The RFK Jr. Thread

Well, clearly it’s not scientific if they have to vote on what goes into a vaccine. And they call themselves experts??? Sheesh.
True. The research they review for this vote has been shut down. So without data to discuss and predict, it's just a dart board now. Science is looking at data and trends but one of the first steps of this administration has been to gut Health agencies because they made Trump look bad during Covid.

An unvaccinated school age child in Texas died from measles. The first in decades.
And RFK says it happens every year. I spent 20 years in public health. During that time I believe our epidemiologists investigated maybe 2 cases of measles.

I'm sure this has absolutely nothing to do with the anti-vaxx bullshit conservatives are spreading.

Doctors on the receiving end will follow the progression outlined by NASA/Everest Doctor Howard Donner:

If he sees it once it’s “in my experience”.
If he sees it twice, it’s “an emerging trend”.
If he sees it three times it’s “in case, after case, after case…”
Then, when the wards are overflowing, supplies run out and death is everywhere?
I dunno… Cancun is favored by at least one of Texas’ elected morons.

The tricky part is going to be all of the unvaccinated adults. In the '00s, really just kids were unvaccinated. Now days, those people are adults.

Measles could close off hospitals with birth wards and NICUs. People don't get how complicated this makes everything. They are so damn stupid. They can't see a problem, it doesn't exist.

But this is public health in the Kennedy era, where the secretary’s life’s work has been dismantling trust in the very vaccines that could have prevented this outbreak, and where the public official now in charge of the agencies that regulate and advise on vaccines wrote in a 2021 book that measles outbreaks had been “fabricated to create fear that in turn forces government officials to ‘do something.’”

And so, at a Cabinet meeting Wednesday, Kennedy’s response to the child’s death offered something else entirely: an unconcerned and casual reply.

“We are following the measles epidemic every day,” Kennedy said, adding that “incidentally, there have been four measles outbreaks this year. In this country last year there were 16. So it’s not unusual. We have measles outbreaks every year.”

Kennedy then said that the hospitalized children were there “mainly for quarantine,” an assertion swiftly dismissed by the chief medical officer at the Lubbock children’s hospital where they are being treated, who described the admitted children as having difficulty breathing.

CDC now has on its website a recommendation for Vitamin A to treat the measles. But it's only helpful if you're deficient which is not common in US.

This didn't used to be a problem until Covid came. Now, despite the fact that Trump fast tracked the vaccine, even he doesn't like it since it wasn't released prior to the 2020 election. And Covid was such a hot potato that gave a national platform to the fringe anti vaxers. Add that to the internet, where experts such as pro athletes could weigh in with their views on vaccines and suddenly the antivaxxers are reaching more people than they could have imaged in their wildest dreams.

I spent 20 years in Public Health and my brother voted for Trump and could be considered a Covid antivaxxers. He repeated the arguments from the right that even people who were vaccinated got covid. My brothers not an idiot, but I pointed out that the point of vaccines may not be to eradicate it, but to reduce the impact. I am retired and ride in a cycling group whose ages range from late 60's to early 90's....prime age to be killed by covid. All of us got the vaccine, and a few contracted covid after that. None of them died. Which means the vaccine did it's job.

But now these same people who don't like the vaccine crow that they were right that Covid was a Chinese lab leak., So this administration kills off the departments that played a role in bringing the death toll down...and never stop to think that China might "accidentally" have another leak of a new and improved virus. So the next pandemic could kill a lot more, only now the US would be behind the 8 ball because our research facilities and funding have been slashed. Take a deep breath and just SMELL that greatness.

It keeps getting worse.

So much for this administration being against government waste.

They'll cut NASA's science budget in half but waste money studying already debunked claims? Hopefully this doesn't take more than about a couple of days for someone to collate the appropriate studies and report on it.

Were you buying that BS at all, ever?
Um no... most of my posts here are sarcastic, but I don't tend to use </sarcasm> indicators. I usually rely on them being obvious to the discerning reader. I know in this day and age though that the line between reality and satire is getting fainter and fainter.
