Every single person who understands anything about epidemiology, virology, or immunology.Who supported world wide vacinations?
I certainly did; And I wasn't aware that Bill Gates was in agreement with me on the question, though his charitable work and good general science education made it a fair bet that he would, or at least should.
I am not much of a fan of rich people using their wealth to do things through charity that should be done by government, because I believe that democracy is superior to aristocracy. As a result, I would be much happier with a world in which Bill Gates was merely comfortably well off, rather than wealthy enough to singlehandedly influence policy.
Bill Gates is a distraction in immunology, much as Al Gore is a distraction in climatology - we shouldn't be so influenced by celebrity or wealth, even on those occasions when the individual in question is correct.
But we assuredly shouldn't be dissuaded from doing the right thing because it's supported by some random wealthy or famous person.
As a card-carrying "lefty", I despise the system that gives Bill Gates such a disproportionate amount of influence. But I nevertheless welcome any and all actions, even by such individuals as Mr Gates, that might encourage more people to be vaccinated.
I don't recognise the bizarro world you describe in your OP at all. The ultra rich shouldn't exist, but that they do doesn't imply that there's some big conspiracy - just that our economic system is designed to increase inequality, and that some people get lucky, while others don't.
