Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the health and human services secretary, outlined a strategy for containing the measles outbreak in West Texas that strayed far from mainstream science, relying heavily on fringe theories about prevention and treatments.

Quack

He suggested that measles vaccine injuries were more common than known, contrary to extensive research.

Quack

He asserted that natural immunity to measles, gained through infection, somehow also protected against cancer and heart disease, a claim not supported by research.

QUACK QUACK!!

He cheered on questionable treatments like cod liver oil, and said that local doctors had achieved “almost miraculous and instantaneous” recoveries with steroids or antibiotics.

Dangerous DUCK!

He said he’d been told that a dozen Mennonite children had been injured by vaccines in Gaines County. People in the community wanted federal health workers arriving in Texas “to also look at our vaccine-injured kids and look them in the eye,” Mr. Kennedy said.

I call Bullshit on this Quack. MMR has been used for decades and has been shown to be very safe.

Mr. Kennedy asserted otherwise: “We don’t know what the risk profile is for these products. (MMR) We need to restore government trust. And we’re going to do that by telling the truth, and by doing rigorous science to understand both safety and efficacy issues.”

He's fucking crazy! He's a fucking QUACK

“It’s very, very difficult for measles to kill a healthy person,” he said, adding later that “we see a correlation between people who get hurt by measles and people who don’t have good nutrition or who don’t have a good exercise regimen.”

QUACKERY QUACK QUACK QUACKERY!

Kennedy spoke enthusiastically about unproven treatments for measles, and said the H.H.S. would study them.

Mr. Kennedy said the Department of Health and Human Services would conduct clinical trials on several unproven treatments for measles, including a steroid, budesonide; an antibiotic called clarithromycin; and cod liver oil, which he said was “the safest application of vitamin A.”

Mr. Kennedy said he had heard from two local doctors that these treatments had led to “miraculous and instantaneous recovery.”

QUACK QUACK QUACK

Dr. Schaffner said that antibiotics, which fight bacterial infections, are not effective treatments for measles, a virus. And he was unaware of any evidence that showed that steroids improved outcomes for children with measles.

The QUACK should know that antibiotics don't fight viruses but he's a fucking QUACK!!

Mr. Kennedy’s focus on unverified treatments has frustrated some doctors in Gaines County, who have been trying to explain to patients that there is no antiviral for measles and that they have little control over which patients suffer serious symptoms.

“We already are dealing with people that think measles is not a big deal,” said Dr. Leila Myrick, a family medicine doctor in Seminole, Texas, who has been caring for patients with measles for several weeks.

“Now they’re going to think they can get this miracle treatment and that they definitely don’t need to get vaccinated. It’s a 100 percent going to make it harder.”

The QUACK is dangerous! Kennedy is going to get people killed.

Can you name anyone in Trump's administration who appears qualified for the position he/she holds?
He will kill people, and so will taking a machete to Medicare/Medicaid. Rural hospitals, maternity care centers (which are already few in number in states where providing abortion is a felony) will struggle to survive. Gotta keep our billionaires happy. All that remains to be seen is the moment when a significant % of working class MAGAts realize that they have been rolled, conned, blackjacked, and left in a ditch with all their sick and elderly relatives.

There needs to be a 13th season of Curb, I think. The story arc: Larry gets strep throat and realizes he sounds exactly like Kennedy Jr. Using Jeff's media connections, he does remote podcast interviews and creates YouTube shorts, putting out even more insane messages than the real RFK. He announces a new virus spread by Jewish space lasers. He says that panda estrogen can cure hepatitis A through E. He claims that eating flesh from whale heads can make you immune to the flu. The real Bobby can't even convince Fox News that it isn't him, because the difference in insanity level isn't that great. Since Larry's ex-wife is now married to Bobby, he gaslights her with berserk phone messages as Bobby and convinces her that he's having a mad affair with Melania. Cheryl decides to seduce Trump, which she does in a private session after a cabinet meeting. The season finale happens during a Presidential visit to Dayton, Ohio, to spotlight the Haitian crisis, but that gets overshadowed by Larry vs. Bobby, Melania vs. Cheryl, Cheryl vs. Bobby, and Trump vs. everybody.

The “he’d been told” bit sounds a lot like “they’re eating the cats and the dogs”…

Waitaminit.
Didn’t all that just happen?
Or am I thinking about something else?

How would you reduce autism and obesity? How would you increase average lifespans for the average American? How would you reduce medical costs but deliver better health? These are serious issues the medical establishment is failing by any standard.

Is RFK reaaly a quack or are we being duped again by more propaganda? I dont know but maybe we should let the quacks give it a try for 4 years to see if anything gets better. Trying something different is actually a scientific approach to discovery. Because our healthcare can't get any worse than it already is today.

Says you, based on nothing. Schools and medical pros are getting a lot better at identifying and managing autistic behaviors.

