The people who leaked and published her photos were wrong and should be prosecuted if possible. But that doesn't take away her rule violation.

The article pointed out that both Anthony Weiner and Joe Barton resigned after nude pictures of them or certain parts of them were revealed. But both "gentlemen" had sent those pictures to others, so it's not like what happened to Katie Hill.

AOC spent several minutes sitting and speaking with Hill after speaking to Politico on Thursday, before Hill delivered her bitter, defiant resignation speech on the House floor.

Last year, AOC slammed right-wing media sites for publishing a fake nude photo of her on Reddit forums and elsewhere. The photo purported to show AOC’s legs and feet soaking in a bathtub.

Milano then pointed to "indicted criminals" such as Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., who was charged with violating campaign finance laws and was accused of using campaign money to fund his extramarital affairs, while "we accepted the resignation of a really, really good congresswoman, a really bright woman, for what she does in her private time that was consensual."

Milano told CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, "I don't feel it was fair, and I really appreciate Katie Hill and where she was coming from in resigning, but I do wish she fought a little harder. I would've fought by her side."

Salacious allegations published on a right-wing website. A popular Democratic politician admitting an “inappropriate relationship” with a young female staffer. Conservative lawmakers and pundits suddenly deeply concerned about the interaction of sex and power. The exposure of intimate details of two people’s lives to public view, all in the name of ethics in politics.

It’s been more than 20 years since the relationship between Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky hit the headlines, but there are clear parallels between that scandal and the current controversy over Rep. Katie Hill.

Rand Paul had invoked the affair to demonstrate that it was Democrats, not Republicans, who were guilty of a “war on women” because Bill Clinton “had committed workplace ‘violence’ and acted in a ‘predatory’ manner against ‘a 20-year-old girl who was there from college.’ ” Lewinsky cites this as an example of how she continues to be invoked as “a social representation, a social canvas on which anybody could project their confusion about women, sex, infidelity, politics,” as opposed to a person in her own right. This is a fate that no one deserves, and yet it is one that conservatives appear all too eager to inflict upon another woman in order to score political points.

Pretty sure Gaetz (R - Most Punchable Face) has some dirt in his closet in order to be coming out like this.

Let's hope it actually does get leaked so we can compare the party and public responses.
 
So, I'm not really seeing the double-standard. Male politicians get in trouble and resign for affairs a lot, I can remember a few off the top of my head. And certainly, if these affairs were with younger staffers, that would be very controversial and would likely result in resignations.

This to me seems to be the major issue, the naked pictures of her being not really relevant. But I haven't followed this closely.
 
This scandal had me ready to vote for her even though she's a major party incumbent. But after she resigned I read a few interesting things about this scandal.

She had an affair with a staffer. So?
It is against House rules. So?
These House rules were passed in the wake of Me Too in order to specifically restrict relationships with those working for the House members. Oh really?
She is the first one to be investigated under the new rules. Now that is interesting.

I remember under Bush Sr and Clinton, as a result of the Clarence Thomas hearings new, stricter rules on sexual harassment passed making it easier to sue the boss. Those more lax rules were used by Paula Jones to sue Bill Clinton. Once again the Democrats bite themselves in the ass.

Since Hill's resignation, Assemblywoman Christy Smith (D-Santa Clarita) has been lining up endorsements from elected officials and organized labor. Smith is poised to win the party's nod at a California Democratic Party convention this weekend, and Hill seemingly endorsed Smith to be her successor on Wednesday.

“Boys, please be gentlemen and step aside. She's got this,” Hill tweeted.

Cenk has got some serious baggage from his past, and there are many hundreds of hours of video of him on the Young Turks, no doubt some of which has him putting foot firmly in mouth. He'll probably lose, and then he'll have to spend the rest of his life dealing with a much more soiled reputation.
