Va. man charged with hate crime after using Muslim slurs, biting victim’s face, police say

A McLean man is facing hate crime charges after police said he bit another man’s face in November after an altercation in which he used anti-Muslim slurs.

Robin McGreer, 35, approached a 31-year-old man in a Tysons Corner Center parking lot Nov. 27, started a conversation and then threatened him using anti-Muslim slurs, Fairfax County police said.

An altercation ensued and McGreer bit the man’s face, leaving him with a “significant face wound,” police said. McGreer left the scene before police arrived.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. Fairfax police said it is the department’s policy not to release details about victims’ backgrounds, so they would not describe the victim’s race or religion.

McGreer was arrested Monday and charged with bias-related malicious bodily injury.

Biting someone's face. Wow, these people are literally trolls.

I had to recheck the article to make sure it didn't happen in Florida.

Well, people have been saying for a while that Trump voters are just mindless zombies. I guess they're just playing to the stereotypes.

Well, it is going to be Lent soon, so he may have just been getting bigotry out of his system.

I don't see where it says he's a Trump voter. Of course .... if he voted at all, I'm willing to offer any of our resident trumpologists 10:1 on their hard-earned money, if they want to bet he voted for someone else. Come on boys - there's less evidence that this guy is a trump voter than there is that El Cheato has been cultivated for years as a Russian puppet, and you have no problem denying THAT! Put your money where you mouth is!! :D

When you start blaming every social problem on Trump you begin to look like the Republicans the last eight years blaming everything on Obama.

Trump is responsible for what he is doing. Like that insane travel ban based on no evidence.

And also for encouraging hatred and bigotry amongst his followers. That's not blaming Trump for everything, that's saying that Trump is doing specific things and bears a responsibility for the consequences of those things. You can't give him a pass on that with some bullshit claims of false equivalency.

Don't know who you are addressing, but I don't blame Cheato for this face-biting incident, I blame the [probable] Trump voter. The fact that such actions are consistent with sentiments that Trump expresses, is of course no fault of Cheato's.

He used racist and xenophobic "messaging" to win the presidency.

He appeals strongly to white supremacists, sure. And they will even be emboldened by him.

He bears some responsibility for stirring up hatreds, but that is a sticky road to go down. Better to just stick with what he actually does.

When somebody claims this man did something because of Trump that is a lot to try to prove.

And when you are asked to prove something and your evidence is that Trump said bad things you look like an idiot.

I didn't write it was because of Trump, though, I don't doubt that Trump is working people into a frenzy with his messaging. I wrote he's a Trump voter, but I had actually meant Trump supporter. Clearly, he's a guy who supports anti-Muslim policy and Trump.

Are we going to have a thread every time something bad happens to a Muslim? Can you say hobby horse?

I just went through 8 years where some Republicans blamed Obama for every problem since the beginning of time.

When we look at violent attacks they occur everyday in the US.

Overall statistics have significance, not anecdotal evidence.

Can you say hobby horse?
Not for new threads.
If he starts warping every single thread, even ones without a reference to muslim, trump, violence, or bigot, around to one of three or four times something bad happened to a muslim after Trump's election, then it'll be a hobby horse.

Shit's been happening to Muslims for a while now and it hasn't been posted. If you'd like me to start doing that, just ask.

Isn't that face biting thing a symptom of the bath salts use?

To give you guys some background, McLean is a very high-income area. Fairfax County has one of the highest median incomes in the country, and McClean is probably one of the highest income areas in that county. Tysons Corner is a high end shopping mall. That area also happens to have a large Arab and Persian population. If you go to a Starbucks anywhere in McClean in the afternoon, you are apt to find lots of Arabs sitting around, drinking coffee, talking and smoking.

Who knows if this guy voted for Trump. Of course, given the circumstances, it would hardly be surprising. I imagine the support for Trump is relatively low in McClean, given that it is CIA country. When you talk about establishment, beltway insiders, McLean fits the bill.

Why not? You start a thread every time a woman falsely accuses someone of rape. You're the veritable expert on hobby horses, it would seem.

Nah - just every time some bigoted xenophobic American "patriot" kills them. Do you have a problem with that?