RFK is a quack. He certainly isn't a doctor.
I dont know but maybe we should let the quacks give it a try for 4 years to see if anything gets better.
The quacks had their shot before the 20th century. Things got better when trained people were in charge of these policies.
Trying something different is actually a scientific approach to discovery. Because our healthcare can't get any worse.
No, that is nonsense.

How would you reduce autism Quack
I wouldn't. I would accept autism within my society and support the people who have "difficult" autism with social measures, while celebrating those who take interest in and decide to accomplish something through their existence. Vaccines don't cause autism and you don't have a right to a child that does or doesn't have it, necessarily.

and obesity?
Restoring the FDA and putting in a charter for conduct and mission with oversight to the end of eliminating foods known to cause health issues such as saturated fats and high fructose corn syrups.

Exactly what they are doing the inverse of.

How would you increase average lifespans for the average American? How would you reduce medical costs but deliver better health?
I think the way I would do it 'the right way' may actually literally be most of the plot to Pantheon.

In the mean time, scrapping the IP laws that keep patent trolls and pharma-bros making profits hand-over fist through anti-competitive practices, ensuring we return to sanity with public education requiring vaccination or proof of medical exemption for participation.

This will prevent disease in the mean time.

Single payer healthcare would go a long way, too, since the average American lives in fear of medical debt and defers care in this fear.

These are serious issues the ...
...[for profit]...
medical establishment is failing by any standard.

Is RFK reaaly a quack
Yes.

or are we being duped again by more propaganda?
Someone here is...

I dont know
So maybe listen to the bulk of most people who are mostly right and rely on science rather than everyone else who is fighting over who can quack the loudest.

but maybe we should let the quacks give it a try for 4 years to see if anything gets better.
Fuck that noise.

Trying something different is actually a scientific approach to discovery.
Truing exactly what we proved didn't work and abandoning the things that did is what caused us to discover this shittier state of public health.

Because our healthcare can't get any worse than it already is today.
Oh it absolutely can and will thanks to you and your quacks.

It has been, since recently the quacks started quacking together to defeat the one thing not quacking but actually working.

During a few of the years that I administered vaccines while working as a home health nurse, not a single patient had a side effect from any of the vaccines, other than a mildly sore arm for a few days. Back in the 80s, parents couldn't wait to get their kids vaccinated.

I did have one patient when I worked in home health who had encephalitis as a complication of having the measles. He was totally dependent and his elderly mother had to care for him, like he was an infant. A 6 ft tall grown up infant that is. That is what we will see more of if people continue with this insane anti vaccine shit. And, sadly I think some of was started by liberals in California before it became a conservative thing.

RFKjr. is a raging idiot with no experience in health care. He makes up shit. He's as deranged, or almost as deranged as Trump and Musk.

The only person I've known personally who had severe autism had a mother who used a lot of hard drugs, like meth and cocaine when she was pregnant. Perhaps that has something to do with the rise of autism. The kid ended up in some type of home for autistic children. There is no evidence that vaccines cause autism.

There is no connection between vaccines and autism. Autism is often diagnosed around the same time children receive routine vaccinations, which has led to concerns about a connection—but decades of scientific research have confirmed that vaccines do not cause autism. In fact, vaccines play a crucial role in protecting children from serious diseases like measles. Explore the research on vaccines and autism.

According to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, certain environmental influences may increase autism risk:

  • Advanced parental age
  • Prenatal exposure to air pollution or certain pesticides
  • Maternal obesity, diabetes or immune system disorders
  • Extreme prematurity or very low birth weight
  • Birth complications leading to periods of oxygen deprivation to the baby’s brain

There is a lot more information in the link regarding why autism is on the rise and what some of the factors are that may cause it.

Yeah? I got a shingles vaccination yesterday and my arm feels like it might fall off. 😕

I dont know
Then you would be wise to shut up, and listen to those who do.

How do you know who does?

You learn some basic facts about reality. Some "science". If you didn't do that, you are useless to yourself, and to everyone else.

But the good news is, it's never too late to start.

Go learn some facts about reality; Then you will be able to comment without appearing utterly moronic, gullible, and foolish.

I dont know but maybe we should let the quacks give it a try for 4 years to see if anything gets better.
Those of us with a basic education are aware that we DID let the quacks give it a try for about a thousand years, and things totally failed to get better. It's called "The medieval period", and to give you a hint about just how effective it was, all you need do is consider whether describing a hospital as being "medieval" is a compliment or not.

Because our healthcare can't get any worse than it already is today.
it is hyperbole like this that makes useful discussion virtually impossible. How would one even begin to reply this substantively?
I mean, we could discuss the days of leeches and not washing hands, before vaccinations, before the germ theory of disease.

We're headed that direction.

Even one of my uncles has bragged about never washing his hands. The kicker is he's married to a nurse, who doesn't believe in anything weird like that, and it amazes me they're still married. I'd think a nurse of all people would have better standards than that. Some people will put up with anything I suppose.
