing Biden and former president Barack Obama of doing unspecified bad things) made it impossible at times to make out what he was trying to say

I don't know. He's got an Aussie sold on it.

Good. Let him focus on persuading the most abysmally ignorant Aussies. I hope he enjoys tremendous support from that quarter.

A longish but very worthwhile read from the President [1964] who defeated the Soviet Union and won a bloodless victory against tyranny and suppression of human freedom and democracy. It is indeed a time of choosing!

from the speech........." Not too long ago, two friends of mine were talking to a Cuban refugee, a businessman who had escaped from Castro, and in the midst of his story one of my friends turned to the other and said, "We don't know how lucky we are." And the Cuban stopped and said, "How lucky you are? I had someplace to escape to." And in that sentence he told us the entire story. If we lose freedom here, there's no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth. "

Those are not percentages of "all Americans" or even party registrations. If those were actual representations of party registrations, the Republinazis would be in terrible trouble. But no, it's just a phone poll who people 'identify' with, which can turn on a dime (as they have done since May).

Currently, half of U.S. adults identify as Democrats (32%) or are independents who lean toward the Democratic Party (18%). Meanwhile, 39% identify as Republicans (26%) or are Republican leaners (13%).
...
based on monthly averages of Gallup U.S. telephone surveys in 2020.

The percentage numbers are pretty meaningless but the trendline should be a wakeup call to the toadies clinging to Trump's grimy coattails.

SCROTUS’s campaign manager bites the dust:

I’m surprised it took so long after the Tulsa debacle.

He was such a nice guy. I'm gonna miss him.

He’ll land on his feet, rejoining whatever militia he was active in on weekends.

I hadn't noticed that Jethro had been replaced by Bill Stepien, who's chief claim to fame is being fired for his involvement in Chris Christie's "Bridgegate" scandal.
