On the Left, in 1919, the  Bavarian Soviet Republic was brutally suppressed, with the execution of some 1,000 - 1,200 of its participants, with a similar number being jailed for several years.

On the Right, in 1919, the  Kapp Putsch was barely suppressed. Wolfgang Kapp was a civil servant who wanted to restore the prewar elites to their old positions, complete with autocratic rule. This coup was stopped by a general strike in Berlin, and Kapp got off easy.

Also on the Right, in 1923, someone on the lunatic fringe of the Right, Adolf Hitler, attempted a coup in a beer hall in Munich. He got off very easy for leading the Beer Hall Putsch. In his trial, the judges let him rant at length about what a German patriot he was, how he wanted to overthrow the traitors who now rule Germany, and how he wanted to make Germany great again. He was imprisoned to five years in Landsberg Castle, where he got a room with a nice view. He spent his time writing his book "Four and a Half Years of Struggle against Lies, Cowardice, and Stupidity," and he was let out after only one year. His publisher shortened the book title to "My Struggle" ("Mein Kampf").
