Actually, the message has changed rather drastically about young people being safe. It turns out that 20% of hospitalizations have been young people between 20-44 years of age. We have been wrong to say that it is only the elderly with underlying illnesses who need to worry. It is all of us.

A 73-year-old New Jersey woman died from coronavirus without knowing that her two adult children also got infected and died shortly before she did, The New York Times reported.

Grace Fusco, 73, died Wednesday and was unaware of the deaths of her oldest son and daughter from Covid-19, the disease caused by coronavirus.

A relative told the newspaper that four other children also have coronavirus and remain hospitalized -- three in critical condition. CNN has reached out to a family representative but has not heard back.

The infections appeared to have originated from a family dinner this month, the Times reported. It said the first person to die from coronavirus in New Jersey attended that gathering.

Compared to countries in general. Italy is a wealthy country with an advanced economy, a high standard of living, and an excellent health service. If they can be overwhelmed, anybody can.

Looking at all of Italy and extrapolating their numbers to the US paints an overly optimistic picture.

Cases have been reported in every province, but a majority are still in a handful of fairly localized hotspots.

However, the tiny nation of San Marino, surrounded by Italy, might give us a better glimpse of what is to come if no early and decisive measures are taken, or if measures are relaxed prematurely. They have 33,000 inhabitants (yes, that's thousands, not millions), and are pretty much inside one of Italy's hotspots (the entire country). As of yesterday, 3 weeks after the first confirmed case, they had over 100 confirmed cases, 14 deaths and around 2% of the population under individual quarantine (the whole country is in lockdown, those are just suspected cases and contacts).

I've been wiping down my mail with rubbing alcohol to disinfect it. I heard someone suggest that money, mail, and other paper objects can be disinfected by placing them in an oven set at 165 F or higher. That seems to make sense. I also carry around an 8 ounce spray bottle with 70% alcohol to mist door knobs and such.

well i started a new job today, and the drive downtown was a breeze and the bagel place was empty.
so far in a purely personal basis this is pretty sweet, we need more national panic attacks if it means my commute is so much easier.

I've just purchased some Hanes undershirts with "FreshIQ" that "inhibits microbial action". It uses something call Silverdur that emits silver ions. Probably not the first line of defense against coronavirus but it's supposed to last for 30 washings or so.

Minnesota and Vermont will classify grocery store employees as emergency workers

In addition to health care workers and first responders, the people on the frontlines of the outbreak also include grocery store employees: the clerks who operate the registers, the staff who stock the shelves, the people who work in distribution and the workers who keep the stores clean.
Now some states are classifying grocery store workers as emergency employees, making them eligible for certain benefits.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz issued an executive order over the weekend that provides childcare for school-age children of emergency workers, which now encompasses grocery store employees. The guidance following the order classifies "food distribution workers" as essential tier 2 employees for whom districts should provide childcare. "Care for children of educators, gas and electric utility workers, food distribution personnel, water treatment staff, and others outlined below is essential to ensuring the public continues to receive these vital services," the executive order reads.

Considering the amount of shit being spewed forth, it's pretty obvious no arse wiping is happening. And I seriously doubt Half-life knows what a lota urn is so it's best to just not think about it.
