RussiaGate

The suppression of Putin's response should not be surprising. The reporter was trying to get Putin to deny meddling with a straight face, but he asked a two-part question--did Putin support Trump's bid for the presidency and did he order his government to meddle? Putin appeared to answer "yes" to both, but it wasn't totally clear which question he was answering.
Your russian sucks. He does not answer "yes" to any question. He answer "Yes, I wanted Trump to win" to the first and that's it, No reply for the second part most likely because it was not even translated to him, he was so quick.

You are not paying attention, and you've just admitted the very point we're arguing. From the raw story article:

“They just dropped that out,” Maddow said. “What the White House has disappeared from the official record, both in print and in the video, President Putin answering in the affirmative when asked if he wanted Trump to win the election.”
Russia doesn’t even show the reporter asked the question at all in their transcript.

“At least the White House had the courtesy to leave in half the question so you can get a misleading answer,” Maddow said. “The Russians took it out altogether. They skipped over the entire exchange. So a critical exchange deleted from the transcript. The U.S. government is following the Kremlin’s playbook and maintaining something we all saw happen with our own eyes, we all heard happen with our own ears, has nevertheless disappeared. Like old political opponents being airbrushed out of photos. Weird, right? Creepy. It turns out wasn’t a mistake. It was on purpose.”

So, you gonna believe Trump and Putin, or your lying eyes and ears?

What the fuck is wrong with you?
I repeat once again, on CNN video Putin said "Yes, I wanted Trump to win" and then explained why "We wanted better relations blah blah..."
I don't care what imbeciles at White House do, I don't care what imbeciles at Kremlin do. All I am saying, is that english translation is wrong. And both CNN lady and Maddow are just stupid for not stopping for a second asking themselves "Putin said that? but it makes no sense"

My problem with all of this was the clumsy and obvious doctoring of the transcript and video both by the white House and Kremlin. If there is something more to be said about the exchange, then the White House should have honestly and openly dealt with the issue. But that is not what the Trump white House and staff did. But Putin did openly admit that at the least, he wanted Trump to win. There is plenty of evidence that Russian gamed the US to achieve that goal.

I think Putin wanted to undermine the Clinton Presidency. I think this was a bit like 9/11, where bin Laden was hoping to create a massively dramatic attack, plowing planes into the WTC Towers... the collapse was icing. In this case, Putin wanted to undermine the trust in the Clinton Presidency. That Trump actually won was a level of win likely even the Russians couldn't have expected.

The problem is that Pootie and his pals may have outsmarted themselves. If the Dems take the House and Senate if not now but by 2020, and the presidency, there will be hell to pay for Russia. Already the Pootie troll army is starting up again. It will be most interesting in seeing where this all goes in the future.

If the Democrats take over, expect more in depth investigations, and more attempts to reign in Russia. Pootie may have out-clevered himself in the long tun. The Russians didn't really try that hard to cover their foot prints. This will take at least a decade to fully play itself out.

We will need a lot of popcorn.

Heh, if the Dems take over expect no more on Russia. It's just a cudgel for now and something no one really cares about.

No, you are very wrong about this. And it goes much deeper than just Pootie's games. Russia's generally bad behavior. And the general sad state of elections in America. Insecure voting systems. Voter suppression, voter caging. And more. Eventually there will be a deep and long backlash, and it will be a very real and effective campaign issue.

Russia is not our friend and many Americans are now realizing that we have a Russia problem and the GOP is not the party who can deal with it. A separate problem from campaign meddling and voter suppression etc.

This has nothing to do with my understanding of Russian, but more with your ability to read and understand what I wrote. In fact, I basically agreed with your interpretation of what Putin said. He likely did not intend to admit the truth--that he had ordered his intelligence services to intervene in our elections on behalf of Trump. However, Putin goofed by not explicitly denying that part of the question that asked about meddling. This opened him up to exactly the charge that Maddows raised--that he had answered the entire question in the affirmative. To cover up his goof, he had the entire exchange deleted, which just called more attention to it than was necessary. Trump's side also perceived Putin's awkward hasty response and reacted by partially modifying the official record. Both of these turkeys are clueless autocrats, but you seem to have a fondness for your own turkey. If I am wrong about that, please correct me.

Bring back the Clinton reset button! :joy:

Am I supposed to believe Putin doesn't speak English?

One and a half years into the Trump presidency, Republicans are still relying on Hillary-bashing and Obama-bashing to distract the public from the incredible mess that their party has made. Every day seems to bring on a new scandal or renew an old one with Donald Trump. Hillary Clinton has just a few that keep getting recycled in the right wing blogosphere but never actually led to any indictments or convictions. So we still get the nonsensical laserlike focus on her email server or the ultra-scrutinized Benghazi attack. That works for 30-40% of the American public, sad to say.

All the while passing a tax cut we can't afford and stuffing the courts at an unprecedented rate.

Cool story. So which Americans have been indicated for collusion with Russia so far? Bueller?

Most of Trump's immediate family and cronies, not least of whom was Putin's pet campaign strategist for Yanukovych, Paul Manafort, before he was removed from power in a popular revolution.

Latest report of the Putin - Trump question fiasco, as reported on MSNBC, Rachel Maddow. The White House has admitted that the posted tape transcript was not correct. And has reported it has sent a corrected transcript to the White House archivist. But the doctored transcript and video still remains on the white House website.

Honesty!

Nope, don't try to wiggle out of this shit. I understood everything and everybody perfectly. And you have not provided proof that entire exchange was deleted from anything. Even if it was there was no need for that, He answered first part of the question and that should be in transcript

By the way, one of the things that came out of this (sorry for being late to the party on this topic) is that now we know the NRA was working for the Russians and funneling money from Russia to American politicians.

Ever since we found out that Agent Redhead had lots of ties to the NRA, the NRA has fallen strangely silent, which is odd for an organization whose job is to talk to the media to sell guns.

Is anyone really surprised by any of this?

The organization whose life mission was to push policies that increase the number of Americans who get killed every year turns out to be an organization of traitors who were funneling money from a hostile foreign power to American politicians. The same politicians who promote NRA policies that kill Americans also support Trump's treason.

Is anyone at all surprised to find out that the organization dedicated to killing Americans turned out to be a bunch of traitors working for a hostile foreign power?

I'm sure I wasn't the only person wondering why they were working so hard to kill Americans.

Read mu post again. Carefully! If there is a problem with the question and Putin's answer, the White House should have honestly explained it with supporting evidence. Not just shoved it into an Orwellian memory hole! That action is bullshit. Pootie at the very least told us all that he wanted Trump to win. There is plentiful expert evidence of Russian meddling with our elections. This little exchange demonstrates how that may have come about. With the approval at the highest levels of the Russian government.

The problem is, all that meddling will turn out to have been a short sighted tar baby for Pootie and his pals. It is not like it won't have repercussions long term.
