Trump VS COVID-19 Threat

Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "I work from early in the morning until late at night, haven’t left the White House in many months (except to launch Hospital Ship Comfort)
Uh, no. The Comfort was 'launched' in 1976.
You 'saw them off' on this latest mission, but launching is that first time they roll the keel into the water. Distinct from the commissioning, or any old deployment.
People get wet.

But this is a military genius, who knows more than his admirals about the military.

Name one Admiral with the vision to think of shooting down boats as a strategy.

That Senator who feared Guam would tip over. Wasn't he an Academy grad?

This reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode "It's a Good Life". In it, a boy named Anthony Fremont can read people's minds, and banish them to a certain cornfield. Everybody in his hometown lives in fear of him, always assuring how much they like what he does and what a good boy he is. Because if they don't, it's off to the cornfield.
This isn't the first time SCROTUS and Anthony have been tied together. You should read the short story; it's far more frightening than the TZ episode.

"It's a good thing" you're a sexual predator Mr. Trump! - Democratic Underground - Oct 15, 2016
Six-year-old Anthony Fremont looks like any other little boy, but looks can be deceiving: he is a monster, a mutant with godlike mental powers, including mind-reading. Years before, he isolated his town of Peaksville, Ohio from the rest of the universe. Everybody is under his rule, even his parents. Since he's begun isolating the town, the people must survive by growing their own food, and supplies of common household items, such as bar soap, have been dwindling. He has blocked television signals and caused cars not to work.

The children and adults, including his own parents, tiptoe nervously around him, constantly telling him how everything he does is "good," since displeasing him can get them wished away into the cornfield from which there is no return. At one point, a dog is heard barking angrily. Anthony thinks the dog is "bad" and doesn't "like [him] at all," and wishes it into the cornfield. His father and mother are horrified, but they dare not show it.

Trump recalls child in ‘Twilight Zone’ story | Letters To Editor | greensboro.com - July 25, 2019
It’s an unforgettable “Twilight Zone” episode that featured little Anthony Fremont, a 6-year-old boy who possessed a godlike power of life and death over everyone in his village. If you rubbed Anthony the wrong way, he could turn you into a scarecrow and wish you into the cornfield.

I imagined AG Barr at the podium saying “It’s good that you did that, Donald. It’s real good” followed by forced smiles and nods of agreement from loyalist Republicans.

Inside Smithfield, JBS and Tysons Food meat plants, fears grew of employees working sick, without protective gear - The Washington Post
Three of the nation’s largest meat processors failed to provide protective gear to all workers, and some employees say they were told to continue working in crowded plants even while sick as the coronavirus spread around the country and turned the facilities into infection hot spots, a Washington Post investigation has found.

The actions by three major meat producers — Tyson Foods, JBS USA and Smithfield Foods — continued even after federal guidelines on social distancing and personal protective equipment were published March 9, according to 25 interviews with employees, elected officials, regional health officials, union leaders and federal safety inspectors as well as dozens of documents, including worker complaints filed with local and federal officials.

Because of outbreaks of the novel coronavirus, over the past several weeks Tyson, JBS and Smithfield have closed 15 plants, devastating rural communities and threatening the nation’s supply of beef and pork. Industry analysts say production is already down by at least 25 percent.

Coronavirus outbreaks in more than 30 plants run by these companies and others have sickened at least 3,300 workers and killed at least 17, according to a review of news reports, county health reports and interviews with health officials and worker advocates.

His Flatulence describes any question he doesn't have a good answer to as a dumb question. That doesn't make it so, though. And he doesn't get ridiculed over everything, just over everything stupid--it's just there's so much stupid you don't notice the things that don't get ridiculed.

You know, it's certainly very ironic that you guys say conservatives have no sense of humor while your idea of humor is calling Trump "His Flatulence." That is like 1st grade level humor. No one thinks something like that is funny.

How are leftists better at comedy again?

