Merged So what's next for Trump?

To denote when two or more threads have been merged
Reminds of the old star trek episode I, Mudd.

If Trump were ever to say "I always Lie" heads would explode cuz he finally told the truth.

I do remember him telling the truth once. He said that if everyone actually got to vote that Republicans wouldn’t win any more elections.

Twice. He said if i voted for Hillary, i'd get a president that was under investigation from Day 1. Well, i did vote for Hillary....

So, even if he did say, 'I alwsys lie!' ...that would be a lie.

Trump doesn't always lie. He sometimes rambles incoherently as well.

This is an incredible rewrite of history, in which he explains that Donald Trump, Glorious Leader, magically made the Korean Peninsula safer. 😂

Is it just me or is TFG in the Moonies now?

Here’s how they thanked Trump for his wooden propaganda:
“his precious speech”
“BRAVO”
the banners 😂

Here’s Gloria Arroyo, infamously dirty politician and President of the Philippines (under dubious circumstances) for 10 years.

Regardless of what you think of her, her oratory crushes TFG — in a foreign language.

Just so no one forgets what we’re dealing with. This is a very tame version of the greeting the “Mother of Peace,” or the “True Mother,” usually gets.

However, you can still clearly see, this is a cult.

OK, Mrs. Moon is creepy af.
Here she explains that “True Parents” by which she means herself and her dead husband are responsible for American success.

“For forty years True Parents have blessed America.” 😑

OK, she’s just going for it.
“Beginning on the Korean Peninsula, a new culture of the Pacific Rim civilization will expand throughout Asia and around the world.”

Um.

This just surreal. Here she says “contrary to the Atlantic civilization” by which she means, you know, the world, everything will totally awesome when the Pacific Rim civilization takes over.

(dark music)
But there is a big, big catch.

She has extremely specific ideas about what this new peaceful unified Korea better fucking do - hint: Moonie stuff.

About Korea: “This nation cannot be a secular nation that can only focus on human interests.” Then gets much worse. Wow.

“Let us realize one cosmic family of humanity under the Heavenly Parent.”

No, I’m good with my own family you actual monster.

Here’s an interview with the wife of one of the “True Parents’” sons, describing his abuse and the Moon’s reaction to it.

This just scratches the surface.
The idea that any head of state, former or otherwise, would share a stage with these sociopaths is disgusting.

Here’s what weddings in the Moonies look like. All of these are arranged weddings and many of the couples meet on their wedding day.

And yes, the cult leader in the crown is the same lady who was on stage with Trump, the True Parent, Mother of Peace, Mrs. Moon.

To learn more about the Moonies, cults and undue influence please follow my friend @CultExpert and read this thread.
Steven Hassan, PhD on Twitter: "Okay everyone.

"Moonies," the authoritarian CULT I was a part of, later escaped and have been speaking out against for the last 45+ years is trending.

If you want a crash course on this cult & their ties to the modern GOP, read these blogs of mine. They will catch you up. 👍" / Twitter

Mind-blowing. If a Dem had given this speech, it would be choice propaganda for the repubs. Can't imagine how my born-again Trumpist cousins view this. Trump must figure we're far enough out from '24 that it won't compromise his evangelical support. Haven't seen any reporting on T getting compensation for his speech. Without dollars, I can't imagine why he'd want to do it.

On the 20th anniversary of 9/11, Trump is speaking at a conference put on by Hak Ja Han Moon, the billionaire widow of Reverend Sun Myung Moon.

She is seen as a literal deity by the Unification Church aka “the Moonies” — a 50+ year old violent christofascist cult.

It’s hard to overstate how deeply harmful and deceptive this is. This is being pitched by a who’s who of establishment extremists as some sort of peace mission to unify Korea.

In reality it’s dangerous propaganda whitewashing a dangerous cult.

Dan Quayle, btw. Drink. 😑

The Moonies and many other cults use organizing for “peace” as a front for violent incitement.

Note that the World Anti-Communist League can be seen as the predecessor of the #CNP.

