Roe v Wade is on deck

The problem for the ascendent MAGA wing of the Republican Party is that they have really convinced themselves that abortion is equivalent to murder, and they can't believe that the majority of the voting public might see it differently. Now they are stuck with all of the incendiary language that they used in the past, because how do you publicly come out and say you've changed your mind about murdering babies and can now see murdering them under certain circumstances?
Most Republicans actually *are* for murdering babies in certain circumstances.
The whole sanctity of life* thing.

* Some exclusions apply including but not limited to immigrants, illegal immigrants, mentally ill, children of poor parents, people that drive electric cars, recently born infants, people that need assistance in any way, Arabs, Muslims, Arab Muslims, Catholics, Jewish**.
Also, when it's their own.

So you've all convinced that those are cases that are also equivalent to murder, just like abortion is? I'm not convinced that MAGA stalwarts would have a hard time explaining the lack of equivalence in their minds.

They're already trying to sacrifice women:

Chance of actually getting a living baby: zero.
Chance of losing the woman: definitely there. Push her to the brink before intervening even when the course was inevitable. Typically that would be called reckless endangerment, or voluntary manslaughter if things went badly.

That's just idiotic.

When Travis County District Judge Maya Guerra Gamble handed down the temporary restraining order Thursday, Kate Cox, 31, of Dallas burst into tears. Cox and her husband desperately wanted to have this baby, but her doctors said continuing the nonviable pregnancy posed a risk to her health and future fertility, according to a historic lawsuit filed Tuesday.
Even if you are pro-life how does continuing a pregnancy like that this make sense under a pro-life philosophy?

There are no words, only contempt for how remarkably inhumane that man is.

That's just idiotic.

Since when does this have to make sense?

Missouri legislators are floating murder charges on women now.

No votes yet, but they are feeling it out, whether they have enough support among the gerrymandered state to push this through. Then they can make simple bans look "humane" or be a "compromise".

Texas Supreme Court temporarily (for now) halts order allowing woman to get abortion for doomed fetus, so they can address psychopath Paxton's complaint.

article said:
Paxton’s office petitioned the high court just before midnight Thursday, after a Travis County district judge granted a temporary restraining order allowing Kate Cox, 31, to terminate her nonviable pregnancy. Paxton also sent a letter to three hospitals, threatening legal action if they allowed the abortion to be performed at their facility.

On Friday evening, the state Supreme Court temporarily halted the lower court's order but did not rule on the merits of the case. The court said it would rule on the temporary restraining order, but did not specify when.
When? Well, hopefully before the woman dies or becomes infertile.

Yes, the GOP has a manner of doing things that can make one angry, but this is extending into the territory of rage. The temporary halt is nothing but trauma for this woman. I have no idea why anyone would want to live in Texas.

They want the child, the fetus is doomed, going to term provides nothing but risk, where is the fucking counter argument here? The Alt-Right has successfully turned idiotic adherence to hyper-technicalities into "reasoned" legal theory.

When people act irrationally there is no amount of reasoning that is going to make them change their behavior. If they find themselves in the other person's shoes they will lie, steal, cheat, and otherwise attempt to hide their hypocritical behavior.

Texas Supreme Court stops court order allowing pregnant Dallas woman to have an abortion

What utter creeps. I think she should have HAD the abortion just as soon as the previous decision came down, before these theocrats could intervene.

:codeninja:
Yea, this case should be a wakeup call for those fighting for bodily autonomy. The republicans want a total ban on abortion. Period. They have lied when they state that they favor states' rights (they want a national ban) and life of the mother. This lady is carrying a fetus that has no chance of life beyond 3 or 4 days. And yet, delivery could cause her grave problems. But it should be her choice to decide what to do. Not a government overreaching its power.

That's just idiotic.

It's an article of faith with them that there are no medical reasons. Thus medical reasons must not be allowed.

So they put legal exceptions in the law but then sue you if you try to use the exceptions?

That's just idiotic.

The decision has been reversed. She can't get the abortion.
