Trump America

It was very bad but not so much because he lied since lie is so unexceptional but because people still voted for him even though his lies were so outrageous and therefore so transparent.

Wait. Did most Trump voters really believed his lies?

I would think not.

So what is more likely very bad is that so many people should have become so hopeless that they deliberately voted for the guy who was so outrageously lying.

Well. Remember what others have already pointed out: Hillary won the popular vote, if not by much. So, at least half the voters didn't like Trump's lies.

I'd say this is reason enough for hoping some think truth still matters.

Trump was caught in every single lie he told. Research done showed he was the least honest of any of the candidates. Hillary was DEMONSTRABLY the most honest candidate.
So, truth matters since she won the popular vote.
EB

The problem is, that she isn't going to be in the White House. Enough people bought a con. How? If truth and facts matter? If they mattered, Trump SHOULD have been gone within a month of him announcing his campaign. But here we all are.

Yes, of course his supporters believe he will do what he said he would, or most of it. Why else choose the most stupid candidate out there?

Logic? Rational reasons? No such things exist for Trump's qualifications for office.

The only people who voted for him are either morons, or those mired in their ideological bubbles and refuse to see out of it or change. I know people like the latter. Most of them well educated. But they were raised a certain way with a certain mindset and that's it. No discussion.

As for Trump's moron supporters, I live in a border state. All the bubbas are completely sure he's going to make Mexico build a wall and they even know what technological gadgets we need to patrol it.

There must be a lot of morons in the USA given the percentage of votes for Trump

Yes, there are. Sadly.

Trump won 28 out of 50 States which gave him the edge with the Electoral college.

But lost the popular vote.

A wall would be a good idea to protect against illegal immigrants and smuggling but would not stop all infiltrations into the USA.

Of course not. They'll just bring a ladder. Duh. That's what I mean by stupid. They'll dig tunnels, bring ladders and the wall will be standing there like a 6 billion dollar white elephant.

Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!
He's too dangerous to call a cry baby

Wait, what? You can protest professionally now?

This is sweet! I was just thinking of a career change, and I would love to smash stuff up, but I wasn't aware that it paid enough to keep food on the table.

Where do I send my resume?

Can I get paid extra if I knock Trump's toupee off? Or do I have to do that on my own time?

Trump has to be looking for a way out, he and his staff are deer in headlights right now. They didn't expect to win neither. There's bound to be an issue with his businesses over conflict of interest and pay to play issues. I wouldn't be surprised if he uses that as an excuse to resign.

What about pot? Some more states voted in new pot laws. Will the Trump admin fight them?

I heard his acceptance speech. The words were good but the delivery sounded like someone who just took a bite of a shit sandwich.

Yup. Just as he promised.

If he won, it was a fair election.

If he lost, it was 'rigged'.

So, none of the 'voter reform' that the Trump folks say we so desperately needed actually exists?!?!

Despite the fact that NC cancelled early voting on Sundays which is when the mostly Democratic voting black people used to go to the early voting on Sundays after church.

He's going to surprise the liberals. In the end, he's going to make you proud. There'll be things some won't like, but the good will outweigh the bad.

So far, it looks like a redo of late 90's and early 00's Republicans, led by a man with a derailed train of thought, and a VP that's an extreme evangelical. If you think he's going to run an administration any better than his campaign, you're deluding yourself. I could see Trump literally coming to the realization that he's now fucked as he sat in the White House with Obama yesterday. He knew he was way in over his head. Every president is to a certain extent when they start, but he has no intelligence, education, or experience to draw from. He doesn't even have basic concepts of governance or our constitution within his mental grasp. He claims he'll surround himself with the best people, but so far he's surrounding himself with old, tired white sycophants that failed decades ago, and simply rode his coat tails to victory.

Anyone with any actual expertise in just about any area is not going to want to be in any way affiliated with this administration, which is a shame because what Trump really needs is real, bonafide experts, not bigots that live in a fantasy world of Breitbart news.

Sure, we'll survive, but in 4 years, I expect us to look like Kansas.

A lot has been reported about his attention span. Will he be able to sit through a long detailed briefing?

As far as policy goes, after reflection, I'd rather have this situation with Trump as president than a rock ribbed conservative. He might have decimated the opposition, but he's his own opposition. His infrastructure plan is downright sensible (hated by the conservatives) and if he keeps walking back his extreme foreign policy positions, like he has (and sticks with it) he might be downright tolerable.

His racism and misogyny, of course, are intolerable. We shall see how sincere that is. We need to be ready to go to the mat on these issues. Possibly some of his advisors can talk some sense into him. A forlorn hope, but if Lincoln could talk Grant, known for his stubbornness, out of anti-semitism, we can hope someone can talk some sense into Trump. And failing that, at least he's brought the Republican Party's racism out of the closet. It's bigger than we thought, but at least now we know how big.
