"Reverse Mentors" for Male, Pale, and Stale professors

From the cited article:
“What is understood about unconscious bias is that we have all got it, but the more you learn about it and become conscious of it, the more you can act,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

“While it is well known and obvious that women and minority groups suffer setbacks to their career progression no one really understands why.

“It’s not as if there is any overt prejudice – it is something to do with the way the system is or the way it has evolved and we needed to find out why.”
.

So this is not making anyone feel ashamed of being a white male. It is about making white male senior professors aware of any unconscious biases. Whether this is the best method for doing so is debatable, but I find it odd that anyone would take issue with the goal or misinterpret the goals.

Also from the article:
It has previously been claimed that Oxford porters should be given “unconscious bias” training, amid claims that they assume black students are trespassing when they enter College grounds.

Instead of throwing money at a problem by hiring people to help them be non-biased, why not fire them and just hire non-biased people in the first place?

You suggest firing all male professors and replacing them with who exactly?

Everyone isn't biased to the same degree such that every person would assume a black student is tresspassing.

Some find it odd that others take issue with the need to accept you're born a sinner and require Jesus to redeem you of original sin. Denying Jesus doesn't make the unconscious sin go away.

Eh, I can think of a lot of white people/men who could use some serious help as far as basic interactions go...

That's probably true of a lot of people/women regardless of skin color. But you really ought to check your unconscious bias.

I googled Norm Macdonald. He is a comedian, former SNL guy and has a history of making opposite of what he really thinks claims.

Isn't it a liberal bragging point and a conservative irritation point that colleges lean overwhelmingly in a liberal direction, most professors being liberal, progressive, or far left?

So we can therefore conclude that progressives need to be mentored to not be racist and sexist?

Liberal bias is an assumption that conservatives like to make. Frankly, I haven’t seen it in all the years and on all the campuses that I have been associated with. Sure, more liberal than say, my Southern Baptist cousins who decry liberalism but are mighty dependent on various welfare benefits. Frankly, I know university professors who are also libertarian. And ironically, happy to accept the raises and benefits their union negotiates for them. While decrying publicly funding education.

I think we can conclude liberals are more willing to perceive unconscious bias as a problem and more likely to try an unconventional approach to overcoming it.

It might not work. Or the results might be temporary. But at least they're willing to try to improve their social skills and become better mentors themselves.

This is a "problem" mainly in STEM where people are no that crazy about these issues, they understand that women are simply not interested in STEM.

I think I'd be quite pleased that the university saw fit to assign me a hot young exotic babe to be my constant companion on campus. A big plus on the senior perquisites. ;)

Why should male, white professors be singled out? What is the evidence that they have an unconscious bias, and that say, their mentors do not?

You're trying to rationalize this cultural Marxism silliness? Who, whom?

Why should male, white professors be singled out?

Because Western society puts white male professionals first in line for benefits like having personal mentors to help them achieve even greater success?

What is the evidence that they have an unconscious bias, and that say, their mentors do not?
