The entire issue is the determination of what constitutes a lethal threat. Duh.

Furthermore, "suicide by cop" may be a description of the intent of the victim, but there is no compelling reason for the police to assist people committing suicide.

Actually the entire issue of what constitutes a lethal threat does not fit. What is also justifiably perceived as a legal threat (even if it is not) works.

A person with a toy gun in their hands would not be a lethal threat but could be perceived as one.

I think the actual problem is that gender is never binary, but a range. The traditional view is you're either a man or a woman, you're either straight or you're gay.

Now there is at least some acceptance of bisexuality. I think gender works in a similar fashion--there are a range of behaviors that are classed as "male" or "female" but which really are just behaviors. Such inter-gendered behavior from women is generally accepted, we just call her a tomboy and don't make an issue of it. However, we aren't so accepting of it from men--what we are seeing is men who aren't 100.00% male behavior and they think transgendered when in reality they lie far closer to "male" than "female".

I am not so sure that just being a "Tomboy" or more effeminate man qualifies as being on an inter-sex/genderqueer/non-binary "spectrum".
Intersex, where there is ambiguity with chromosomes and/or genitals (blind vagina for XY women for example) are quite rare.True transgenderism is also not that common. I routinely carry a leatherman multi-tool. I can't imagine effectively cutting anyone with it (the knife is unimpressive) but it certainly could stab (the scissors are very sharp and very pointy) and if you knew what you were doing it certainly could be lethal.

They have different models. Some have 2-3" knives, which are enough to inflict life-threatening stab wounds, even possibly reach the heart. This model for example features a 2.9" blade. Not something you want to threaten police with.

Yeah. I have the smallest version--the tools on it that see the most use (and the reason I carry it) are the two screwdrivers. The scissors I use occasionally (they're good but tiny), the ruler I use rarely and the rest more likely than not I haven't used.
