I can't decide if this is a really amazing idea or a really horrible one.

The original is pretty awful, which is in part why it was popular. Audiences would go to the theater and yell things at the movie while it played, and the things we (yes, I did it regularly) yelled at it were highly reminiscent of Mystery Science Theater 3000 long before MST3K was ever a thing.

People have tried showing the original movie on television before and it was always a flop because without the audience participation, it's just a bad musical turned into a bad movie. So if they are true to the original, the remake will be awful, but if the remake is good then it won't be true to the original. It seems like they put themselves into a no-win situation here.

But who knows? Maybe it will be fun and funny and properly simulate the experience of going to a movie theater and yelling at a bad, cheesy, campy movie.

I can't decide if this is a really amazing idea or a really horrible idea. What do you guys think?

There is simply no way it will be as good/bad as the original, though Adam Lambert as Eddie and Tim Curry as the Narrator look like they will be good.

Never seen Laverne Cox other than in interviews, has a decent amount of presence.

Tim Curry completely owned that role to a degree that may be unmatchable by anyone. So no reason to try - better to go in a lateral direction.

Just from the teaser, Victoria Justice looks like she is going to be awful as Janet. Anyone would have had a difficult time living up to Susan Sarandon's performance in the original, so it looks like the producers went in the opposite direction of really really really horrible.

Reeve Carney looks good as Riff-Raff

I finally saw it, and I had a huge grin on my face the whole time. Color me surprised.

Anyone who used to go to shows should enjoy it. Now idea how people unfamiliar with the material will or won't enjoy it.