Also, one of the media's dumb questions to Trump was, "How long will the lockdown last?" Is Trump a mind reader? Can he see the future? How wold he know? It's a bait question. They wanted Trump to give a date so when that date comes and goes they can say, "YOU LIED TO US, TRUMP!!!" Good thing Trump is smart enough to not take that bait.

You realize what "trump" means in British? Fart. It's meant to be derogatory, not funny.

Yes the very same Trump that's loathed by CNN [ who immediately took the disinfectant quote out of context ] and most notably by most right here in this tread.

What was the context?

The context was that disinfectants kills the virus in around a minute. On hard surfaces. It would be great if something similar could be applied to the internals of a human body to cure the infection, not for people to ingest Dettol. Not in those exact words, but that's what the Trump meant!

Perhaps the Dems, as well as you lot would be better off if you went back to the Russian collusion hoax and the impeachment proceedings?

It's still utter stupidity.

In other words. China isn't to blame at all for this pandemic. It's all His Flatulence's fault that this virus has spread around the planet. Perhaps His Flatulence actually came up with this virus himself then got one of his cronies to ship it to Wuhan so the world would blame China without suspecting that it was purely invented by His Flatulence himself. And the moon landings were all faked. I wonder if His Flatulence was also involved in that caper!

Nobody is to blame for it's existence. Leaders are responsible for how they handle it, and his handling of it is has been terrible.

What disinfectants angelo? Can you name one that kills the virus in around a minute?
I'm sure you can't believe Trump would actually lie about it, so you should be able to find some such thing... short of fire.

Note that quaternary ammonia compounds (the most commonly used commercial surface disinfectants) require 10-30 minutes of dwell time to eliminate lipid encased virii. If you ingest them in any significant quantity you will die.

Yup. I occasionally use this to disinfect my hydration system for hiking. You wear gloves when handling it. (And, yes, I rinse well afterwards. I don't want to be drinking the residue!) Surprisingly, though, from that data sheet it's not considered all that toxic. Category I is the most dangerous, not the least.

Also if I'm not mistaken,

I don't know how you could be wrong, your track record is impeccable.

I am not wrong. It's just hard for you guys to understand outside of your bubble.

I pointed out that Fox News is the only network with enough balls to DEMAND to know why wet markets exist in China and why they aren't shut down immediately. Other networks worship the Chinese and are too afraid to say something bad about them. "China is a good boy. They don't do nothin' bad!"

And you ignored when I pointed out that wet markets exist in the US, also. It's just they're usually called fish markets here.

Fox News is the only network with enough integrity and balls to call out China for what it is. The virus started in China, Fox News called it the China virus. Everyone else screamed and yelled how racist it is to say that a virus that started in a country be refereed to by that country's name.

It was originally referred to as the Wuhan virus, then Covid-19 when that became the accepted name. It's only recently that it's being called the China Virus and that was His Flatulence trying to blame China.

Fox News lives in reality. Everyone else lives in imagination land.

Faux Noise has been measured as saying more falsehoods than truths--quite an accomplishment. They're basically the right wing propaganda channel these days.

Let's use facts to analyze the media's treatment of Trump compared to Obama. Fair should be fair, right?

Obama continues a war in the Middle East, gets a Nobel Peace Prize for it.

Trump bans travel from China at a time when nobody took the virus seriously and there were 0 deaths in America. Media called him a racist bigot.

Me thinks...and this is just a very educated hunch...that if Obama banned travel from China WAY BEFORE all the experts recommended it, the media would be praising Obama for his "quick thinking and fast judgment of a global pandemic."

To the media, Trump can do no right and Obama can do no wrong. Very strange mentality who the media picks and chooses to hail as heroes.

What say you?

I do wonder why Fox News is called propaganda but all the leftist news stations and all the leftist channels on youtube are NOT called leftist propaganda.

What is truly the difference between this:

Leftist: Get Fox News off my TV! It's propaganda!
Conservative: You're just afraid of differing viewpoints.

