Trump VS COVID-19 Threat

Trump squashed more propaganda. A reporter just asked him, "Joe Biden said you might change the election date. Is that true?" And Trump said, "No, why would I do that? It's November 3, that's a good number. That's propaganda made up by his side."

Do you guys ever get tired of this nonsense?

Yes. If you just linked the article which holds the exact quotes instead of your spin of it, an honest discussion could be made.

But instead we have the crap you spew. That is the nonsense you are referring to, right?

Aw c'mon, let the trolling continue. It's so much fun to bust him when his fantasy proves to be ... fantasy.
Like this gem from March 16th:
... by April we will be laughing going,
"Remember how everyone panicked over the coronavirus
because the media started fear mongering?"

Or this dreamland scene:

This quarantine will work. I guarantee it. April 12 we will be up and running.
The cases are going to start declining in the U.S. starting around the next few days.
By April 1, we will see a steady downstream and be on our way out.

And if Trump changes - or tries to change the election date, you can expect the same profuse apology we got for those ridiculous trumperies.

Yes, this is the hilarious thing, as if anyone really needed the mainstream cable networks to see that Trump is a lying buffoon. Indeed, outlets like CNN and MSNBC probably give too much credit to Trump. The man is clearly a moron, anyone and everyone on the right and left who isn't a moron can see this and does see this. Even some of his most ardent supporters, like Ann Coulter, will admit the man is an ignoramus.

But you guys only agree with conservatives when they agree with what you say. Is that fair?
That's not so much "fair" as it is "the fucking definition of 'agree'".
Sort of like how you only agree with Christians if they openly support gays and trans people. You call them "good christians." But the only "good Christians" are the ones who agree with you atheists about certain things. :noid:

Yes, that's right. Christians who do cruel and evil things are, by definition, not "good".

I am unsure how this can be so difficult for you to grasp.

Oh, hang on. You think that "good" is arbitrary and a matter of opinion, don't you? That you can pick a set of rules (for example by adopting those defined by a particular church or sect), call them "good", and then consider yourself moral if you simply obey the set of rules you picked.

Sorry, but it's not that simple.

In fact "Sorry, but it's not that simple" is a pretty effective response to almost everything you post. Nothing is as simple as you seem to desperately want it to be.

Let's see how much the Democrats try to get into their bill. Not just that, but also stuff like rent and mortgage cancellation, voting by mail, etc. The Democrats might not get everything, but they should load up with a *lot* of stuff, so they can have more bargaining leverage. Obama-style compromising in advance is not a good policy.
I can't imagine mortgage cancellation, I can see permanent postponement or freeze during the duration of the Freeze, but the mortgages are complicated things and I don't think it is quite as simple as just waiving it.

I've got to think, the GOP is playing with some serious ammunition if they think letting the states starve is a viable 2020 election option. Granted, if it means a supermajority in the Senate... fine. It doesn't seem like a Democrat can be elected unless the GOP has utterly fucked the country... less than 4 years after taking from the guy that helped get things going again after inheriting it from the Middle East Clusterfuck President.

The states had to shutdown in order to quell the death. To not support that is pretty much evil. And the states are starved because of right-wing budgeting lunacy. I mean, sure, I've got that extra $100 in my pocket thanks to those spending cuts, but Ohio is going to be hurting, just like every other state... and the magnitude of hurt is yet to be known... and just how much of it GOP inspired, either through Trump or the GOP idiots running states (unlike the Dewines and Hogans who somehow got the GOP Stupid vaccination just in time).

Fox News Cuts Ties With Diamond & Silk, Unofficial Trump ‘Advisers’ Who Spread Bonkers Coronavirus Claims
After rising to prominence during the 2016 election, Lynette “Diamond” Hardaway and Rochelle “Silk” Richardson leveraged their newfound celebrity into regular sycophantic appearances on Fox News, resulting in President Donald Trump raving about their performances, featuring them at rallies, and treating them as “senior advisers.”
The two black women had a weekly show on Fox Nation of 5 - 7 minutes of selections from their free-form livestreams. But there are no episodes later than April 7.