Ban Ki-moon, former UN chief who is participating in the Moonies conference was also seem with Nam-hee Kim head of the IWPG which is a front for yet another christofascist Korean group, the Shincheonji cult.

QAnon cult leader Lisa Clapier can be seen with Kim here in 2016.

Lisa Clapier is also connected to Iglesia ni Cristo, yet another violent Asian christofascist cult — this one based in the Philippines — which is rapidly spreading globally.

They speak of “peace” too.
Jim Stewartson, Antifascist, #RIPQ 🇺🇸🏴*☠️ on Twitter: "The same Lisa Clapier who was with Humphrey Angeles at the Iglesia ni Cristo HQ in the Philippines. Humphrey claimed he was a “former member” of the INC.

More and more kookery.

Korean religious cults’ pseudo-peace movements | Dear Kitty. Some blog
An infamous example of this is the ‘Unification Church’, also known as ‘Moonies’, founded by the late self-appointed ‘Messiah’ Sun Myung Moon from South Korea. Well, the official name is neither ‘Unification Church’ nor ‘Moonies’, but Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. This religious cult also has a satellite organisation, the Universal Peace Federation. There, one can hear nice-sounding, but abstract and vague, speeches about how good peace is. However, concrete action against wars and preparations for wars are hardly ever mentioned.

The Moon organisation has this in common with quite some politicians, who in their speeches support peace in the abstract, while supporting one or more concrete wars. Even Adolf Hitler, the worst war criminal in history, professed vague, abstract notions of peace in beautiful sounding speeches sometimes.

The Moonies are followers of the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon. In 1947, the North Korean authorities sent him to a prison camp for allegedly spying for South Korea, but he was freed in 1950 as a result of the Korean War. He went to South Korea and he founded his church / cult there, his Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity. He believed that Jesus Christ was executed before he could start a family, and he wanted to succeed where JC failed, turning all of humanity into a family with him as its father figure.

The Moonies have been on the right wing for a long time, and they founded the  Washington Times back in 1982.

I would assume that if it’s not true it’s not classified information and thus he can say what he wants

Nope. We flat do not talk about classified information. Not to confirm, deny, or mislead.

Imagine that they brief each President that Little Green Men come from Mars, but it's tippy-top secret. Threaten to transporter his balls into space andc his tax records to Pelosi if he reveals it.

Trying to drive up viewership at the boxing match, Junior asks, 'Dad, do you know if aliens come from Mercury?'
'Yes, and they all look like Hillary Clinton. On a bad day. Bleeding from their eye sockets.'
'How about Venus?'
'Oh, yeah. Venus aliens all look like Victoria's Secrets models. The only way to tell the men from the women is by height.'
'How about Mars?'
'Thst's classified.'
'Um, okay. Jupiter?'
'Everyone on Jupiter looks like Gabe Kaplan...'

In fact, I’d just assume everything he says on any topic is a lie.
good starting diagnosis.

And this is why you often see officials refusing to deny serious allegations.

Trump sues NYT, Mary Trump over story on tax history

Former President Trump on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against his niece, Mary Trump, along with The New York Times and three of its reporters over a 2018 story on his tax records, arguing they “engaged in an insidious plot” to gain access to sensitive records and were “motivated by a personal vendetta.”

The complaint, filed in New York’s Dutchess County, specifically named Times reporters Susanne Craig, David Barstow and Russell Buettner, who together published a series in 2018 based on Trump’s confidential tax and financial records, which the former president has for years resisted making public.

The reporting revealed, among other findings, that Trump made the equivalent today of at least $413 million from his father’s real estate empire, with the help of efforts to dodge taxes.

Trump noted in his lawsuit that while his niece had signed a confidentiality agreement in 2001, she was “convinced” by Times journalists “to smuggle the records out of her attorney’s office and turn them over to The Times.”

The former commander in chief went on to argue that the Times “attempted to capitalize on their receipt of the confidential record through their publication of various news articles,” while Mary Trump also engaged in “an ill-conceived effort to profit from these same events” by publishing her memoir, “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man.”

