Right Wing Terrorism

.....
Two men from Puyallup, Washington (it's pronounced "pew-AL-up," you're welcome), were arrested Saturday night for alleged attacks on four electrical substations in Washington's Pierce County, knocking out electricity to more than 17,000 people on Christmas and causing more than $3 million in damage.
.....

The idiots in question took their cell phones along their vandalization trips making it trivial to track them down.

These clowns destroyed the power stations to set up a burglery of a local business, not a white supremist type operation. As far as I know. They also got busted for having unregistered illegal weapons. Short barreled rifles and sawed off shot guns.

People import their culture and practices.
That’s what makes America great.
you want to live in Pakistan?
No. I like living in a diverse country. You know, with Pakis, Mexicans, Norwedish, Africans, Thai, and even some Italians.
Right. Those are Western/European values. Which will go away if the people you import don't share them. See Native Americans. Also, diversity causes lower social trust. Diversity is not strength, despite what Dan Quayle might have said.
The things that happened to the Native Americans happened because their culture was systematically wiped out, with positive effort, in an act of genocide.

Introduction of new ideas only eliminate the old ideas when the old ideas are either when the ideas themselves were shit, or the purveyors of new ideas engage in a campaign of genocide.

Ideas become shared when they have visible utility and die out when they lack any utility or benefit in comparison to the current ideas.

As it is, I wouldn't mind seeing my cultural views challenged more often.

Diversity of information and outlook is mathematically proven to be the only available solution to "problems of perspective", problems where a non-diverse pool of problem solvers find themselves unable to navigate towards better solutions merely because they literally lack the perspective to see the better answer. To learn more, you should research "solutions to escaping local minima on an error surface".

The overwhelming solution to the local minima vs global minima problem is to find a different perspective further from the problem solver.

This is how evolution in general works, too. The population ends up collecting all sorts of oddities in the hopes that an oddity is just what the population needs to overcome an unforeseen problem, or better yet so that individuals foresee a diverse set of problems and work towards their solutions.

The most common aspect of this need for diversity is seen in the efficiency of specialization and division of labor.

Albuquerque detectives are investigating multiple incidents where the homes or offices of local elected leaders have been targeted by gunfire in the past month. All five politicians are Democrats.

In a press conference Thursday, Albuquerque Police Department chief Harold Medina said that the department is "working with federal partners" on an investigation into the incidents, which he said is a "top priority."

"We are worried and concerned that these are connected and possibly politically motivated or personally motivated, but we don't know that for a fact," said Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller.
All those targeted seem to be Democrats.

 2022 Brazilian general election
 2022–2023 Brazilian election protests
Third inauguration of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva
2023 invasion of the Brazilian Congress

On 2 October 2022, Brazil had its general election. Lula got 48.43%, Jair Bolsonaro 43.20%, and the other 9 candidates 8.37%.

It was followed by a runoff election on 30 October 2022. Lula got 50.90%, JB 49.10%.

Just like Donald Trump and his followers, JB's followers were sore losers.
Supporters of Jair Bolsonaro, who are frequently referred to in media accounts as Bolsonaristas, alleging election fraud, began blocking roads and highways in the country.[7][8] At least 23 Brazilian states, plus the Federal District, recorded roadblocks as of 1 November, adding up to at least 267 roadblocks according to data from Federal Highway Police (PRF).[9

On 1 January 2023, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was inaugurated as Brazil's 39th President. "At the age of 77, Lula became the oldest president-elect to assume office and the only president in Brazilian history to serve two non-consecutive terms in office through the democratic vote."

Not long after, rumors began to circulate of planned attacks, but "Members of the federal cabinet were aware of the plans of the rioters, but were assured by Governor of the Federal District Ibaneis Rocha that the situation was under control."

"Protesters had been gathering in front of Army facilities in several Brazilian cities ever since Bolsonaro lost the presidential election to Lula in October."