Guest appearances have also dried up. The two sisters' last ones are a March 6 appearance on Fox & Friends and a March 7 appearance on a show hosted by Trish Regan, someone who was dumped by Fox after she dismissed the pandemic as an "impeachment scam." D&S have made similar sorts of claims. From a March 30 livestream:
“What I need to know is how many people have passed away in New York, and what I need to know is: Who has the bodies?” Diamond asked. “I need for somebody that does investigative work to call the morgues. To call the funeral homes. We need to know, because I don't trust anything else that comes out of his mouth now... Something's not right here. Something is off here.”

She added: “Is this being deliberately spread? Look, I’m not being a conspiracy theorist, this is real, but I’m asking my own questions. What the hell is going on?"

Silk, meanwhile, baselessly asserted that the disease was “man-made” and “engineered,” wondering aloud if there was a “little deep-state action going on behind the scenes.” She also questioned whether the World Health Organization had a “switch” to “turn this virus on and off?”

The pair would go on to question the death toll in other tweets and video posts, asking at one point, “Why did they have to inflate the numbers?”
Then they said that people ought to expose themselves to the virus so that they can become immune to it. In an April 10 livestream:
“Kudos if you make your vaccines for people and you want to help people,” Diamond exclaimed. “But I have a problem receiving any vaccine from any entity, especially anybody like Bill Gates who pushed for population control. The same thing that Margaret Sanger pushed for.”

“Abortions! Genocide!” Silk shouted in response.

During the same broadcast, they also openly wondered whether 5G technology was being used to infect people with coronavirus in an effort to fill “empty” hospitals, suggesting that the “deep state snakes” were building towers in certain areas to “turn things on and off to make sure that certain things go down so those hospital beds can be filled?”

Here are the first two sentences. The trump imposed travel restrictions in late January, China was quick to condemn the decision by appealing to WHO, which was in China's pocket already thanks to the head of WHO which Chinese government had a huge hand in appointing. WHO recommended against travel restrictions, the US rushed to go in the opposite direction, certainly not an act of good gesture of goodwill at best by the head honchos at WHO. WTF is the evidence that they're word for word with this Jennifer Oriel? I refuse to pay a red cent to read something behind a paywall.

You're right. There are a couple of very minor differences, I'll only highlight part of the text that's relevant:

So it's pretty clear these aren't your words and you got them somewhere else. So not a straight up copy and paste. Just a copy and paste with some sprinkles. In other words a difference without a distinction.
@angelo knows he fucked up, because he deleted his post. That's about as close as we'll ever get to an admission of dishonesty.

I'm pretty sure angelo plagiarised from a printed copy of the Australian, because it's not a copy-paste job. For instance, angelo thinks the acronym for the Chinese Communist Party is CPP, and he abbreviated WHO when the original wrote the organisation's name in full.

I deleted my post because of the similarity to that other post, which was emailed to me by an Amrican friend. Whoever wrote that the post I'm being accused of plagiarizing obviously used the same source, and it's the reason why I deleted my post. Like Ripley, believe it or not!

Why do I have a feeling you're not going to get a very satisfactory response (if a response at all) to this collection of sunshine and rainbows predictions?

Cancel Rent: A Conversation with Housing Justice For All | AOC LIVE - Watch - Live
I watched it, and AOC was very sensible in some ways. She wants cancellation of both mortgages and rent, and she thinks that landlords along with tenants should be bailed out, especially mom-and-pop ones. She also says that some nurses have become involved in housing activism because housing insecurity is associated with poor health.

She also said that people are planning a rent strike not because they don't want to pay, but because they can't. She says that she's been on the phone with Governor Cuomo about rent cancellation. She also likes the idea of housing homeless people in otherwise-empty hotels. That would also put the hotel staff to work. She notes that NYC has more vacant apartments than homeless people. Many of them are bought as "cashboxes in the sky", as real-estate investments by people with a lot of money.

H.R.6515 - 116th Congress (2019-2020): Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act of 2020 | Congress.gov | Library of Congress - introduced by Ilhan Omar. AOC said that she plans to cosponsor it if she hasn't already done so. I checked and she's one of its cosponsors. She says that one shouldn't assume that a Democrat is automatically on one's side. "Not all Democrats are the same." She knows, because she unseated a Democrat who was rather unlike her - corporate centrist Joe Crowley.