A judge in 2020 ruled in a legal effort to try and stop Mary Trump and publisher Simon & Schuster from releasing the book that the 2001 confidentiality agreement she signed along with other family members had been too vaguely defined, and the book’s publisher was not a signatory to the agreement and could, therefore, not be forced to comply.

arguing they “engaged in an insidious plot” to gain access to sensitive records and were “motivated by a personal vendetta.”
And Trump is saying that this is bad...right?

That personal vendettas are ungood?

So, we can sue... someone... for causing a government shutdown in a fit of pique? Asking for a friend.

As Trump hints at 2024 comeback, democracy advocates fear a ‘worst-case scenario’ for the country - The Washington Post
In recent weeks, Trump has maneuvered to firmly establish himself as the predominant and most powerful figure in Republican politics. He has injected his voice into federal and state campaigns, endorsing several secretary of state candidates who embraced his false fraud claims and worked to overturn the results of the 2020 election. And while still banned from Twitter, he has issued a flurry of angry tweet-like statements through his political action committee.

...
“We’re not forgetting 2020,” Trump said. “The most corrupt election in the history of our country. Most corrupt election in the history of most countries, to be followed by an even more glorious victory in November of 2024.”

...
The threats to democracy that Trump critics envision are largely twofold.

One real risk, they say, is that four years after the failed Jan. 6 insurrection, Trump and his supporters emerge in 2024 more sophisticated and successful in their efforts to steal an election.
Like avoiding some of the more absurd conspiracy theories of the recent election.
“For me, the scary part is, in 2020, this was not a particularly sophisticated misinformation or disinformation campaign,” said Matt Masterson, who ran election security at the Department of Homeland Security between 2018 to 2020. Referring to some of the outlandish conspiracy theories of ballot fraud posited in the wake of the 2020 election by Trump’s allies, he added: “We’re talking about bamboo ballots and Italian satellites and dead dictators.”
While trying to imply that losing an election can only be due to fraud.
Masterson pointed to the recall election in California earlier this month, in which Trump and the leading Republican candidate, who ultimately lost, both baselessly claimed fraud before the election even took place. The very existence of these false allegations of rigged and stolen elections erode trust in the democratic process and are also likely to become the norm going forward, he added, because of a growing “cottage industry of election delegitimization and pre-delegitimization.”
Then lawyer John Eastman's memo, arguing that a Vice President can toss out electoral votes: eastman.memo.pdf
The second possible scenario experts envision is more insidious, they say, a sort of slow-boiling frog of American democracy. In this case, Trump — or an acolyte with similarly anti-democratic sensibilities — runs and wins legitimately in 2024, emerging newly emboldened and focused on retribution. Then, the new president, intent on strengthening his own position and punishing critics, begins remaking the political and electoral system, using legal means to consolidate power and erode democratic institutions.
Making an analogy with Viktor Orbán of Hungary, someone recently admired by Tucker Carlson.
“He stacked the courts, he engaged in gerrymandering, he had friends and allies take over the media,” Abramowitz said, referring to Orbán. “So while he has elections, they start from a very, very stacked deck. While it’s not impossible, it’s going to be very, very difficult for him to be dislodged in the normal democratic system.”

The U.S. Constitution, with its protections of free speech and a free press, as well as its prohibition on anyone winning the presidency more than twice, offers a guiding document for preserving democracy. But Trump, during his four years in office, made clear that he wished he had the powers of a monarch or a strongman, repeatedly flouting the nation’s long-held rules and norms.

And he exposed the limits of the system.

Trump, for instance, installed a number of acting Cabinet secretaries when he could not win Senate confirmation for his picks; made clear he expected the attorney general to act as his own personal lawyer rather than represent the interests of the United States; implied that the Supreme Court justices he nominated should rule in his favor out of personal loyalty; and tried to leverage U.S. foreign policy to influence his own political fortunes — resulting in the first of his two impeachments.
Which raises a big problem: what happens with a would-be leader with less of Trump's impulsiveness and emotional immaturity? On the plus side, those features seem to endear him to his base, so having less of those features may make it hard to get that sort of support.