No, Keith. A sociopath would be a person who believes that corporations should be taxed out of business, which leaves all the workers unemployed and starving. Evidence: this current shutdown of the economy.

No. A crashed economy hurts a sociopath. A sociopath would favor doing nothing about the pandemic, letting people die.

And where's Biden or Bernie during this pandemic? Oh, they're hiding in their basements with no advice to the American people. Trump is trying. The other 2 tucked their tails between their legs and ran.

Neither Biden nor Bernie are doctors or epidemiologists. They're doing what they should--leaving it to the experts. His Flatulence is muzzling the experts and spouting garbage instead.

And he's not trying to address the pandemic, he's after the same thing the right wing has been after all along--the sociopath response of letting people die.

For Dr. Birx:

"Bill Soames hurried past Anthony and reached the front steps, mumbling. He always mumbled when he came to the Fremont house, or passed by it, or even thought of it. Everybody did. They thought about silly things, things that didn’t mean very much, like two-and-two-is-four-and-twice-is-eight and so on; they tried to jumble up their thoughts and keep them skipping back and forth, so Anthony couldn’t read their minds. The mumbling helped. Because if Anthony got anything strong out of your thoughts, he might take a notion to do something about it—like curing your wife’s sick headaches or your kid’s mumps, or getting your old milk cow back on schedule, or fixing the privy. And while Anthony mightn’t actually mean any harm, he couldn’t be expected to have much notion of what was the right thing to do in such case"

You know, I've asked leftists before about what people do in a communist/socialist society if they refuse to work. You know what they said? "Then they starve and die."

It appears this mentality is prevalent in all systems. You can't just reward people for not working. NOBODY WOULD WORK, THEN! IT'S OBVIOUS!

I mean, you guys have to wonder why, since the virus started in China, did they even allow ANYONE to leave their country and infect the world unless they did it on purpose?

If they were serious, they would've locked down China as soon as news of the first case happened. It would've been contained ONLY TO CHINA! Yet, they let people leave the country willy nilly and fly all over the world.

China is not a country to be praised!

Detaining foreigners isn't acceptable behavior.

What the world should have done is quarantined those arriving from Wuhan. (Not that it would have made a difference, the virus was already loose before China clamped down.)

I refuse to pay a red cent to read something behind a paywall.
Are Aussie pennies red?
And is 'one red cent' a common phrase in Australia?

My grandfather was always denying he'd spend 'one red cent' for any crap, it just seems odd to hear from somewhere so distant....

Our cents were red, but weren't called 'pennies', and haven't been currency since 1992, when both the 1c and 2c coins were withdrawn from circulation. The smallest Australian coin today is 5c (and is 'silver' cupro-nickel).

Deleted it as it's very similar to my post. I stopped subscription to the Australian many months ago. Interesting that someone else thinks as I do. Obviously used same sources.

Bullshit. The article is behind a paywall (the author is someone called Jennifer Oriel), but your first two paragraphs are word for fucking word. Real people don't use "[" or "]" as parenthesis, they only show up when you copy and paste walls of text. Coupled with the fact that you have never gone more than 3 sentences without making a snide remark (Killery, Creepy Joe, Mozzies etc) and none of that was evident in the first two paragraphs, it's pretty obvious what you did. You could at least admit it.

Nitpick: I have been known to use []s and {}s as parenthesis--humans have a hard time with nested parenthesis.

He literally told people to go to work sick.

There is leftist propaganda out there, but it's not mainstream like Faux is. Most anything by Michael Moore comes to mind.

Leftist: Get Fox News off my TV! It's propaganda!
Conservative: You're just afraid of differing viewpoints.

Conservative: Get these leftists off my TV! It's propaganda!
Leftist: You're just afraid of differing viewpoints.

Propaganda isn't merely differing viewpoints, it's deliberately deceptive material. Remember, Faux is being sued under consumer protection laws because they knew what they were saying about Covid-19 was false.
