The Virus - Are You Affected?

The media? Half-Life, I thought that you believe in capitalism. The news media is almost 100% capitalism, and capitalism always produces the best of all possible worlds, right?

It's much more necessary to go to a store than to go to a bar. But in extreme cases, one can do home delivery of groceries.

"Michael Levitt praised Israel for its preventative measures. He said most people are naturally immune, and that since the infection rate in China is slowing down, "the end of the pandemic is near."

I for one am glad. No more stupid people fighting each other over toilet paper as if the disease is in people's butts or something.

I'd like to know how you can wipe your ass with your head in the way.

I'm not the one who thinks coronavirus affects your butt, so I don't fight anyone over toilet paper.
Thise people are the idiots. THE DISEASE IS NOT IN YOUR BUTT! I wish I could go into grocery stores and yell this at all the idiots.

I've been wiping down my mail with rubbing alcohol to disinfect it. I heard someone suggest that money, mail, and other paper objects can be disinfected by placing them in an oven set at 165 F or higher. That seems to make sense. I also carry around an 8 ounce spray bottle with 70% alcohol to mist door knobs and such.

I like the way you think. My goal is to make it to the vaccine still covid-free. I'm treating this like a video game where I'm going to finish the whole game in one try.

If you are going to get the virus, then you are going to get the virus. There's nothing you can do about it. This is how life is. Things are meant to be.

Just like if someone gets hit by a bus. They couldn't avoid it or stop it. It was their time to go. Lots of people have this attitude.

Which is why there's no point looking left or right before crossing a road.

What's the point?

There may or may not be traffic coming towards you but what can you do?

It may just be your time.

Just start walking.

isn't that one o' them there tautology things? If you're gonna, you're gonna?

Did you mean to say, 'if yer fated to get C19'?
There's nothing you can do about it. This is how life is. Things are meant to be.
but is it not ALSO written, god helps those who help themselves?
So, all in all, there's no good reason NOT to practice social distancing. I lack the power to frustrate fate, but i do not know whst my fate actually is.

Yes, Inshallah. As Skybeast wills it.
Or not.
Can't really tell from down here.

You can take precautions, but if it happens, it happens. Lots of people are taking precautions with the coronavirus, yet many still got it despite the precautions.

Just like how some people never smoke a cigarette a day in their lives and they get lung cancer at age 40. Others smoke like a chimney and live to be 100 with no lung problems.

It's fate. All is in God's plan. Science can't explain that.

Societal norms, Keith. I could get kicked out for yelling that. And since most people are uneducated, they probably wouldn't understand what I'm talking about.

I thought you said people "couldn't avoid it or stop it"?

But people can take precautions to possibly avoid it or stop it?

But there's no point in precautions because "It's fate. All is in God's plan."

Minnesota and Vermont will classify grocery store employees as emergency workers

(CNN)As many people across the country hunker down in their homes to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, others still have to report to work each day -- because they perform critical functions that allow the rest of us to stay safe and healthy.

In addition to health care workers and first responders, the people on the frontlines of the outbreak also include grocery store employees: the clerks who operate the registers, the staff who stock the shelves, the people who work in distribution and the workers who keep the stores clean.
Now some states are classifying grocery store workers as emergency employees, making them eligible for certain benefits.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz issued an executive order over the weekend that provides childcare for school-age children of emergency workers, which now encompasses grocery store employees. The guidance following the order classifies "food distribution workers" as essential tier 2 employees for whom districts should provide childcare. "Care for children of educators, gas and electric utility workers, food distribution personnel, water treatment staff, and others outlined below is essential to ensuring the public continues to receive these vital services," the executive order reads.

Those are the people who will probably get it the most. The expendable workers at those places.

I went into 711 last night and there was a customer there telling the workers, "I feel sorry for you guys. You're risking your life for 711 and if you die, you'll be replaced tomorrow. You should tell 711 to go screw themselves and that your life is more important." The workers just did a little nervous laugh.

For those people, it is truly very scary. They have a lot of dedication. If I worked at a grocery store or a 711, I would've quit right away when I realized they don't care about their workers.

Halfie, why would you say they are risking their lives when you don't think the virus is a problem?

Halfie, why would you say they are risking their lives when you don't think the virus is a problem?

It's more of a problem when you are constantly coming into contact with possibly 500-1,000 customers per shift and anyone can have the virus when they walk in.

Would you risk your life for minimum wage at a 711 over that? I wouldn't. But, lots of people do. I also told you guys about how my friend had a fever and they forced him to go in because the manager said "we don't close down under any circumstances. You go to work or you are fired."

The stress over C19, stores closing, no school perhaps for a year, empty grocery isles, no place to go, no visiting friends, is really going to stress out the kids and therefore the parents. And that's assuming the parents still have jobs.

I still have my job and don't really think I will lose it. I work at home for a consulting company and have worked at home for over 10 years. But the kids!

If I lose my job I think we would still get by and I could probably still retire on savings even if the markets lost 50% from the high water mark but it,s still psychological stress.

I think besides physical health crisis, i think that there will be a mental health crisis.

Two of my kids had major emotional issues this evening.

Coronavirus kills 3 family members, sickens 4 others after dinner in New Jersey

A 73-year-old New Jersey woman died from coronavirus without knowing that her two adult children also got infected and died shortly before she did, The New York Times reported.

Grace Fusco, 73, died Wednesday and was unaware of the deaths of her oldest son and daughter from Covid-19, the disease caused by coronavirus.

A relative told the newspaper that four other children also have coronavirus and remain hospitalized -- three in critical condition. CNN has reached out to a family representative but has not heard back.

The infections appeared to have originated from a family dinner this month, the Times reported. It said the first person to die from coronavirus in New Jersey attended that gathering.

Another family member has died from this.

Well, that’s CA on lockdown. Newsom doing a bit of grandstanding I think.

If they don't change their behavior they are projected for 50% of Californians to get it within 8 weeks.

He had to close bars and tell people to stay home because dumbasses weren't listening.

Also:
Earlier this week, Newsom ordered all non-essential businesses to close, including bars, beer pubs and wineries. Grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, cannabis clubs and other businesses deemed as essential are still open, state and local officials say.

You're about to be hit by a national crisis (as are we in the UK) that will last several months, even years. Look at Italy. Italy is a wealthy country with an excellent healthcare system. They could not cope.
Italy wealthy? Compared to what? Certainly not some other EU countries. Remember the PIIGS?

And whilst Italy is only second to China in terms of confirmed cases, the USA are moving up the rankings: you overtook France and South Korea today. You may get to number one yet,.
Well we have the highest population out of all these countries.

Which means we would still be in the exponential growth phase.

And Italy's system is pretty close to ours. The high death toll is because of the demographics.

Too bad your mom didn’t take precautions.

Donald McNeil, NYT Health Reporter on TRMS, just said in two weeks we will exceed Italy in deaths.

He also said we are following the Italy model of response instead of the asian model.

Of course we will exceed Italy in deaths. Italy only has 61 million people. We have 327 million. The ones who will die will be a majority of the old people who have already lived full healthy and happy lives. The young people will be fine. If by some chance I contract the virus and die, then so be it. It was my time to go. I will accept God's plan accordingly.

Not all of us believe in a murderous sky daddy. And some of us have partners that we care about, also.