These claims of fraud are very troubling:
“Democracy depends on the belief of losers in a given election to trust the process, and to marshal support so they can win another day,” said Nate Persily, a professor at Stanford University and co-director of the Stanford-MIT Healthy Elections Project. “If we have entered a phase where the process is simply not trusted, that is a dangerous situation to be in, where people do not trust elections as being the way that we replace authority.”
In short, on the losers being good losers.

Opinion | Our constitutional crisis is already here - The Washington Post
The United States is heading into its greatest political and constitutional crisis since the Civil War, with a reasonable chance over the next three to four years of incidents of mass violence, a breakdown of federal authority, and the division of the country into warring red and blue enclaves. The warning signs may be obscured by the distractions of politics, the pandemic, the economy and global crises, and by wishful thinking and denial. But about these things there should be no doubt:

First, Donald Trump will be the Republican candidate for president in 2024. ...

Second, Trump and his Republican allies are actively preparing to ensure his victory by whatever means necessary. ...

Meanwhile, the amateurish “stop the steal” efforts of 2020 have given way to an organized nationwide campaign to ensure that Trump and his supporters will have the control over state and local election officials that they lacked in 2020. ...

The stage is thus being set for chaos. Imagine weeks of competing mass protests across multiple states as lawmakers from both parties claim victory and charge the other with unconstitutional efforts to take power. ...

Today’s arguments over the filibuster will seem quaint in three years if the American political system enters a crisis for which the Constitution offers no remedy.

The Republicans have been making a big deal about how Pence should have refused to certify the election results of certain States where things did not exactly go Trump's way. I say that in 2024 we take them at their word that this is a legitimate course of action for a VP, and allow VP Harris to refuse to certify the votes of any of these States that have rigged their election laws.

There is no way Republicans can complain about that, right?

Trump asks US judge to force Twitter to restore his account

NEW YORK (AP) — Former President Donald Trump has asked a federal judge in Florida to force Twitter to restore his account, which the company suspended in January following the deadly storming of the U.S. Capitol.

Trump’s attorneys on Friday filed a motion in U.S. District Court in Miami seeking a preliminary injunction against Twitter and its CEO, Jack Dorsey. They argue that Twitter is censoring Trump in violation of his First Amendment rights, according to the motion.

Twitter declined to comment Saturday on Trump’s filing.

He's like a child who's had his phone taken from him.

I hope the lawyers got paid upfront.

I think that that's the same one where Trump claims that the account is a government entity because he used it when he was president. Of course he used it long before he was president.

Judge says Trump can be deposed in former 'Apprentice' contestant's lawsuit

NEW YORK, Oct 4 (Reuters) - A New York state judge on Monday gave former U.S. President Donald Trump a Dec. 23 deadline to undergo questioning in a defamation lawsuit filed by a former contestant on "The Apprentice" after he denied her sexual assault accusations.

Justice Jennifer Schecter of the New York state court in Manhattan said Trump must submit to a deposition, after his lawyer said Trump planned to countersue his accuser, Summer Zervos, under a state law designed to encourage free speech.

Schecter ruled after a conference where the planned countersuit was announced, and lawyers for Trump and Zervos accused their opponents of stalling.

"He just cannot delay this case any longer," Zervos' lawyer Moira Penza said at the conference.

Rep. Gerry Connolly on Twitter: "BREAKING: After 5 years of investigation, ..." / Twitter
BREAKING: After 5 years of investigation, @RepMaloney and I have obtained evidence that Donald Trump hid debts, concealed millions in losses, and received millions more from Foreign Governments at Trump Hotel.

Despite the precedent set by every modern American president, during his term in office, President Trump retained his financial interest in his various business entities, including the Trump Hotel. The hotel opened to the public in September 2016, just weeks after Mr. Trump accepted the nomination for President. Throughout his term, there were numerous reports about foreign and domestic interests patronizing the Trump Hotel as a way to curry favor with the President.