Another one was to call Governor Cuomo about canceling rent. AOC closed out by saying that being organized helps in getting one's way with politicians - politicians who normally bend over backwards to accommodate super rich people. We need unprecedented solutions for unprecedented problems. Half-measures won't do.

Oh so you didn't plagiarize from the Australian. It's that you and the author both plagiarised from another source? Cool cool cool cool.

Of course you plagiarised it; some of it is copied verbatim and other bits are barely modified.

Let me see if we've got this straight:
1. Your "American friend" emailed you a column from The Australian.
2. You plagiarised it.
3. You shit your pants when Patooka discovered your source, and you deleted your post in a vain effort to hide your fraud.

Why do I have a feeling you're not going to get a very satisfactory response (if a response at all) to this collection of sunshine and rainbows predictions?

I can only surmise from the many times that halfie's puppetmaster has been caught lying, his abysmal ignorance revealed or his stupidity put on display by his own words. There are only two modalities of response:

1) Attack the messenger: "You're a terrible reporter, you're fake news", and
2) I didn't say that.

There is no reason to expect more from the puppet than from the puppetmaster.

I find myself usually agreeing with Kevin Drum, and today is no exception:

I don’t especially blame Donald Trump for not endorsing lockdowns and quarantines and so forth until mid-March. In this, he was probably following expert advice fairly reasonably. What I do blame him for is: not planning for the worst case when he had the chance during February; consistently providing the country with bad information about vaccines and cures and bleach and so forth; declining to take testing seriously; turning the entire operation into a partisan crusade; using the month of April to fire up his base to “liberate” red states; wasting time blaming China and WHO and Democrats and governors for his own mistakes; putting Jared Kushner in charge of an important task that needed someone experienced and competent; and just generally acting like a buffoon the entire time. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list.

So you still quoted someone else without attribution. It's still plagiarism.

Yep, I don't see any articles there calling him unfit for the Presidency, a terrible man, a disgusting man, etc etc etc.

They do that for Trump, though.

What are you complaining about. It was just sarcasm.

Halfie reviewed 6470 or so articles in an hour and a half?
But he canmot tell the difference between a NEWS STORY and an opinion piece?
A SURVEY or a study?
A news anchor or a news maker?

Fascinating.

It's pretty common. If it wasn't so common it would be fascinating.

If anyone is curious why Half-life and others have suddenly pivoted from downplaying this pandemic and defending Trump to going after China 24/7, it's not a coincidence. O'Donnell and Assoc, is run by Brett O'Donnell who has recently been an advisor to Mike Pompeo and Tom Cotton, in case anyone is curious.

from the talking points memo said:
Likely attacks / questions:

Q: Isn’t this Trump’s fault?

Note - don’t defend Trump, other than the China Travel Ban -- attack China
● This is China’s fault. The virus came from China and China covered it up. Because China lied about the extent of the virus, our public health officials acted late.
● I wish that everyone acted earlier -- that includes our elected officials, the World Health Organization, and the CDC.
● I’m glad that President Trump acted early to ban travel to China -- that’s something my Democratic opponent did not support and that Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi criticized as
xenophobic and racist

also,

AT: Trump--”China virus/Wuhan virus”
Key Points:
● President Trump is right to call this the Chinese Virus. That’s where the virus came from.
● There’s a long history of calling viruses by the location that they originated from. Lyme disease, West Nile Virus, and the Spanish Flu(emphasis mine).
● In fact, everyone was referring to this as the Wuhan virus before China decided to push its propaganda.
● Whatever you want to call this virus, China is responsible. It’s more important to hold China accountable and prevent this from happening again than it is to be politically correct

So expect to hear a lot more of this type of crap. It's 50+ pages of deflection and whataboutisms but the thing I found delightful about the strategy is that it suggests to Republicans that under no circumstances are they to defend Trump but deflect to China.

It does beg the question. How many Republican senators and congressmen are going to campaign in November whilst social distancing the living fuck out of Trump?

Jesus fuck this kind of lockstep talking point distribution is unethical.

It pretty plainly lays out the fact that those talking are not actually arguing in good faith and are coordinating an outright deflection.