In the morning of 7 January, more than 100 buses arrived in Brasília from all parts of Brazil, bringing in Bolsonaro supporters. They joined the 200 protesters camped in front of the Army Headquarters, raising the total number of people there to over 4,000.[46] On the afternoon of 8 January, the demonstrators marched from the Army Headquarters,[47][48] broke through the police barriers near the legislature building at 14:42 BRT (UTC−03:00)[49] and, armed with sticks, confronted the police, who fired tear gas and used pepper spray on them.[47] Despite this, some members of the military police were caught being lenient with the attackers.[50] The demonstrators then attempted to enter the Palácio do Planalto, the seat of executive power, and the Supreme Federal Court.[47]

Senator Veneziano do Rêgo confirmed to CNN Brazil that protesters had managed to invade the Congress building. According to him, they reached the upper floor, where the domes of the Federal Senate and the Chamber of Deputies are located, and the Green Hall of the Chamber of Deputies.[51] Protesters attempted to extend a green and yellow banner over the building.[51] Some protestors among the mob were also seen with the flag of the Empire of Brazil.[52] Protesters later climbed the ramp of the Congress building and reached the Supreme Federal Court building and the Palácio do Planalto, where in their attempt to enter the buildings they committed acts of vandalism and attacked police. After several confrontations, the protesters managed to enter both buildings, where more vandalism and fighting ensued.[53] Soldiers from the Brazilian Army responded. Two helicopters tried to disperse the crowd.[54] A security forces vehicle reportedly fell into the reflecting pool of the monument during the confrontations.[55]
So they broke into the buildings of all three branches of government.

A day later, Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro admitted to US hospital | Elections News | Al Jazeera
Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro has been admitted to a hospital in the US state of Florida after suffering from “abdominal pain”, his wife has confirmed.

“My dear ones, I come to inform you that my husband Jair Bolsonaro is under observation at the hospital due to abdominal discomfort resulting from the aftermath of the stab wound he received in 2018 from a former member of the PSOL,” Michelle Bolsonaro wrote on Instagram on Monday, referencing the acronym for Brazil’s Socialism and Liberty Party.

“We are praying for his health and for Brazil. God bless us,” she added.

The news comes as security forces in Brazil detained an estimated 1,500 Bolsonaro supporters after dismantling a protest camp in the country’s capital, Brasilia, following a weekend attack on government buildings there.

Brazil leaders condemn ‘terrorist acts’, vow to defend democracy | Politics News | Al Jazeera - "About 1,500 people detained as police dismantle pro-Bolsonaro camp after storming of gov’t buildings in the capital."
In a statement on Monday, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva joined the heads of the Supreme Court and the two houses of Congress to reject the acts of political violence that shook the capital, Brasilia, a day earlier.

The leaders called for calm “in defence of peace and democracy” and said they “reject the terrorist acts and criminal, coup-mongering vandalism that occurred” in the statement shared on social media.
and
Bolsonaro, who never formally conceded defeat but authorised the presidential transition, had falsely claimed for months ahead of the election that Brazil’s electronic voting system was vulnerable to fraud – fuelling concerns he planned to contest the results.

Many of his supporters continue to believe the vote was stolen, and some erected roadblocks in the days after Bolsonaro’s loss. Others had also camped outside the military headquarters in Brasilia, demanding the army intervene.

On Monday, hundreds of soldiers and police mobilised to dismantle the improvised camp, where approximately 3,000 Bolsonaro supporters had set up tents. Around 1,500 people were arrested at the protest site, officials said.
So JB is just like Donald Trump, a COVID downplayer and a sore loser.

Brazil congress attack: what we know so far | Brazil | The Guardian
Thousands of supporters of Brazil’s far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro invaded the country’s congress, presidential palace and supreme court on Sunday, in a grim echo of the US Capitol invasion two years ago by backers of former president Donald Trump.
And apparently inspired by that attack.
About 6.30pm local time, three hours after initial reports of the invasion, security forces managed to retake the three buildings, Brazilian media reported. TV images showed dozens of rioters being led away in handcuffs. Police said 300 people had been arrested over the attacks.
With 1,200 more later.

Jair Bolsonaro:
“Peaceful demonstrations, within the law, form part of democracy,” he wrote on Twitter. “However, depredations and invasions of public buildings like those that happened today, as well as those practiced by the left in 2013 and 2017, are exceptions to the rule.” He stopped short of condemning the mob outright and instead hit out at Lula’s claims he was responsible.
For his part, Lula blamed JB and said
“These vandals, who we could call … fanatical fascists, did what has never been done in the history of this country,” said Lula, who was on an official trip to São Paulo state. “All these people who did this will be found and they will be punished.” The president later toured the wreckage of his presidential palace.