For more than five years, @OversightDems has been investigating conflicts of interest related to GSA’s management of the Trump Hotel’s lease. Under Trump, GSA failed to substantially comply with the Committee’s requests. On July 9, 2021, GSA finally produced a subset of documents, including the Hotel’s audited financial statements, three-years’ worth of documents that were submitted to GSA to win the federal lease, and communications between Trump’s businesses and GSA regarding the lease. These documents show:

1. President Trump reported massive earnings at Trump Hotel to conceal over $70 million in losses.

2. While in office, Trump received preferential treatment potentially worth millions from a foreign bank.

3. The Trump Hotel received over $3.7 Million from foreign governments.

4. President Trump concealed debts when bidding on the Old Post Office Building lease.

5. The Trump Hotel moved around millions of dollars in opaque transactions with other Trump businesses.

We on @OversightDems have been relentless in our pursuit of accountability for the thinly-veiled criminal enterprise Donald Trump ran from the Oval Office.

The investigation does not stop here.

Almost a year ago:
Rep. Gerry Connolly on Twitter: "I’ve seen several recent stories ...:" / Twitter
I’ve seen several recent stories in the press that seem to point to a coordinated attempt to portray @GSAEmily as some kind of unassuming, apolitical bureaucrat.

My subcommittee oversees GSA. I know Admin Murphy. She is a Trump loyalist, through and through.

In 2017, Trump cancelled plans to relocate the FBI headquarters from the crumbling (literally) Hoover Building in DC to suburbs in VA or MD. Fine — normally, presidents have that right.

But Trump had a direct interest in the outcome of the project.

First, you need to know that Trump nearly bid on the Hoover Building himself as part of the relocation.

And when he cancelled the project, he was actively refusing to end his lease on another GSA property up the street:

Trump International Hotel.

Trump’s proposal was to replace the Hoover building with a new one. We were concerned that he was pressuring GSA into complying because he feared the competition of another hotel being built so close to his own.

He was looking out for his bottom line.

Admin Murphy told Congress that the president was not involved in discussions to scrap the relocation plan. She lied.

@OversightDems found an official WH photo of her and Trump during a meeting in which the relocation plan *was* discussed.

GSA later admitted she had misled us.

I’ll end with this.

My team and I have dealt with GSA under her leadership for years, and we made every effort to do so in good faith. But her subservience to the president was a permanent and insurmountable hurdle in our efforts to cooperate.

Sadly, I’ve been left with just one conclusion:

.@GSAEmily may be a federal employee, but she’s made clear that she is no public servant.

I pray she proves me wrong.
GSA = General Services Administration

GSA chief may have misled Congress about White House involvement in FBI headquarters, according to draft of inspector general report - The Washington Post
"Last year the GSA and the FBI scrapped a long-delayed plan to build an FBI headquarters campus in the Washington suburbs in favor of a proposal to build a smaller headquarters in downtown D.C. and relocate some staff to Alabama, Idaho and West Virginia."

Federal government cancels costly, decade-long search for a new FBI headquarters - The Washington Post
"Trump is familiar with the project from his career as a real estate developer and said he considered bidding for it himself. In 2013, he signed a lease for another GSA property nearby on Pennsylvania Avenue NW, the Old Post Office Pavilion, which he turned into the Trump International Hotel."

Trump intervenes in FBI headquarters project - The Washington Post
"For years, FBI officials have raised alarms that decrepit conditions at its current headquarters, the J. Edgar Hoover Building, constitute serious security concerns. A year ago, federal officials had finally decided on three finalist locations in Maryland and Virginia, and Congress appropriated $913 million toward a project expected to cost more than $3 billion.

Six months after Trump entered the White House, his administration abandoned the plan, and it proposed in February that the government build a smaller headquarters to replace the Hoover building in downtown D.C. and move 2,300 other FBI staffers out of the Washington area altogether, to Alabama, Idaho and West Virginia. At the time, the decision baffled real estate experts and some members of Congress."
