This week in vegan overreach

After reading wiki on it, I understand that impossible burger is so good that it would give you a colon cancer like real burger.

Sarcasm noted.
I was not trying to be. It's just that they discovered that protein which gives red meat its characteristic taste is what makes red meat dangerous. They synthesize that protein from plant based ones. So eating too much impossible burger will give you cancer as real one. Of course their goal was to recreate burger as close as possible to real one.

Outgoing Greens MLA (member of the legislative assembly) Caroline Le Couteur wants vegan food to the default option in ACT hospitals:
Greens MLA Caroline Le Couteur's motion, which called on the Government to support a shift to more plant-based food options, was overwhelmingly voted against in the Assembly on Wednesday afternoon.
...

Ms Le Couteur's proposal would, among other things, change the default meal in hospitals to be plant-based, unless patients requested a specific meal.
...

The Greens MLA pointed to a recent report by the International Panel on Climate Change which emphasised the importance of shifting towards plant-based diets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The motion called on the ACT Education Directorate to require "all school canteens to provide plant-based food options for students", and update health promotion programs to better support plant-based foods.

All events catered by the ACT Government would be required to "include plant-based food options in sufficient quantity to adequately cater for vegetarians and vegans".

I don't mind the government providing options, but most people are not vegans and the idea that you'd actively have to opt out or be served a plate of vegan sadness while you're sick in hospital probably was a misstep. You know your idea is bad when even the ACT Labor party (with whom the Greens are in a coalition government) can't support the virtue signalling.

They never get tired of wagging a disapproving finger in your face, they just can't help themselves from trying to interfere. It's another form of religion that has taken hold.

Seems to me the only ones doing any finger wagging are you and the rest of the RWs here.

No finger wagging from me, I'm not the authoritarian trying to dictate what other people should eat.

I get the distinct impression you are dissing vegan, flex diets. That behavior strikes me as being the exact behavior you say you are preaching against.

Triggers are anything that remind someone of previous trauma. To be triggered is to have an intense emotional or physical reaction, such as a panic attack, after encountering a trigger.

If you believe that I've been traumatised by vegans and that my OP reflects the result of a triggering, I'm glad you are an economist and not a psychologist.
The normal response to this proposal and its subsequent overwhelming failure would be "meh".

As to what trigger may mean, try

A topic, phrase or word that emotionally sets someone off.
(source: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=trigger)

So, yeah, the OP is an example of triggered response.

The oxycontinburger will be the American staple if this administration stays in power for another 5 years.

One can come up up with a lot of adjectives to describe a vegan diet, but "flexible" is certainly not one of them.

Veganism is not a topic, phrase or word that 'sets me off', but if you believe you have the handle on what a 'normal' response is, then sure, I was triggered. If you have no interest in legislators trying to introduce restrictions on their populations and don't think it's worth discussing, you should probably stay out of threads that discuss them, instead of going in them to pettily insult the OP.

The word flexitarian is used to describe people who are basically vegetarians but occasionally eat flesh. They may eat fish or meat a couple times a month, maybe more maybe less, but they are basically vegetarians, not vegans. It is to the term flexitarian I was referring.

The title of the OP ,its rhetoric and your responses indicates it did "set you off" .If the proposal was truly over-the-top or was passed or came close to being passed, you'd had have a real point. But none of that was true. The proposal was as close to a nothing burger (meat or otherwise) IMO, and nothing to get worked up about.
If you have no interest in legislators trying to introduce restrictions on their populations and don't think it's worth discussing, you should probably stay out of threads that discuss them, instead of going in them to pettily insult the OP.
More evidence that it is still triggering you.

Sure Jan.

Huh. So, its sort of like to people who say they are monogamous, but occasionally cheat on their partner?

It kinda reminded me of the Groucho Marx line: Those are my principles, and if you don't like them...I have others.

The good news is it turns out I'm a Flexitarian of the "maybe more" variety. I've looked back and I'm completely 100% vegetarian if you don't count the times I eat meat.

I look forward to lording my superiority over others.

Oh, I'm more committed than that. I eat and wear animal products but I identify as a vegan, so that means I am one.

Who am I to judge*? But if you identify as vegan, eating meat doesn't mean you arent, it just means you are a shitty and unfaithful vegan who is very bad at living your identity.

Honestly, I'd judge a person like you more negatively over this moral failure than a faithful vegan over their questionable morals

When Vegetable Jesus comes he will forgive us all our sins of the flesh.