Supreme court justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered Ibaneis Rocha, the pro-Bolsonaro governor of the federal district, where Brasília is located, to be removed from his post for 90 days amid outrage that authorities had failed to prevent the attack. De Moraes wrote that the attacks “could only have happened with the acquiescence, or even direct involvement, of public security and intelligence authorities”.
At least Brazil has a sensible Supreme Court.
The supreme court, whose crusading justice Alexandre de Moraes has been a thorn in the side of Bolsonaro and his supporters, was ransacked by the occupiers, according to social media images that showed protesters clubbing security cameras and shattering the windows of the modernist building.

Brasília’s governor, Ibaneis Rocha, wrote on Twitter that he had fired his top security official, Anderson Torres, previously Bolsonaro’s justice minister. The solicitor general’s office said it had filed a request for Torres’ arrest.
"Two Democrats in the US Congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Joaquin Castro, called for Bolsonaro’s extradition from the US."

Brazil's Supreme Court agrees to investigate former President Bolsonaro for riot : NPR
Justice Alexandre de Moraes granted a request from the prosecutor general's office to include Bolsonaro in the wider investigation, citing a video the former president posted on Facebook two days after the riot. It claimed Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva wasn't voted into office, but rather was chosen by the Supreme Court and Brazil's electoral authority.

Although Bolsonaro posted the video after the riot and deleted it in the morning, prosecutors argued its content was sufficient to justify investigating his conduct beforehand.

Otherwise, Bolsonaro has refrained from commenting on the election since his Oct. 30 defeat. He repeatedly stoked doubt about the reliability of the electronic voting system in the run-up to the vote, filed a request afterward to annul millions of ballots cast using the machines and never conceded.
So Trumpian.

Brazil’s Bolsonaro out of Central Florida hospital as calls mount for his expulsion – Orlando Sentinel
Bolsonaro is staying in a rental home near Disney World as tensions boil over in Brazil from his recent election defeat. He posted on social media Monday that he had received treatment from an Orlando-area hospital because of abdominal pain stemming from a 2018 stabbing attack but was then discharged.

“Grateful for the prayers and messages of prompt reinstatement,” he tweeted.

He needs to return to Brazil, said state Rep. Anna Eskamani, D-Orlando.

“Bolsonaro should not be in Florida,” she said. “He should absolutely be forced to go back to Brazil and go through the investigation of his crimes and not seek immunity by being in Florida.”

Brazil police find draft decree in ex-minister's house to revert election -source | Reuters
BRASILIA, Jan 12 (Reuters) - Brazilian police found a draft decree in the home of former President Jair Bolsonaro's justice minister that appears to be a proposal to interfere in the result of the October election he lost, two people familiar with the investigation said on Thursday.

The proposed decree, elaborated after Bolsonaro's narrow defeat by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, would establish an emergency "state of defense" for the national election authority, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), opening the door to altering the result, the sources said.

The document was found on Tuesday when police searched the home of Anderson Torres, who became security chief for Brasilia after Lula took office on Jan. 1, the people said.
Seems like a plan for a coup, a putsch.

Brazil riots timeline: How security failures opened a path to insurrection | CNN
Top Brazilian officials say that pre-agreed security plans were not carried out on the day.

CNN has analyzed a series of videos and livestreams posted on social media to explore the security failures that allowed an insurrection to take place with such extraordinary ease and found that some officers appeared friendly to the rioters, while many others seem woefully underprepared for the angry mob. CNN has not identified and spoken to the officers in the videos.
Then discussing the planning for the event, like planning to use a walkie-talkie-like smartphone app and detailed maps of the target buildings.
Brazil’s intelligence agency said it issued daily alerts ahead of January 8 to the government and the federal district government, warning the protests would be large and violent, CNN Brasil reports.

Their intelligence was based on a warning raised by the country’s transport agency that an unusual volume of buses had been chartered to Brasilia. Both the Minister of Justice Flávio Dino and then-Federal District Governor Ibaneis Rocha, a Bolsonaro ally, were notified, said the intelligence agency.

Despite the warnings, on January 7, Rocha told a Federal District news portal, Metropoles, that the protest would go ahead on the Esplanade – a grassy stretch surrounded by governmental buildings that leads directly to Brazil’s seats of power.

Storming of Brasília government buildings in maps and videos | Brazil | The Guardian - "Protesters marched along main avenue leading to Three Powers Plaza then broke into buildings"

The attackers had slogans like

Queremos o código fonte - We want the source code

A reference to the software of Brazil's electronic voting machines. Source code is what a programmer edits, and it's then translated into what the hardware directly uses.
