Everyone agrees that the Wrath of Khan is the best Star Trek movie ever.
Perhaps I mentioned it because I don't care about your opinion not to care about other people's opinion.

Well, that makes me feel insecure and unwanted.
All I ever wanted was to be loved and valued. Why do you have to make that so hard?![]()

Tom, we really, really, do NOT want to hear about what makes you hard.
credoconsolans said:You are in the minority. Star Trek the Undiscovered Country is pretty much seen by most of the fandom as the worst of the franchise
I've never heard anyone say that. The universal opinion I heard was as of the first six, the even numbers were the best, and the odd numbers were the worst. With VI being worst of the best, and III being the best of the worst.

Um, that view isn't widely held.
Star Trek 2 and 3 are well liked, Star Treks 1, 4 and 5 are mostly disliked.

Where are you getting this information? Granted The Motion(less) Picture and V (why does God need a star ship?) are at the bottom of most lists I've seen, but IV? I was under the impression that Star Trek IV "There Be Whales Here" is one of the better liked of the original cast movies. Just for shits and grins, I looked it up on the inter-googles.

That list puts IV right behind the other movie you said was disliked...The Undiscovered Shakespeare.

That list puts IV at (oddly enough) 4, though I'm sure self-appointed "true" fans will disagree with where they ranked Star "JJ Ruined" Trek (2009).

That list was published before "Into (the) Darkness of Gratuitous Underwear Shots" came out, but it puts IV at #2.
Is there some secret fandom decoder ring that reads these things differently?

The whale movie is #3.

I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to turn over your Trek Fan Card.
The whale movie was the highest grossing of the Star Trek movies, until the recent ones. Unlike the next generation movies, it realized that Star Trek wasn't an action show, and went with fish out of water comedy mixed with serious environmental issues, and succeeded wildly. It was in many ways, the most Star Trek of the Star Trek movies. Star Trek has always been about issues. Now they've just become dumb action movies. At least the new ones are well crafted, unlike the NextGen ones, which were dumb and shoddy.
This "which Star Trek-and-or-Wars is best" debate is rather fruitless. To get us all on the same page, can we at least agree that the best Battlestar Galactica was Galactica 1980?
