The underlying message of my narrative, in relation to the original post, is that unwarranted regulations often give rise to more issues than they were designed to avert.

Y'all are giving me nightmares. This kind of crap is what rendered me incompatible with authority figures and organizations at an early age. I never got along with cops whatsoever until I had a little leverage with them.

Can be. We only went through it once when my kids were young. Thank heavens.

No locs. But lots of hair. Kids were old enough to read a large inserts so there was some discussion about how head lice was preferable to other types of body lice. Daughter did an impromptu musical number about live.

Let’s face it: If Jesus we’re walking the earth now, so called Christians would advocate for maximum charges against him and the death penalty.

If the government or any institution is prepared to allow religious exemptions for a certain regulation, it might make sense to reassess the necessity and validity of the rule in its entirety. Carving out rules and then announcing that little snot nosed Timmy is exempt because well "he's Timmy bro!" is unfair and inconsistent in my opinion. The school is basically saying "I don't want to offend this student over their unkept hair" and then turns to another student to say "that unkept hair is unacceptable!!"

You're absolutely correct. Lice doesn't care, and dreadlocks are absolutely NOT more susceptible. Unfortunately, getting RID of lice is hard with locs. I had friends that had to cut them off due to lice.

Yes, actually, it does. And hairspray helps prevent it (as do other hair care products.). Lice prefer clean hair with no unnatural chemicals. (BTW, I owned a child care center and summer camp - became an expert in lice and lice eradication!!)

One of my sons ‘threatened’ me telling me he was going to grow his hair out past his shoulders. I laughed out loud and asked if he realized when I grew up. Another one did grow his hair all the way down his back. They’ve all grown beards like their dad—well, not my daughter. It’s just hair.

In some settings/occupations, hair must be restrained for safety reasons. I admit that it shocks me every time I see pro football players with hair hanging out under their helmets. Seems like it could be a safety issue.
