We live in the age of fraudulence

Is this the right thread to complain about disinformation?

YouTube seems to be thoroughly riddled with garbage lies. Not just from the usual Putin-MAGA bullshit machine but also lies "allied" with the anti-fascists, click-baits from investment advisors, etc. etc. When I click 'About' on a Facebook Friend suggestion the occupation is often "content creator." I guess this is what young entrepreneurs do these days. Is there an easy way to tell YouTube "Do not show any more videos from this channel"?

I like Jasmine Crockett and often click on videos about her. I clicked the following to see only gibberish about "DNA ... daughter ... Tiana Meredith." What??

Aha! Just now I loaded the URL to confirm for this post and see "In this fictional legal showdown, Donald Trump launches a high-profile lawsuit against Rep. Jasmine Crockett," So the YouTube admits to being utter fiction!!!
I may be gullible, but the @EliteNostalgia channel is loathsome. Clicking to it, it seems to be dozens of such fictions, almost all with Jasmine as heroine. If I complained, could YouTube take this channel down? (Please don't tell me this is Jasmine trying to get a few extra dollars off her fame.)

Is Idot related to Godot?

In other news:

Thanks. I realize that much of the problem is me -- my stupid clicks cause YouTube to present me with more stupidity! But still I think this outright bullshit is MUCH more common than it was just a year or two ago. Perhaps there's some AI which automates the production of such crap.

I just typed a query into Google Search and learn that I should "click on the vertical ellipsis and select the 'Don't recommend channel' option." There is no vertical ellipsis on the video being played -- Must I wait until another recommendation for the bullshit channel?

OTOH I see lots of recommendations other than EliteNostalgia which fail your tests and/or fail my own. I'll just delete channels in the dozens for a while and see if my "Feed" improves!! 8-)

Anything that is fake but is presented in the click me icon as being real should be noted as being Fake or AI or fictional. Of course, that would inhibit clicks, which is bad for Google. Google has given us some useful resources, unlike Facebook, but both companies are making ad money on fake news.

Facebook and YouTube have favored fraud and disinformation for over a decade. They censor debunkers if those debunkers threaten the clicks being generated by charlatans and frauds. Trolls and Troll bots dominate the comments in facebook comments. It's been this way for a long time.

If you direct the majority of the power of a battleship's engines to big fans you can fluidize enough sand that you could operate a battleship in it.
Are you seriously suggesting that battleships hover?
Who said anything about hover? I'm talking about floating. Things can float in fluidized sand. (Which can be devastating in an earthquake. Wet sand plus shaking can fluidize the ground and the buildings sitting on it do not float.)

But juries are not a panacea. I decided right away that circumstantial evidence and lack of an alternative made it about 99.9% that O.J. Simpson committed a double murder. Yet a jury acquitted, and it seemed that millions of Americans felt Simpson was innocent. Many people simply lack the skill set I discussed above.

There's a big problem with the OJ case: The prosecution lost a witness mid-trial, the jury had no idea of what happened. That's going to cause doubt in the minds of the jurors.

I gave OJ an incredible amount of leeway and understanding. But the DNA evidence was irrefutable. It was odd how many still gave OJ a pass.

I was working in an office as a QA nurse during that case and some of my coworkers loved OJ and didn't want him to be convicted, regardless of the evidence. There were also, from what I remember, some Black folks who wanted him to get off because they felt too many white criminals got away with murder and it was time for a Black guy to get away with a crime. It was all very weird to me. I vaguely recall some of my coworkers celebrating the verdict when it was quite obvious he was guilty. The link below explains it and that is what I remember about some people's reactions to the case.

For many people old enough to remember O.J. Simpson’s murder trial, his 1995 exoneration was a defining moment in their understanding of race, policing and justice. Nearly three decades later, it still reflects the different realities of white and Black Americans.

Some people recall watching their Black co-workers and classmates erupting in jubilation at perceived retribution over institutional racism. Others remember their white counterparts shocked over what many felt was overwhelming evidence of guilt. Both reactions reflected different experiences with a criminal justice system that continues to disproportionately punish Black Americans.

WATCH: How O.J. Simpson’s murder trial exposed a stark racial fissure in America

Simpson, who died Wednesday, remains a symbol of racial divisions in American society because he is a reminder of how deeply the inequities are felt, even as newer figures have come to symbolize the struggles around racism, policing and justice.

“It wasn’t really about O.J. Simpson the man. It was about the rest of the society and how we responded to him,” said Justin Hansford, a Howard University law professor.

Still, some of my white coworkers also celebrated the verdict for one reason or another, mostly because they were big fans of OJ and I guess they didn't want to believe he was guilty.

It makes me wonder what these idiots thought was the inspiration for milk to be pasteurised in the first place.

Presumably they think dairies added an expensive extra process just because teh evil gubernment wanted to make people sick for reasons.

The problem is, these idiots have it too good. They can oppose vaccination, and support raw milk, because the idea that their children might die before reaching adulthood is now a vague and almost absurd threat, rather than a daily reality.

These people need to visit a graveyard, and see just how many tombstones have dates like "1904-1908" on them.

I was at Watkins Glen recently, and some people were catching some of the waterfall water in their water bottles, because if it is natural, it must be safe.

Well, we all know Louis was a huge innovator of big government and invented something to allow the Government to insert themselves in the food chain.

When things are too good for too long, many people forget what it took to get there.

IME as soon as you click on ANYTHING offered by YT, you have one foot in a rabbit hole, and the back button is your best friend (right after the little X in the top right corner).

Deliberately stripping nutrition to make people sick. Local news station is fear mongering because big dairy is threatened by raw milk. Jews.

Now I’m reading comments following an article about Kennedy and his expert panel ending deadly vaccine research.

That's what a friend of mine in Alaska said, He spent the next week with giardia.

I wish I could say I was surprised. I see too many city idiots out on the trails. Fortunately, the stupid ones generally don't have much endurance and thus avoid screwing themselves too badly except in messing with wildlife.

When I was trekking in Nepal last year the guide was insistent not to drink the water in creeks even at 5000m because of giardia and other nicetities. Bottled water all the way up and down.
